“Witnesses for Jesus Christ”
Pop Quiz My favorite time of year is the Fall. I like the cooler weather and the colors of the season. I love the feasts of the Fall like St. Francis feast day, Halloween, All Saints and All Souls and of course Thanksgiving. This is also the time of year when young people return to school. We pray for their safety and happiness and that they will open their minds to the wisdom of God. Along with school comes the challenges of testing. In fact, in the Gospel, Jesus gives a pop quiz of his own. He asks his disciples: Who do people say that I am? He receives many wrong answers, so he asks them: Who do YOU say that I am? Peter immediately gives the right answer: you are the Christ! Good answer. But a moment later he re-bukes Jesus for saying that he will have to suffer as the Christ and Jesus calls Peter Satan. Even though Peter knew in his mind who Jesus is, he did not quite grasp in his heart what it means to be the Christ. I am sure many of us know who Jesus is, the Christ, but do we grasp in our hearts what it means to be his follower? Pop quiz: who do you say Jesus is? Yes, he is the Son of God, the Christ, the Messiah, but he is also the one who laid down his life that we might live. May we not only know who Jesus is, but may we also live in imitation of him, the servant leader who gave his life for all. Fr. Tom

RCIA: What’s It All About? Who Is It For? What exactly is the
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults?
To find out we invite you to attend an: RCIA Information Night
Tuesday, October 2, 2018 7:00 pm - Bennett Room in the Parish Center
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the way in which the Catholic Church invites adults who are unbaptized or baptized in another Christian tradition to hear the message of Jesus Christ and to consider becoming part of our Church community. The RCIA also reaches out to baptized Catholic adults who want to celebrate their Confirmation and Eucharist. The RCIA team invites members of our parish to gather with those who are inquiring into our church to share their thoughts and ideas about being a part of a vibrant faith community.
The RCIA is the church community’s way of welcoming new members with great joy!
If you know of someone in your family, neighborhood or workplace who may be interested in hearing more about the RCIA, please share this invitation to our Information Night with them.
