The Statue Dream In the beginning of Daniel's writings, while the Israelites were being held captive in Babylon, Daniel was given the interpretation of the king's dream. The dream was of a statue, which symbolizes empires that would be on this earth until the end of the age.

    Daniel's interpretation was:

Daniel 2:31-36 You, O king, were looking and behold, there was a single great statue; that statue, which was large and of extraordinary splendor, was standing in front of you, and its appearance was awesome. The head of that statue was made of fine gold, its breast and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay. You continued looking until a stone wascut out without hands, and it struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay, and crushed them. Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were crushed all at the same time, and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away so that not a trace of them was found. But the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.

Dan. 2:39 And after you there will arise another kingdom inferior to you, then another third kingdom of bronze, which will rule over all the earth. 40 Then there will be a fourth kingdom as strong as iron; inasmuch as iron crushesand shatters all things, so, like iron that breaks in pieces, it will crush and break all these in pieces. 41-43 And in that you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, it will be a divided kingdom; but it will have in it the toughness of iron, inasmuch as you saw the iron mixed with common clay. And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of pottery, so some of the kingdom will be strong and part of it will be brittle. And in that you saw the iron mixed with common clay, they will combine with one another in the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, even as iron does not combine with pottery. 44-45 And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever. Inasmuch as you saw that a stone was cut out of the mountain without hands and

  • that it crushed the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold, the great God has made known to the king what will take place in the future; so the dream is true, and its interpretation is trustworthy.” (NASB)

    · The Head- Babylon, under Nebuchadnezzar the Chaldean.

    · Upper Body and Arms- Media-Persia, under Darius the Mede and Cyrus the Persian.

    · Belly and Thighs- Greece, under Alexander the Great. (thighs - Seleucus (Babylonia) andPtolemy, (Egypt)

    · Legs and Feet- The last days beast and 10 Toes – the revived empire

    .

This statue is symbolic of the time from Nebuchadnezzar King of Babylon, in 607 BC, to the last Empire of this age, the Gog Empire that brings on the last war of this age. Each of these empires have, or will have in the future, conquered Israel. It is the struggle over Israel (Jerusalem) that will bring about all the end time events that, in turn, will bring this age to an end.

Jesus, as the stone not made without human hands, and will be the one to destroy this last Empire by crumbling the feet of the statue on the last day..

As I was studying about the first three empires of the statue dream I noticed a common thread.

King Nebuchadnezzar ruled over his lands and Israel from the city of Babylon. The Media-Persians set up kings to rule over Israel from the city of Babylon, as we see from the book of Daniel. Alexander the Great moved to the city of Babylon and made it his capitol city in the east. Most people don't know thatAlexander fell in love with the city of Babylon and moved there to rule his kingdom from there. He died there, and his empire was split up between his generals. Two became very powerful. The king in the North, which was Seleucus, and the king in the South, which was Ptolemy. Seleucus built a new city in the land of Babylon called Seleucia, just 40 miles from the city of Babylon which now lay in ruin, and from there he rued over Israel. The Seleucid, Northern kingdom, included not only the Babylon area but also Syria, which is located directly North of Israel. Seleucus is sometimes called the King of Syria, because he had a second palace there. But He ruled from his capital city that lay betweenthe two rivers in the Iraq area. Babylon and all the following empires that occupied that area attacked Israel from the North and that is what all these visions are really about. In fact many of the battles tookplace in the same northern valley in Israel that will be the place of the final battle called Armageddon.

These empires are consecutive and so it has been thought that Rome was the legs and feet and will be the revived empire in the end days. However, Rome did not rule over Israel from the Babylonian area. They weren't the next empire to conquer King Neb’s old empire. And this is something I hope to prove to you as we continue in this study.

  • Further along in this study, in the King of the North time-line in Daniel 11, I will be matching scripturewith history about these kingdoms represented in the statue dream. The last King of the North of the time-line prophecy is the empire of the feet and 10 toes of the statue dream. It will come out of the dust of the Northern Grecian kingdom of Seleucus (in the same northern lands of Syria and Iraq and will be the revived empire, a caliphate, revived from the first Caliphate set up in Iraq/Syria area. This Caliphate, like the former one, will lead all radical Islamics in an attack against Israel. I believe this is also the one God calls Gog.

    Chapter 2

The Fourth Beast and Its Ten Horns

This section on the identity of the beasts of Daniel was first written in the spring of 1991 when the Lorddid show me these things for His purpose. I have added to it as the Lord revealed. In Daniel chapter 7:2-8:The 1st beast is a lion; Babylon

    • Stood up and was given a heart. The Lion was the symbol for Babylon. There were 120 lions lined the road to enter Babylon. God took away the kings power (plucked his wings) and caused the king to loose his mind and to roam and eat grass like an animal for seven seasons, and then God caused him to stand up onagain and Nebuchadnezzar then praised the God of Israel.

