ing the right amount of frictionless and friction-based expe-riences in defining, reinforcing and amplifying the brand,”Walsh cited an example from Mack’s introduction of itsAnthem model in 2017, where, leading up to the launch, thecompany gated “tease” information about the new productby requiring at least an email address to access it. By inten-tionally introducing “friction” into the process — askingpeople to provide information about themselves in exchangefor access to Anthem-related content — the company notonly captured sales leads for marketing nurture campaigns, but also increased the odds that those who did engage werelikely to be purchase decision makers or key influencers, including professional truck drivers.
