There are opportunities to see children in the Emergency department and to observe routine or emergency

    surgery.

The consultant coordinating your attachment is Dr Fraser Scott, (01924 542502).

The consultant coordinating your time while in Dewsbury is Dr Vijay Sharma, (01924 816166).

In addition, groups of 2 students will be paired with a middle grade and consultant as their mentor.

    First week

After your first 2 days in Leeds, you will come to Pinderfields on Wednesday at 09:00 to start the main

section of your placement. If you come to E floor, gate 46 (as this is the main entrance to the children's

ward), you will be met by Dr Scott. There will be an introduction to the aims of your placement in

paediatrics followed by a tour of the department at Pinderfields and finishing with BLS training. Following

this, there will be some time for you to meet Lee Gilbert, undergraduate secretary, to check all paperwork

    and arrangements are correct.

On Thursday, you should go to the CAU at DDH for 08:30 to sit in on morning handover then have

    orientation for the DDH site.

Friday is spent at Pinderfields - if you come to the tutorial room for 9am – location specified closer to the

    time.

    Week 2

This is a community week based in Leeds

    Weeks 3-6

You will be split into 3 teams of 2 students for the remainder of your placement and will rotate round the 4

clinical areas. Each week runs from Monday-Thursday with Friday spent together for combined classroom

    teaching at Pinderfields.

On your 1st day, you will be given a personalised version of the time table on the next page, specifying

which group you are in as well as the names of your allocated registrar and consultant supervisor and the

location of the classroom teaching on Friday mornings