  • The 2nd beast is a bear; Media-Persia

    • Rises up on one side as Persia became the stronger of the two. They then conquered Babylon and Assyria and Egypt.

The 3rd beast is a leopard; Greece

    • the 4 heads are the 4 generals of Alexander the Great; his empire became 4 empires.

The 4th beast is what is known as the Empire ofthe last days.

Daniel Ch. 7, Vs. 7: After this I kept looking in the night vision, and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful andterrifying and extremely strong: and it had large iron teeth. It devoured and crushed,

and trampled down the remainder with its feet: and it was different from all thebeasts that were before it, and it had ten horns.

.Notice, that the beast devoured and crushed and trampled the other empires before the eleventh horn came up. To devour the other beasts is interesting because it means it swallowed the other kingdoms. If we look at history we know that Babylonwas devoured by Media-Persia making the Media-Persian Empire even larger. Then the Grecian Empire grew larger when it devoured Media Persia and, of course, the last beast devours them all. I can't help but picture the illustration of the little fish when a bigger fish swallows it and then an even bigger fish swallows that fish, and so on. What this means is that the final Beast contains all of the lands of the other empires that came before it. Lands that we call the Middle East.

This last days beast will come up in the lands of the Middle East.

Daniel 7, Vs. 8 While I was contemplating the horns, behold, another horn, a little one, came up

among them and three of the first horns were pulled out by the roots before it; andbehold, this horn possessed eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth uttering great

    boasts.

.This "little horn" actually represents a new kingdom that takes over three of the former kingdoms becoming one bigger kingdom in there place. The angel gives Daniel an interpretation:

  • .

Daniel 7, Vs.24 as for the ten horns, out of THIS kingdom ten kings will arise; and another will arise

after them, and he will be different from the previous ones and will subdue threekings.

.Ten horns/kingdoms are within this beast then an eleventh kingdom arises pulling out three former kingdoms

.We learn more about these Ten Horns in the Book of Revelation

    .THE Ten Horns

Rev. 17, verse 12-17 and the ten horns that you saw are ten kings, whohave not yet received a kingdom, but they receive

authority as kings with the beast for one hour. These have one purpose and they give their power

and authority to the beast. "These will wage war against the lamb, (Jesus) and

the Lamb will overcome them. and the ten hornswhich you saw, and the beast, these will hate theHarlot (on the water, Israel) and will make her

desolate and naked, and will eat her flesh and willburn her up with fire. For God has put in their

hearts to execute his purpose by having a commonpurpose, and by giving their kingdom to the beast,

until the words of God should be fulfilled.

So the binding of these nations together comes out of hatred for the Holy Covenant.

When we look only at the verses in Revelation we don't get the full picture. We have to understand the visions of Daniel to know who the ten horns are. .

Dan. 7:24: as for the ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings will arise; and another will arise

  • after them, and he will be different from the previous ones and will subdue threekings.

. The Ram and goat vision gives us insight into what a horn is in God's symbolism. On the goat the four horns that came up were not only kings but were also four kingdoms within the Grecian empire. All four were still called the Grecian Empire. So horns are kingdoms within an empire.

The fourth beast in Daniel is an empire, and out of this empire ten kings/nationswill arise. So just like the example of the Grecian empire in the Ram and goat

vision, this last empire will be split up into ten nations. When an eleventhking/nation comes into being three of the nations will be uprooted and replaced by

    it.

The Book of Revelation explains this

    . Rev. 17; 12:

and the ten horns that you saw are ten kings, whohave not yet received a kingdom, but they receive

authority as kings with the beast for one hour.

    .

Ten Islamic Nations in the Middle East The Islamic Empire (4th beast) devoured the same lands and people as the first three beasts had ruled over, Babylon, Media-Persia, and Grecian empires.

As we see in Revelation 13 the first beast's last head (empire of the fourth beast), 7th head with ten horns, had died by war/sword, but came back to life. That means the empire died and came back to life as a revived empire made up of the lands of the ten original nations. All ten horns/kings must give their authority to the beast of Islam/Allah. They do this through the Jihad. A Holy war that units their hatred of the people of "The Book" both Jews and Christians, which means they hate bothIsrael and the USA and all other nations that are known as Christian countries to them. One of the leading groups today is the Al-Qaeda.

  • The 4th beast is the Islamic Empire and in it are the ten countries/nations of peoples, that in 1922 had their new borders drawn up by Britain when the Ottoman/Islamicempire died at the end of World War I.

