Further information regarding this event will be sent home shortly. Funding Boost to FPS I am thrilled to announce that we have been successful in a funding application for improved accessibility for students at FPS. MP Danny Pearson has announced that FPS is to receive $225,000.00 to support the installation of ramps and improved accessibility to buildings and learning spaces. The Victorian Government promotes inclusive learning environments, including equal access to modern and functional learning spaces. The Accessible Buildings Program is one of the initiatives the Government provides to deliver this outcome. Applications to the ABP are assessed on a case-by-case basis due to the varied nature of accessibility requirements for individual students, staff members and parents. Grounds Master Plan Update The countdown is on…3 weeks until the transformation commences! 2020 Foundation Story Time 2020 Foundation students have already started at FPS! Our transition program consists of a number of story times plus four orientation sessions. FPS Foundation parents also have preparation for school with an information evening/morning where a focus on starting school is provided, followed by targeted sessions on how to build Literacy and Numeracy supportive environments in the home. The transition is also supported with a number of our kindergartens visiting FPS and members of our team have already started visiting kindergartens. Such preparation ensures a great start to schooling for our Foundation students. >>>>Cont. Flemington Primary School, Corner Mt Alexander Road & Flemington St, Flemington 3031 P.O. 2020 Class structures The following structures have been set up for 2020. Every year teachers work towards developing a structure that will best cater for our students. We do this in a collaborative way taking into account teacher input, student learning needs and consultation with our Senior Education Improvement Leader – SEIL- Allana Bryant plus our Consultative Committee represented by the AEU, Educational Support, Principal class, Business Manager and teachers from junior, middle, senior and specialist teams. In 2020, our class sizes will grow from 15 classes to 17 classes. This will also see a reduction in numbers of students in classes as well.

Foundation 3 x classes

One 3 x classes

Two 3 x classes

Three/Four 4 x classes

Five/Six 4 x classes

The choice of straight classes in the year one and two levels was decided in consultation with staff and our Senior Education Improvement Leader so as to provide a stronger foundation in the first years of schooling. In 2020, the FPS Response To Intervention program will continue across all year levels as well as teacher- peer observations, instructional rounds, student centred coaching and principal observations. Our data for both teachers and students indicates that these additional supports introduced in 2019 have been beneficial for all. Parents and carers will be informed of their child’s class in the final week of school. For an explanation of the process of how classes are formed please see our latest policy that is available for input on our website https://www.flemingtonps.vic.edu.au/

Recumbent Bike The year 6s are busy training for the big race in Maryborough in 3 weeks. Thank you to all parents who have supported this great event this year by fundraising, running training sessions and attendance at the camp. Please watch out for the bikes on our running track as you arrive and depart the school- our riders are getting faster by the day! Happy Learning!
