DESCRIPTION
I had long wondered why you could only buy paint in quart size containers if your were just trying to test the color. In the spring of 2009 many retail paint companies started offering "paint samples." I was excited to see the packaging and the various approaches but was greatly disappointed at what I saw. All of the packaging was dull, ugly, and difficult yo use. One company had a jar with a built in paint brush but the brush was the size of finger nail brush, not a paint brush. I decided I had to redesign the pain samplers. My partner and myself worked on many concepts, prototypes, and packaging solutions, to arrive at what we feel is a product that is more appealing to consumers and easier to use. We filed a previsionary patten in 2009 and tried to licence the product to various paint companies. Unfortunately many companies had just spend a huge budget rolling out and advertising their paint samples and were not interested in doing it all over again.

Out with the OLD
Consumers are tired of the messy and expensive way of finding the right color. The paint industry is answering this frustration with paint samples. However these samples do not play into the savvy consumer’s desire for trendy and simple design. Paint singles are the answer to the savvy consumer.
What’s a paint sampler The Paint Sampler is an all in one, do-it-yourself paint sampling device that takes current trends in sample sized products and adapts it to an ever increasing population of do-it-yourself customers. The sampler has a pre-mixed paint filled pouch. Affixed to the pouch is a ap-plicator that delivers the paint from the pouch to the wall, cleanly and evenly. After purchasing a sampler, the cus-tomer simply kneads it, pulls a tab exposing the paint to the brush head, and paints!
Possible launch strategy Sample palette
packs sell the customer a
no-brainer in the form of sample paint palettes. For less than a quart of
paint, the customer can
try four colors on their wall before they
buy in quantity.