The 10 nations would be within the area of when the 7th head/4th beast ruled over the lands of the Middle east. Ten provinces within the Islamic Empire. Ten Provinces that became kingdoms, each with its own king when the empire fell (one of the heads was slain as if by war and yet lives). The Middle east nations are united in their religion and there goals right now but won't be an “Empire” again until the Ten give their power to the beast out of the bottomless pit. So if we look on a map of the last head on the beast with its ten horns (Islamic Empire) we can see the ten nations of the Middle East today. Places such as Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Libya.

These nations can be found listed in one prophecy or another as being involved in the war against Israel in the end days. They are the most likely candidates for the 10 horns of the last days beast (8th head).

The little horn that comes up among the 10 is an 11th horn, or king. I believe this is a new Caliphate established in the Middle East. When it/he comes up he subdues three of the ten. These may be the three of the ten that have the most pull concerning Israel at this time. Egypt and Jordan have peace agreements with Israeland the other one with the most pull is Saudi Arabia. These countries/kings would have to submit to his power/rule. It seems the government of Egypt will be taken down by war (Eze 38). Jordan avoids being over run by his armies (Daniel 11:40-44) so probably submits without a fight, as does Saudi Arabia, although the Saudis do question why the 11th horn king is attacking Israel at this time (Eze 38).

I believe this 11th king (Caliph) will do much the same as Saladin did. First he, or those countries that adhere to his power, will enter any Middle East countries that are resisting the Caliphate, subdue them, and then employ the people of that nationinto his army. Once he is fully established He will then enter the beautiful land (Israel) (Dan 11:44). Personally I believe this Caliphate will be set up in Iraq. After the US pulls out the government of Iraq will be taken over by an Islamic extremist group.

But it will be the eleventh horn that will rise up and lead radical Islamists, and all Islam by proxy, in the name of Allah, in an attack on Israel in the last days. Once

  • we leave Iraq then Iraq will be open for the taking by the so called insurgents, which are for the most part Al-Qaeda. Then Jesus will return and fight for "the inhabitants of Jerusalem" (Zech 12:8)

-------------------------- This all seems very plausible but there is a second thought on who the 10 are.

The Ottoman Empire had ten provinces within it that were on the map that theBritish used to draw new borders for a new Middle East

This is a copy of the map drawn by a British civil servant in 1922. (I added thenumbers to show the 10 provinces.)

    Quote:

"In the peace settlement that followed the First World War, the Alliesdivided the Arab provinces of the Ottoman Empire, and Britain was

allocated mandatory power over the territory of Iraq under the authorityof the League of Nations. Modern Iraq had never existed in its currentform and the mandate of Iraq was cobbled together from the Ottoman

provinces of Basrah, Baghdad and Mosul. In 1921 Britain imported a king, Faisal, to be the king over this new

    kingdom."*1

  • Ten Horns1. Turkey

    2. Syria

    3. Lebanon

    4. Egypt

    5. Jordan

    6. Arabia

    7. Persia (Iran)

    8. Mosul*

    9. Basrah*

    10. Baghdad*

The last 3 countries were not given kingdoms. They were uprooted and a whole new country came into being called Iraq, the eleventh horn? The three ethnic groups are now under one rule, and they are called Iraqis.

When the Islamic/Ottoman Empire fell Britain, France, Italy, and Russia all took different parts of it, then the USA entered in and using the League of Nations put a stop to the monopolizing of the oil rich lands and caused the boundaries of the Middle East to be drawn up by Britain.

"Lloyd George, the British negotiator and designer of the Middle East partition that President Wilson found so offensive, was able to thwart Wilson's every move to grant those territories independence"*1

In 1922 Britain, under mandates, made each country a separate kingdom and appointed kings for some of them. But did they make a decision that is the fulfillment of prophecy that says when the eleventh horn comes up three of the horns are uprooted, when creating the new kingdom of Iraq?

  • Chapter 3

The Ram and the He Goat of Media-Persia and Greece

In Dan. 8: 3, Daniel sees a ram and is told that it is Media-Persia, which became a huge Empire conquering most of the Middle East.Vs. 5 introduces a he goat. This is Greece, under Alexander the Great and in the next two verses we see that he defeats Media and Persia. In Vs. 6-8 The horn representing Alexander is broken off with his death and four smallerhorns come up in it's place. These are his generals who split up the empire creating four main kingdoms:

    • North, Seleucid (old Babylonian kingdom), which was located between the Euphrates and the Tigris rivers;

    • South was Ptolemy (Egypt),• West was Antipater (Macedonia/Greece)• East, was Philip/Phriataphernes (Parthia).

    The Beautiful Land was Israel.

