Wellbeing Week promotes an overall awareness for the wide-ranging aspects of wellbeing, including social, physical and emotional. It is designed to give students the lifelong skills of looking after their own wellbeing, listening to their own mind and body and having some down time when life becomes too hectic. This week we will be having a whole school assembly via Zoom and completing homework which has a wellbeing focus. In Week 6 I had a lovely time reading to each and every class in our school. I shared the book Frankie the Galah by Angela Robertson- Buchanan with the K-2 classes and Culture by Charles Hope with Year 3-6. Our students really enjoy the experience and there was much discussion afterwards. Reading has so many benefits for all students. I can now inform you of the outcome of the recent tender to provide an Out of School Hours Care facility at Pagewood. The tender has been awarded to Star Club Pty Ltd. In line with NSW School Infrastructure procurement guidelines the review of applications was made by an evaluation panel which included two parent representatives from the school community and two school representatives. The original start date was set for Monday 20 July, however, I am yet to confirm this in line with Licence Agreement and School Infrastructure requirements. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bayside Council for the care they have given our students as well as the support provided to Pagewood families. Information about Star Club Pty Ltd is on their website https://www.starclubschools.com.au/ Parent- teacher interviews will take place by telephone in Weeks 9 and 10. Each student brought home a survey for you to complete regarding their learning from home which you should return to school by Friday 19 June. This will form part of the telephone interview conversation. Bookings opened on Tuesday 9 June, see page 4 on how to book. If both parents would like an interview either together or seperately please book and let the teacher know. As we head into the winter months there will be students with flu-like symptoms. If your child has flu-like symptoms

please err on the safe side and keep them at home until they have seen the doctor. These measures will ensure that

we all stay safe and we can avoid the spread of COVID-19 and keep moving forward. As advised by the Chief Medical

Officer, social distancing and washing your hands remain the most effective way to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Social distancing measures will remain in place in schools and I would again like to thank the families who continue

to follow our drop off guidelines each morning, your cooperation is much

appreciated.

The new student toilet facilities are taking shape, very exciting!

A few parents have commented that they have enjoyed knowing more about what

their child is learning at school. If you would like to know more, the following link is

to the Parent Guide to the NSW Primary syllabuses.

Last week I had the pleasure of being read to myself! Students from K-6 brought their writing to show me. We have

such talented and hardworking students in our school. I really enjoy seeing the progression from Kindergarten writing

right up to Stage 3. It was great to read the feedback teachers had given to each student as to their achievement as

well as how they can improve their writing even more. Well done to these students!

Principal
