Introducing ACE
Partnership established in 2008 between:
Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) Centre for Commercialization of Research (CCR), funded by the Government
of Canada’s Networks of Centres of Excellence program Program funding from the Province of Ontario
Accelerator Centre (AC) Facility funded by the federal and provincial governments, OCE, the Regional
Municipality of Waterloo, the City of Waterloo and the University of Waterloo. Ongoing program funding provided byOCE and MRI
University of Waterloo Intellectual Property Management Group (IPMG) for technology transfer

Centralized access to the resources, expertise and programs of the ACE partners:
University of Waterloo’s technology transfer office, OCE business development managers and AC management and advisors within a full service incubation facility
Continuum of support throughout the commercialization process, end to end, making it easier to navigate through the various stages of business development to commercial success

UW – Intellectual Property Management Group
Assist the University research community in transferring technologies to industry for commercialization
Identify new University technology opportunities and assess commercial viability, business strategy and plan development
Secure IP protection with a view to commercialize via licensing or start-up company creation activities
Obtain follow on investment from government agency/funding programs, venture capital and angel investors/networks
Educate UW faculty, staff and students in understanding issues associated with IP protection