We are seeing a shifting of how prophecy students view the old prophecies, changing from a Western perspective to an Eastern perspective. When the view was from a Western perspective then certain Empires were assigned to the beasts, heads, and horns, in Daniel’s prophecies and the 7 heads of the beast of the Book of Revelation so that they fit this Western view. Shifting them back to Middle Eastern empires has brought a new light to shine on the old prophecies and students of this can now view the events of the world today as they are coming to pass. But there remains two, deeply ingrained, teachings of the Western view that need to have this new light shined on them so that all the scriptures testify to a truly Eastern view.

My hope is to help untangle the mess created by this Western view.

The first problem is loosing sight of the fact that the Beast of Revelation 13 is made up of body

  • parts of the four beasts of Daniel. I have seen where this is beginning to be recognized, but onlypartially. Somehow the 7 heads that were on Daniel’s four beasts (the leopard had four making 7 heads altogether for the 4 beasts) is not being recognized. Instead the Beast of Rev 13 seven heads are assigned to other kingdoms instead of just the seven that had been shown to Daniel. He was only shown four great empires and one of them (the leopard) had 4 heads or kingdoms. These seven heads have to be properly identified if we ever hope to truly understand these prophecies.

When reading about the beast of the end days we see that these seven heads are again used to identify where the beast of the end days will emerge from. John is told that 5 have fallen, one is, (in his time) and one is yet to come. For this head that existed at the time of John to be Rome, and the one “yet to come” to be a revived Roman empire then the 7 heads had to be disassociated with the actual 7 heads on Daniel’s four beasts. Seven empires were chosen. Twoempires that existed long before the lion beast even came on the scene were added as the two first heads of this seven. Egypt and Assyrian empires, which were Babylonian empires were added. The four heads of the leopard was counted as only one head and this allows for the 6th head, that was still alive at the time of John, to be Rome.

But this goes a little deeper. One more prophecy had to be distorted for this to all fit together and point to Rome. The true understanding of the 4 horns of the goat vision had to be made irrelevant so that when looking at the seven heads the 6th WOULDN'T be identified as a different empire other than Rome.

Daniel 8 was conformed to the Western view when it was assigned certain empires as being thefour horns of the Goat (which are the same as the 4 heads of the leopard beast).

Daniel is told that the Goat is the Grecian empire and it will be divided into four kingdoms.

  • However, at first it was divided into many more than just four kingdoms (satraps), but in the end the four most powerful did emerge. We have been told by scholars over the centuries that they were; the Seleucus Dynasty in Babylonia, Ptolemy Dynasty in Egypt, Antpater in Greece and Lysimachus in Thrace. With this identification of the four horns/heads, with all four of these horns/kingdoms having already fallen by the time of John, the last one in 30 BC, it seems to make the two prophecies unrelated. So problem solved for those who believe the Western view. In other words the hornson the head of the goat have no relationship with the four heads on the Leopard. Now the leopard can just be counted as one head out of the seven. If the truth were known that the four most powerful of the satraps of the Grecian empire were actually;

Seleucus Dynasty in Babylonia, Ptolemy Dynasty in Egypt, Antipatrid-Antigonid dynasties in Macedonia, And Arsaced Dynasty of Parthia.

    Then Pathia becomes the 6th head that was still alive in the time of John, which it was. It was not conquered until 224 AD by the Romans. When Rome conquered the Parthian Empire it is written that “The last of the Grecian Empire had fallen”. With this information then, and only then, do we see perfect harmony between the prophecies of Daniel and those of the Book of Revelation. The seven heads, or kings/kingdoms of the Beast of Revelation are;

    1. The lion-Babylon 2. The Bear-Media-Persia 3, 4, 5 and 6. The leopard of Greece with it’s four kingdoms 7. The last days kingdom- Islamic Empire and revived empire as the 8th who is really one of the 7 come back for round two. This is only possible to see when Parthia is given it's proper place as one of the 4 horns of the Goat. Notice that all of these empires stemmed from the Middle East. Rome stemmed from the West. .

    See Pathian History and Coins

In Dan 8 God was only making reference to the four of the most powerful dynastys/kingdoms that would emerge out of the empire of Alexander

    http://palehorserising.com/ParthiaHistory.html

  • the Great and those four most powerful were Seleucus Dynasty in Babylonia, Ptolemy Dynasty in Egypt, Antipater-Antipatrid-Antigonid dynasties in Macedonia, and the Arsaced Dynasty of Parthia. These satraps (provinces of the Grecian empire) soon began warring against one anotherfor the purpose of taking over all of Alexander's empire and uniting it once again under one ruler. Generation after generation of wars in which each gained land and lost land many times over. Parthia was a province (satrapy) of the Grecian empire the same as, Egypt, Babylonia, etc. As such it isa candidate as one of the four horns of the Ram (Grecian empire) in Daniel's vision. In time the satrapy of Parthia expanded to the west and to the south, conquering large portions of the Seleucus Kingdom. By the fall of the last of the Seleucus Dynasty to Rome, Parthia at its height controlled most of Armenia, Mesopotamia/Babylon, Persia, and Afghanistan becoming one of the most powerful kingdoms to come out of the Grecian Empire. Dan 8:9 And out of one of them came forth a rather small horn which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east and toward the beautiful land.

