It all begins with a conviction, a vision and an enduring will power. A conviction to

innovate; a vision to actualize great heights and an enduring will power to motivate, guide

and move ahead through adversaries comprise a Great Leader.

Mark Zuckerberg – A milestone setter

One such dynamic leader who has made a huge difference in the social media industry at a

very tender age of 19 is Mark Zuckerberg, founder -owner of the supersonic social

networking site, Facebook. At the age of 19, a dropout from Harvard University, Mark along

with his friends, in a dormitory room cultivated this idea and launched Facebook in

California. Today the net income of Facebook is US$ 2.94 Billion (2014).

Under the chairmanship of Mark, Facebook in the last year has acquired WhatsApp,

Instagram, Oculus VR and PrivateCore. Today, at the age of 31, he is the second youngest

self made billionaire of the world (2012 news article).

The following report discusses Mark Zuckerberg’s leadership style and behaviour, in depth

exploration on transformational leadership theory and Mark Zuckerberg as a dynamic

Transformational Leader.

The leader in Mark Zuckerberg

The questions which poses here are – how did Mark achieve this status? How well did he

organize his resources especially human resource? Finally, how did he incorporate such

brilliance and innovation at such inexperienced age? It is not an easy task to manage 10,082

(Mar 2015) employees scattered in various crucial departments.

The answer to above questions construes in only two words – ‘Exuberant Leadership’. Mark

definitely is a visionary who has managed efficiently to transform his visions and his ideas

into the minds of his co members and staffs and has achieved to bring out the best in them.

This makes Mark a great Transformational Leader. He has, in the last 11 years inspired

people to do remarkable things, has transformed them to do things- the type of things his

followers would not have dreamt to do on their own. Who would have thought today in the

highest grossers lists will be Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram?

Confidence, Courageous, Empowering – Life with Zuckerberg

Facebook Employee Andrew Bosworth posted 4 points on his blog about “life working with

Zuck”. The four points are: 1. Zuck expects Debate; 2. Zuck experiences things contextually;

3. Zuck isn’t Sentimental; 4. Zuck pushes people.

In 2010, Zuckerberg was ranked as one of the 100 most influential and wealthiest

personalities by the Times Magazine. His style of leadership is described as aggressive and
