Trubnikov The PAC approves the proposed programme, strategy and schedule, and recommends approval of this project with first priority for execution until the end of Priorities: Design the injector complex Linac-Booster to present- day particle intensities. Sorin The PAC notes the progress reached in this direction and the emergence of new interesting proposals. Sorin Special efforts are needed to motivate JINR specialists to participate and to lead preparations for experiments at external beams of the Nuclotron-M. Recommendations on the JINR contributions to LHC experiments The PAC takes note of the reports on the participation of the JINR groups in the ATLAS, ALICE, and CMS experiments, presented by V. Lyubushkin, B. Batyunya, and A. Zarubin. COMPASS spectrometer. New electromagnetic calorimeter. 4. COMPASS spectrometer. New electromagnetic calorimeter. The electromagnetic calorimeter ECAL0 will supplement the COMPASS spectrometer for the GPD studies via the exclusive DVCS process +p +p+. The main tasks of the ECAL0 are the following: - together with the ECAL1 and ECAL2, to ensure a hermiticity of the setup for photons from DVCS, - to help in reduction of a background from the SIDIS process +p +p+ 0 +X, - to enlarge the kinematic domain of the DVCS registered by COMPASS. From Monte Carlo studies, the following requirements have been dened for ECAL0: the energy range for photon detection (DVCS and background) is 0.2 to 30 GeV; the maximum geometrical size is 2.6 2.6 m 2. Assuming that it is located behind of the RPD, such calorimeter will cover the polar angular range 0.30.6 rad; ECAL0 should have a modular structure with the dimensions of a module cell 40 40 mm 2, module size 120x120 mm 2 (9 cells); the required energy resolution is about 10% at 1 GeV or better; taking into account the space limitations in the target region and the rather high fringe eld of the target magnet, the total length of the calorimeter should be less than 50 cm and the photodetector should be insensitive to the magnetic eld. 36 6. COMPASS spectrometer. New electromagnetic calorimeter. 4. COMPASS spectrometer. New electromagnetic calorimeter. The calorimeter ECAL0 ( shashlyk)consists of 248 modules or 2232 readout channels. Multipixel Avalanche PhotoDiode (MAPD) will be used as photodetector. The ECAL0 includes also: the frame support, LED-PIN control system, temperature stabilization system, power supply and electronics. The ECAL0 module prototypes have been constructed and tested at the CERN East Hall T9 beam line and at COMPASS Hall. JINR computing resources used by ALICE in time of first LHC runs.