.This little horn comes out of one of the horns of the Grecian empire. Now by the process of elimination we can see it is not the south or east horns.Through history I found that it was out of the Seleucus Dynasty, the North horn (yellow on the map) that began attacking the kings of the South and East and finally took control over Israel fulfilling this verse. He was trying to expand his kingdom and unite the Empire once again, only this time under his rule. Many people believe this is the little horn of the fourth beast of the last vision. But this little horn comes out of the Goat, Grecian empire, and it is the 3rd beast that is Grecian not the 4th beast so we shouldn't try to combine them into one beast to get onelittle horn. This is a completely different little horn. This little horn will come up at the end of the empire which he came out of, which was Greece, the goat, but it was at the end of the Seleucid empire, one of the 4 horns that was located in the old Babylon area. God will just keep bringing us back to the area of old King Neb's empire. God tells us what things that this little horn will do and how it will end. Map:Greece Splits into Four Empires

  • .

Vrs. 10-12 and it will grow up to the host of heaven and cause some of the stars to fallto the earth, and it trampled them down. It even magnified to be equal with the Commander of hosts; and it removed the regular sacrifice from Him, and the place ofHis sanctuary was thrown down. And on account of transgression the host will be given over along with the regular sacrifice; and it will fling truth to the ground and performs its will and prospers.

.Seleucus had captured Jerusalem and held it under Seleucid rule. A Jewish man was trying to bring down Onias the High priest and had failed. He then betrayed his people by going to tell Seleucus of the treasures in the temple and Seleucus sent an army to retrieve the treasures, but then God sent angels to defeat them. So the army returned to tell the king. But Seleucus had died by the time the army reached him and in his place a despicable man had taken the kingship, Antiochus IV.Antiochus IV was angered when he heard the news and what God had done, so he replaced Onias with Jason, opposing God. He appointed Jason to set up a new constitution and put a gymnasium on the Temple Mount and abolished the services andsacrifices at the Temple at this time.In Vrs. 13 the question is asked,"How long will the vision about the regular sacrifice apply, while the transgression causes horror, so as to allow both the holy place and the host to be trampled?".He is told,"For 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the holy place will be properly restored."

  • ."For 2,300 evenings and mornings" meaning 1,150 mornings and 1,150 evenings..The 1150 morning and 1150 evening sacrifices being abolished was what took place when Antiochus IV Antiochus IV replaced the High Priest, Onias III, (Prince of the covenant) with Jason as High Priest who began to Hellenize Jerusalem. Menelaus then bought the bid for high priest and later killed Jason, but Menelaus was of the line of Benjamin not Levi. This is a false High Priest, an abomination to God. Menelaus desecrated the Temple, ransacking it and taking the sacred vessels. This is when the sacrifices would have been stopped.Antiochus IV then went to Egypt for two months and the Jews heard he died in a war with Ptolemy and had a great celebration of his death. Antiochus had not died, and whenhe heard of this he returned and ransacked Jerusalem, and caused pigs to be sacrificed on the altar and the Jews were forced to either eat it or be tortured to death. Many chose death. This sacrificing of pig on the altar caused a rebellion among the Jews and it took 3 years for them to defeat Antiochus IV and restore the Temple. The dedication of the Temple became know as Hanukkah. The miracle of the oil.. I believe that is why the angel said; "And the vision of the evenings and mornings which has been told to you is true." He knew the Jews would not count it from the time of the false High Priest stopping the sacrifices, but instead would count only from the time pigs were being sacrificed to Zeus. That is just my opinion.. God continues to identify the last days, Northern king, in the next vision given to Daniel called the King of the North.

    Chapter 4

Dan 11: A Time Line Given to Daniel Concerning the Kings of the North and South

  • By the time you finish reading this vision of Daniel you will understand that the last days empire is a revived Islamic empire. This vision takes us from the first King of the North in the time of Daniel up tothe last King of the North, who is the leader of the last days beast.

Daniel had been beseeching the Lord for three weeks for an answer and after three weeks an angel came and gave him this time line. A time line that would go from the time of Darius the Mead, a king of the north in Daniel's time, all the way to the last king of the North, one that we call the antichrist Empire in our time.

It is important to remember that the "he" in these verses refers only to Kings who ruled in the North (from an area between the Tigris and the Euphrates rivers) and to the King of the South, (who was the ruler from Egypt).

This prophecy is a time-line. It begins with the last of the Median-Persian kings, which are then conquered by the Grecian/Macedonian Empire under Alexander the Great. This empire was divided into satraps between 22 of Alexanders generals, but in the Ram and Goat vision God centers in on the four most powerful of this group and the last one that will still be in place at the time when John wrote the Book of Revelation.

At some point in time it was decided by scholars who these four generals should be and included Lysimachus of Thrace instead of the satrap of Parthia as the last horn, but Parthia became one of the most powerful empires, not Thrace under Lysimachus. I believe the true four horn dynasties were; Ptolemy dynasty in the South (Egypt), and Seleucid dynasty in the North (Babylon-Anitola), Antipater in the west (Macedonia) and east, , Philip-Phrataphernes (Parthia) which fell in 224 AD.

Dan 11 lists the exploits of the generations of two of these generals. Seleucus Dynasty (Babylon) and Ptolemy Dynasty (Egypt). This is to show us that in the end times a revived empire will be a king of the North, just like all of the former kings listed in this prophecy. These kings of the North ruled over Israel from the Babylon area, and so will the last king of the North. The lands of all of these former kings are now Islamic countries.

The kingdom of Babylon was taken over by the Media-Persians who took possession of the kingdom and ruled over Israel from Babylon.

Dan 10:1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel,

559-530 BC: Cyrus II The Great, first king of Persia, (ends 70 year exile of the Jews) Dan. 11:2a And now I will tell you the truth. Behold, three more kings are going to arise in Persia.

530-521 BC: Reign of Artaxerxes (Ahasuerus in Hebrew), Cambyses II

522-522 BC: There was a usurper for 10 months in 522. He faked being Smerdis, Cyrus' son, who had

  • been killed. 522-485 BC: Reign of Darius I, the Great

Dan. 11:2b Then a fourth will gain more riches than them all; as soon as he becomes strong through his riches, he will arouse the whole Empire of Greece.

485-465 BC: Reign of Xerxes I, Invaded Greece in 480 BC

In my Opinion the remaining Persin kings, until the fall of the Empire, are not listed by God in this prophecy, only those that ruled before the Empire of Greece is stirred up against Media-Persia.

(Note: The next king, 465-424 BC: Reign of Artaxerxes I, Longimanus, in his 7th year issued the decree for Ezra go to Israel (457-8 BC) to rebuild the city, followed by Nehemiah in the 20th year (444-5 BC) of this king.) to rebuild the walls.

Dan. 11: 3-4 And a mighty King will arise, and will rule with great authority and do as he pleases. But as soon as he has arisen, his kingdom will be broken up and parceled out towards the four points of the compass, not to his descendants, nor according to his authority which he wielded; for his sovereignty will be uprooted and given to others besides them.

This was Alexander The Great, King of the Grecian Empire. When he took over Babylon he also made it his palace and ruled from there and died there, making him also a king of the North.

Dan 11:4 "But as soon as he has arisen, his kingdom will be broken up and parceled out toward the four points of the compass, though not to his {own} descendants, nor according to his authority which he wielded, for his sovereignty will be uprooted and {given} to others besides them.

When he died his kingdom was not passed on to his son, which he had through a Persian woman, but tohis Generals (Princes). Two of these Generals became very great, Ptolemy, who took over Egypt in the South, and Seleucus I, who took the area of old Babylon, founding the city of Seleucia on the River Tigris. His kingdom stretched from Syria to India, and, because of this, he is sometimes referred to as the king of Syria. Seleucus I, became the next king of the North.

Dan. 11: 5-6 "Then the king of the South will grow strong, along with {one} of his princes who will gain ascendancy over him and obtain dominion; his domain {will be} a great dominion {indeed.} After some years they will form an alliance, and the daughter of the king of the South will come to the king of the North to carry out a peaceful arrangement. But she will not retain her position of power, nor will he remain with his power, but she will be given up, along with those who brought her in and the one who sired her as well as he who supported her in those times.

Verse 6 begins with Ptolemy II king (309-246 BC) (south) who gave his daughter, Bernice, as wife to

  • Seleucus's son, Antiochus II (north). This made her next in line to be Queen of the Seleucus Kingdom. But within a few years Antiochus' former wife had her killed, and her infant son, and then also had Antiochus II himself killed.

Dan. 11: 7-8 But one of the descendants of her line will arise in his place, and he will come against their army and enter the fortress of the king of the North, and he will deal with them and display great strength. :8 Also their gods with their metal images and their precious vessels of silver and gold he willtake into captivity to Egypt, and he on his part will refrain from attacking the king of the North for some years. But one of Bernice's descendants was Ptolemy III, who avenged her death as we see in verse 7-8 as he not only defeats the king of the North but also brings back the riches into Egypt.

Dan. 11: 9 Then the latter will enter the realm of the king of the South, but will return to his own land. The "latter" being the North in the last verse.

This Northern king was Seleucus II attacked Egypt but was not successful.

Dan. 11: 10 "And his sons will mobilize and assemble a multitude of great forces; and *one of them will keep coming and overflow and pass through, that he may again wage war up to his very fortress".These were the two sons of Seleucus II, namely Seleucus III (226-223)and his brother Antiochus III (223-187 BC) .They were the next generations of Kings of the North that attacked the Southern kingdom.

The next 9 verses describe this war:

Dan. 11: 11-12 The king of the South will be enraged and go forth and fight with the king of the North. Then the latter will raise a great multitude, but that multitude will be given into the hand of the former. :12 When the multitude is carried away, his heart will be lifted up, and he will cause tensof thousands to fall; yet he will not prevail. The king of the South was Ptolemy V. Dan. 11: 11-12 The king of the South will be enraged and go forth and fight with the king of the North. Then the latter will raise a great multitude, but that multitude will be given into the hand of the former. :12 When the multitude is carried away, his heart will be lifted up, and he will cause tensof thousands to fall; yet he will not prevail.Antiochus III brought in Philip, the king of Macedonia, and his armies to help defeat Ptolemy IV and Ptolemy V but this was unsuccessful.

Dan. 11: 15-16 Then the king of the North will come, cast up a siege ramp and capture a well-fortified city; and the forces of the South will not stand their ground, not even their choicest troops, for there will be no strength to make a stand. :16 But he who comes against him will do as he

  • pleases, and no one will be able to withstand him; he will also stay for a time in the Beautiful Land, with destruction in his hand.Antiochus III was soldier of great ability. Between 212 to 205 BC he conquered Jerusalem from Ptolemy V along with his entire empire outside of Egypt. Antiochus's newly captured territory includedJudea and Jerusalem.

Dan. 11: 17 He will set his face to come with the power of his whole kingdom, bringing with him a proposal of peace which he will put into effect; he will also give him the daughter of women to ruin it. But she will not take a stand for him or be on his side. 18-19 Then he will turn his face to the coastlands and capture many. But a commander will put a stop to his scorn against him; moreover, he will repay him for his scorn. :19 So he will turn his face toward the fortresses of his own land, but he will stumble and fall and be found no more.Antiochus III began attacking the coastland but Rome came against him and he lost quickly. He was later killed while sacking a temple in Persia. Antiochus III sought to bring peace between Syria and Egypt (under duress by Rome) by giving his daughter, Cleopatra to marry Ptolemy V Epiphanies of Egypt. Although Antiochus III hoped to destroy the land of Egypt through his daughter, he did not succeed because she always sided with her husband Ptolemy V (Note: This was not the famous Cleopatra; she was number 7.)

Dan. 11: 18-19 Then he will turn his face to the coastlands and capture many. But a commander will put a stop to his scorn against him; moreover, he will repay him for his scorn. :19 So he will turn his face toward the fortresses of his own land, but he will stumble and fall and be found no more.

This was Seleucus IV. Rome got a foothold by taking his infant son and holding him hostage. Rome then demanded taxes in payment. They never returned his eldest son. Seleucus IV died of natural causes.

Dan. 11:20 “Then in his place one will arise who will send an oppressor through the Jewel of his kingdom; yet within a few days he will be shattered, though not in anger nor in battle.

    This was Seleucus Philopator

Note: Notice when it says "In his place" The word "place" means "estate, base", which means a new king of the same kingdom as the previous one mentioned in the prior verse. This is seen in vrs 7, 20, 21.

Dan 11:21-24 "In his place a despicable person will arise, on whom the honor of kingship has not been conferred, but he will come in a time of tranquility and seize the kingdom by intrigue. :22 "The overflowing forces will be flooded away before him and shattered, and also the prince of the covenant. :23 "After an alliance is made with him he will practice deception, and he will go up and gain power

  • with a small {force of} people. :24 "In a time of tranquility he will enter the richest {parts} of the realm, and he will accomplish what his fathers never did, nor his ancestors; he will distribute plunder, booty and possessions among them, and he will devise his schemes against strongholds, but {only} for a time.

Now at this point we can look back to the Goat vision and see what he did and how much time was allotted to him for the desecrating of the temple and stopping of the daily sacrifice.

