Welcome
The Alberta Department of Energy provides GeoView as a mapping system to enable users to find geographic information in Alberta.
GeoView can be launched from within a specific application such as OASIS.
This module outlines the functionality of the Edit feature in GeoView.
Please complete the GeoView Overview module before proceeding with this module

Introduction
In this module you will learn how to access and use the:
• Online map (Geoview)
How to Launch Map Screen Layout Information Panel and Map Layers
• How to navigate the map
Toolbar Zoom in Pan
• GeoView Editing for OASIS.

Note: As this course demonstrates the use of the GeoView tool, the data in some instances may not portray the actual Crown or Freehold ownership.

How to Launch Map - ETS
1. To Log on to the ETS web site:
Enter the ETS User ID issued by the Site Administrator (EN####_accountname) into the User Name field. This field is NOT case-sensitive.
2. Enter the Password: This field IS case-sensitive.
3. Click the Login button:
Save my user name: If you check this box, ETS will save your user name on the site so you do not have to enter it every time you log in.

To access the Online map, select ‘Launch Map’ from the ERCB tab in the application under Proj. Desc.
Launch Map will allow Primary Owner to Edit Application Lands
Scheme Entered & Saved will default available Lands on map and Land Tab

Screen Layout
The GeoView screen display has three main sections:
• Toolbar Area• Information Panel• Map Window
The Toolbar Area contains numerous tools that are used to move around the map, find or search information on the map, print the map, etc. These tools are categorized into high-level groups: Getting Around, Maps and Data Sources, Tasks and Analysis.
The Information Panel shows different kinds of information when you interact with the map. For example, this panel displays the Map Layers where you can select different layers to hide or show on the map.
The Map View shows the map window where you can interact with the map by zooming, panning, annotating or right-clicking to get more information.

Information Panel and Map Layers
Map Layers control the display of the Map Layers List. You can check or uncheck the map layers according to your requirement. You can also control the visibility and transparency of the map using the sliders.

Information Panel and Map Layers – Layer Group and Layer Name
The Information Panel display consists of a Layer Group and Layer Names. When the Layer Group is expanded, the Layer Names will be visible. You can check/uncheck the Layer Group and Layer Names to control visibility in the map. The display of the Layer Group will override the display of the Layer Names.

Information Panel – Map Legend
The Map Legend show the corresponding legend for the layers used in map. You can toggle between Show Legend or Show Layer.

How to Navigate Map – ToolbarSeveral Navigation Tools are available to navigate the map under the Getting Around Tab
Zoom-in and Zoom-Out take you 2x into the map or out of the map depending upon the option selected.

Edit tools are available only if:
a) Application has Project, Potentially Includable lands & Leases (PILL), or available lands via the added Scheme.
b) User represents the Primary Owner, And
c) User is the Creator, or assigned Creator/Delegate. LEFT Panel can display:
List of Map Layer or Legend - Map Layers (Layer Display controls), or- Show Legend: (Color/Patterns)

Toolbar – Edit Tab
Use these tools: To:
Defines at which level the lands can be selected. Eg. Section, ¼ section, lsd, or quadrant..
When option is selected, a mouse click or click and drag will either select or unselect lands.(1st click is to select, 2nd click on same lands is to unselect).
Current selected lands are cleared.

The data layer to be edited Eg. Application Added Lands.

How to – Add Land(s)
Overview of Steps:
The first step is to select the Land(s)
1. Select ATS Grid Level
2. Click Select Land(s)
3. Select appropriate Editing Layer
4. Click on the map to select the Land(s)

Add Land(s)
1. Selected Lands will be identified in Information Panel under Selected Land(s)
2. After Land has been selected, click on Add Land(s)

Edit – Add Validation
After clicking on Add Land(s), a validation screen is displayed.
Click on Apply to continue.
Allowed lands will be identified. Lands not allowed will have an error.

Edit – Land KeysThe Land Keys Tree will display those lands which are in the application at the time of last saved action and land boundary will be adjusted accordingly.
Land Keys sort order are as follows:
• Meridian
• Range
• Township
• Sections
• Quarter Sections
• Legal Sub Divisions
• Quadrants

How to Remove Land(s)
Previously Added Land can be removed by following these steps

Edit – Remove Validation
After clicking on Remove Land(s), a validation screen is displayed.
Click on Apply to continue.
Cancel will close popup and return back to edit session

Validation Results - ErrorsWhile editing, if an action is performed which is contrary to the Business Rules allowing the action, a warning window will appear. Here are some examples:
