On Saturday, Oct. 5, the Sotto Voce Tuba Quartet will visit UMass Amherst for the second stop on their first-ever East Coast tour. The quartet, one of the only tuba/euphonium groups touring to- day, includes acclaimed high euphonium player Demondrae Thurman with along Mark Carlson (low euphonium), Nat McIntosh (high tuba), and Mike Forbes (low tuba). Their program will include arrange- ments of works by Debussy and Bach, along with music written for tuba and euphonium by Anthony Plog and Steve Snowden. The second half of the pro- gram is billed as a “Tour de Estilos Lati- nos (Tour of Latin Styles),” and will feature works by D’Rivera, Piazzolla, Enrique Crespo, and others. The group will also offer a master- class for UMass chamber brass groups at 4 p.m. in Bezanson, which is free and open to the public. Bezanson Recital Hall is located in the UMass Fine Arts Center, 151 Pres- ident’s Dr., Amherst, MA. AMHERST (MA) – The University of Massachusetts Amherst Department of Music & Dance will host performances by visiting guest artists during the com-ing weeks. Both performances will take place in Bezanson Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. and are free and open to the public.

On Tuesday, Sept. 24, saxophonist Kenneth Radnofsky performs a concert titled “The Saxophone in America, Past to Present” with guest pianist Yoshiko Kline. The program will feature works by Schuller, Grofé, Creston, plus the world-premiere of a new work by Fran-cine Trester titled Reminiscence: 3 Medi-tations on Friendship.

On Saturday, Oct. 5, the Sotto Voce Tuba Quartet will visit UMass Amherst for the second stop on their first-ever East Coast tour.
