Being a homeless child in Bakersfield does not mean the loss of an enriching learning experience in a licensed day care facility. Being a homeless child in Bakersfield does not mean sleeping in a car. Being a homeless child at Bakersfield Homeless Center does mean living in a private, family room in a caring and nurturing environment.

The Bakersfield Homeless Center (BHC) is dedicated to serving these children and assisting their parents in taking control of their family’s future. BHC averages over 100 children a night sleeping warm, snug and well fed. We are committed to serving the fastest growing population of homeless in our community – our children – who cannot speak for themselves or ask for our help. BHC helps these underserved, but not undeserving children, not just with food, clothing and shelter, but also with Discovery Depot, the only licensed child care facility operating within a Homeless Center. BHC also offers medical and dental services, tutoring, mentoring and more. We can break the cycle of homelessness by reaching into the lives and hearts of the homeless and instilling the knowledge needed to become self-sufficient.

How do we do this? With your help and support through our annual Boots & Bachelor Auction fundraising event. Over the past 16 years this event has proven to be a favorite among attendees as well as sponsors. Featuring Bakersfield’s most eligible “smokin’ hot” bachelors, the auction will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017, at the world famous Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace. Although it’s a fun-filled evening, our dedicated bachelors and committee members are serious about raising funds to accomplish the mission of the BHC. These men and women who so willingly give their time and resources represent the finest of Bakersfield’s professional world.

The Boots & Bachelor Auction is the Bakersfield Homeless Center’s only major community fundraising event of the year. We are pleased to note that we do not employ a professional fundraising organization to produce this event; 100% of your donation will go directly to the Bakersfield Homeless Center. Our federal non-profit taxpayer ID# is 95-2858936. Remember, 100% of your donation will go to the Center!
