1 Bumper Bolts 2020-2 Pacific Northwest Region Classic Car Club of America 2020 Issue 2 Hello, PNR Folks, Quickly, on the heels of Bumper Bolt #1 for 2020, please find Bumper Bolts #2. A lot has happened in the last month and we wish to provide details of change in a timely fashion. Note: Two new events on the PNR calendar for 2020: On April 18th (a Saturday) we will have coffee at the Greenfields at Lake Tapps and then caravan to the Thunder Dome Auto Museum in Enumclaw. Afterwards there will be a no-host lunch at a nearby restaurant. On May 19th (a Tuesday) Craig DeVine will take us to the Auburn High School auto shop where we will meet with their shop students and discuss cars. What else? A couple of PNR members will drive their Classics for appropriate show & tell with some under-the-hood time. More details via email on these two events soon. All are encouraged to drive Classics, weather permitting. In this offering, there is a four-page report from National CCCA about their recent board meeting that took place in January during Auto Auction Week, in Scottsdale. Included is a sign-up form for the March 25-29th annual meeting in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. If you have not noticed before, there will be a special visit to the Bulgari Car Collection during the national annual meeting. Space is limited. It is a must-see and not open to the public. Review and send in your form quickly if you wish to attend. Your director Frank, Stan and I have our reservations in. I am reminded that hotel rooms in Forest Grove are “scarce as hens’ teeth” for the July 19th concours so if you intend to go, act now and make your room reservations. Or, remind your friends you plan to bunk at their place again that weekend! Happy Motoring, Val Dickison PNR Secretary

REGIONAL DIRECTORS: The following information includes my personal notes from the Na-tional Board meeting this last Sunday. Sharing this information with you as a Regional Director is to keep you up-to-date on Club business, and to ask for your follow up on several items at the Board’s request. Those items are noted. Also, feel free to share any of this information with your members. My notes are not intended to be all-inclusive, so watch for the formal meeting minutes in the next issue of the Bulletin.

NATIONAL BOARD MEETING NOTES: Held January 19, 2020 at the Janet Cussler Car Collec-tion Meeting Room, Scottsdale, Arizona

ATTENDEES: ALL Board members except Jay Quail Executive Director and Tom Quick who both had excused absences.

GUESTS: Regional Directors: Mark Desch & Gloria Desch, Upper Midwest Region and Al Kro-mer Texas, Ron Verschoor, SoCal Regional Director, and Editor and Neil Pitt from Speed Digital.

PUBLICATION COMMITTEE WEBSTER PETERSON/RON VERSHOOR EDITOR REPORT

Ron has held the Editor position for 12 years. Ron was attending this meeting to share that he has decided that after all this time in this role that it is time to step down and search for a new Editor. Ron has a full-time job and is the Southern California Regional Director. Ron said he realizes that it will be a challenge to replace him and has offered to stay in the position as long as it takes to find his replacement, which could conceivably take a year or more. Ron also is offering to stay beyond the selection of a new Editor to insure no degradation to the publications. Ron shared some of his duties and provided an overview of his position description, which I have attached. He shared that it takes about 20 to 25 hours each week to perform all of the tasks for the two publications. We did discuss assigning the Bulletin oversite to someone other than the Editor position. There is a layout person who sets up the formatting. Ron shared that he loved the assignment and particularly liked the creativity and freedom he has in the role. Ron has done an exceptional job and will be difficult to replace. Ron focuses on content, advertisements, and overall management of both the Classic Car Magazine and the Bulletin.

Regional Directors: If you are aware of any Regional Editor or any other person who would be inter-ested in discussing this future open position, please contact Ron or Webster Peterson, Vice President of Publications. Note that the Editor position is a paid assignment.

FINANCIAL REPORT GREG KOSMATKA

As I have shared before, the financial health of the Club has been a major focus of the Board over the last two years. Unaudited results are very positive for 2019. Next step is for outside Audi-tors to review and confirm our results and then to provide the Club with a written report. More information will be presented at the Annual meeting and printed in the Bulletin, which has been the Club practice.

