1. Scope
Purpose.
- These tests are conducted in addition to the inspection for compliance with United
States Military Standards MIL-STD-810E (Meth 501.3/502.3 Procedure II.)
- The reason for additional test is due to a fail at low temperatures (-10°C). Details are
described in Reports No: 20160918-1605 by “QualiTech Compliance Engineering
Environmental & Mechanical Lab”., and Report “RAM R-200&PA-100&RP-10 TEST
REPORT_001_DG” by Rotem Industries Ltd.
1.1. Equipment under test:
- PA-100M – Alpha Detector contains atmospheric cells made of aluminium containing
a thin anode wire. The surface of the cell is a membrane of aluminized Mylar, protected
by a fine stainless steel wire mesh.
- RAM R-200 - This Monitor connect with the two above-mentioned detectors (PA-100
and RP-10). RAM-R-200 is portable multifunctional, rugged survey meter designed for
measuring wide range gamma radiation fields and contamination. The RAM R-200
along with its internal detectors is waterproof to a depth of 1 meter.
- RAM R-200 Detector Cable: This is a special cable for connection between the
Monitor and Detectors.
1.2. Specification of Detector PA-100M:
- Temperature Range Operation: -10°C to +50°C
- Accuracy ± 15%

5. Results
5.1. Checking prior to the test.
All instruments have been tested in the chamber in a stable geometry before starting
Temperature testing at room temperature +24°C.

5.2. Operation Temperature

- UUT-1 (PA-100M S/N: n/a) – on Temperature 5°C Accuracy is unacceptable, the
deviation continues to increase in proportion to the decrease in temperature. Normal
operation on temperature greater than 10°С.
- UUT-2 (PA-100M S/N: 9615-006) – on Temperature -5°C Accuracy is 20%.
The deviation continues to increase in proportion to the decrease in temperature.
Specificated operation on temperature greater than -5°С.
6. Conclusion
According to the obtained results it is suggested to modify the Operation
Temperature range of the PA-100M Detector to be the following:
-5°C to +50°C (20% Temperature dependence)