The Board is working on refinements to the 2020 budget.

ON LINE BANKING HOWARD FREEDMAN

Our Treasurer, Howard Freedman is working on an on-line banking solution to improve some of our processes.

CLASSIFICATION COMMITTEE

We continue to receive comments from members concerning the inclusion of new marks/years to the list of Classic Cars before input can be compiled and presented to membership.

Steve Babinsky, First Vice President, and National Judge is in the process of updating our current list of Classics for distribution.

CARavans SKIP TETZ

The Canadian/American, CANAM CARavan should be a great one this year as is the Kentucky CARavan to be led by Tom and Connie Jones is in the planning stage as well.

I have been asked to ask Regional Directors if your region would consider a CARavan in future years beginning in 2021. Skip and National are available to provide assistance. Call Skip for sugges-tions and questions. Regional Directors, we need your support here.

CLASSIC CAR CLUB MUSEUM Howard Freedman

This year in June, the Experience held the first weekend in June and will feature all GM cars through 1970. Should be an awesome event and is not to be missed.

REGIONAL RELATIONS VICKI ZEIGER

Vicki updated the Board with the names of the two new Regional Directors for the year who are Steve Evans from Arizona and Al Kroemer from Texas. Dale Lillard, Arizona past Regional Director and Chandler Smith, Texas Past Regional Director were acknowledged and thanked by the Board for their service.

Vicki gave an overview of the regions and noted the good work being performed to consolidate the Florida regions under David Salzman’s leadership and thanked Tim Villager, Dixie for his work on behalf of the Dixie Region.

Vicki brought up that regions would like additional information on the Insurance coverage re-gions pay for. A summary will be provided.

MEMBERSHIP FRED LAX

Fred reported that the new schedule for renewals this year has reaped results. Eighty percent of our members had renewed by January 15, which is ahead of previous years. It was noted that Fred keep in close contact with Regional Membership Chairs and that their help and the on-line renewal process are reasons for the improvements.

Regional Directors: please check in with your Membership Chairs and see how your region is doing. If you or your Membership Chairs need help in accessing the on-line reports, contact - - -

Fred or me for support. If every non-renewing member can be contacted, it really does help and the on-line tools make the process easier.

WEB SITE CARROL JENSEN AND NEIL PITT

Good progress is being made to the Web Site. We saw a demonstration of the proposed capabil-ities and were very pleased to see the enhancements soon to be launched. I also learned a few “Operator” tips to make it easier for users. For example, I learned that if you scroll down through the front page of the new site, on the left rather than first going to the Legacy site, that there are good tools for signing up for events. I had previously missed this because I was going into the Legacy site on the right front page, each time I signed on. Try this, sign on to the left side of the opening page if you are registering on-line for the Annual meeting or for a CARavan. Additional demos are being planned to share at the Annual meeting. (Another reason to attend.)

MERCHANDISE COMMITTEE REPORT JOE PIRONE

Very exciting to report the progress being made under Joe’s leadership. We saw the items that will be available on our new Merchandise Classic Car items section on our Web site that will be for sale. Joe is working on final touches and is planned to be launched at the March Annual meeting! Great news for all!

NOMINATION COMMITTEE REPORT DAVID KANE

David reports that we have an excellent slate of candidates for the 2020 National Board opening. Ballots will be going out prior to the Annual meeting in March.

ANNUAL MEETING MARCH 25-29, 2020

Steve Babinsky highlighted some of the outstanding events scheduled at this year’s Annual meet-ing. Try to attend and try to encourage your members to join you. As I said earlier, I am very ex-cited to see the Bulgari Car Collection-it is supposed to be great. In addition, new enhancements will be unveiled at the Annual Meeting including the Merchandise On-Line section of our Web Site and other new features to our Web site so try to make it this year!

Please contact me for questions, comments, or support.

In closing, we hope to see you and your members at the Annual Meeting in March. I have an attached a Registration Form for you to use and to pass along to your members for people who prefer the hard copy version to the on-line method for sign-up.

Best Regards for a wonderful 2020!