Dan : 8Then the male goat magnified {himself} exceedingly. But as soon as he was mighty, the large horn was broken; and in its place there came up four conspicuous {horns} toward the four winds of heaven. 9And out of one of them came forth a rather small horn which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the Beautiful {Land.} 11It even magnified {itself} to be equal with the Commander of the host; and it removed the regular sacrifice from Him, and the place ofHis sanctuary was thrown down. 12And on account of transgression the host will be given over {to the horn} along with the regular sacrifice; and it will fling truth to the ground and perform {its will} and prosper.

8:23``And in the latter period of their rule, When the transgressors have run {their course,} A king will arise Insolent and skilled in intrigue. 24``And his power will be mighty, but not by his {own} power, And he will destroy to an extraordinary degree And prosper and perform {his will;} He will destroy mighty men and the holy people.25``And through his shrewdness He will cause deceit to succeed by his influence; And he will magnify {himself} in his heart, And he will destroy many while {they are} at ease.He will even oppose the Prince of princes, But he will be broken without human agency

The prince of the covenant and the Price of princes is the High Priest.

Antiochus IV (King 175-163 BC) who was called Antiochus Epiphanies, was this "despicable" or "vile" person who came to the throne of Syria/Babylon in 175 BC. These prophesies fit him like a glove. "Epiphanies" means "illustrious" but he was only so in his own eyes, though he flattered many. As the son and a potential successor of King Antiochus III, Antiochus became a political hostage of Rome in 188 BC. When his older brother, Seleucus IV followed his father onto the throne in 187 BC, Antiochus was exchanged for his nephew Demetrius I (the son and heir of Seleucus). After King Seleucus was assassinated by a usurper, in 175 BC, Antiochus in turn ousted him. Since Seleucus' legitimate heir, Demetrius I Soter, was still a hostage in Rome, Antiochus, with the help of King Eumenes II of Pergamum, seized the throne for himself, proclaiming himself co-regent for another son of Seleucus, an infant named Antiochus (whom he then murdered a few years later).

Dan 11-29-30 At the appointed time he (king of North) will return and come into the south, but this last time it will not turn out the way it did before. :30; for the ships of Kittim will come against him; therefore he will be disheartened, and will return and become enraged at the holy covenant, and take action, so he will come back and show regard for those who forsake the holy covenant.

Antiochus attempted to attack Egypt one more time but was stopped by the Roman's who drew a circle

  • in the sand threatening him to retreat or face the armies of Rome. Antiochus retreated, but returned to Israel to vent his rage.

Dan. 11:31 "And forces from him (the north) will arise, desecrate the sanctuary fortress, and do away with the regular sacrifice. And they will set up the abomination of desolation.

The most important thing is to understand that the abominations in Dan 9:27, are not the same as the abomination of desolation in Dan 11:31. This is not a full destruction of the Temple and city as it was in 70 AD by the Romans, it is only a desecration of the fortress of the Temple.

Dan 11:32-35 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do [exploits]. :33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, [many] days. :34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries. :35 And [some] of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make [them] white, [even] to the time of the end: because [it is] yet for a time appointed. Dan 11:36-38 "Then the king will do as he pleases, and he will exalt and magnify himself above every god and will speak monstrous things against the God of gods; and he will prosper until the indignation is finished , for that which is decreed will be done. 38 "He will show noregard for the gods of his fathers or for the desire of women, nor will he show regard for any other god; for he will magnify himself above them all. "But instead he will honor a god of fortresses, a god whom his fathers did not know; he will honor him with gold, silver, costly stones and treasures.

End Days EventsThe next verses have never been fulfilled in history by anyone. This concerns the revived empire of theend days. Also known as the little horn on the 4th beast of Daniel 7:25.

Dan 11:40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

The king of the South always pushed at the North from Israel. So this battle will take place there.

Dan 11:41a He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many shall be overthrown:

This means the king of the North will enter Israel. The king of the North always included the lands of Iraq and Syria so these countries will be the base of his empire.

Dan 11:41b ..but these shall escape out of his hand, [even] Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon are the country of Jordan today.

  • Below we see that Egypt, although Islamic, will be under attack by other Arab nations. Why? For two reasons. First, because the Egyptian government (where the treasure is kept) have an agreement with Israel that if Israel is attacked by an Arab country they will fight on the side of Israel. Second, because Egypt represents the leaders of the Arab world and the Arab world tends to listen to them. For the Kingof the North to take the position as Leader of the Arab world through conquering Israel he must get rid of the Egyptian rulers.

Dan 11:42 -43 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape. :43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians [shall be] at his steps.

Egypt will be attacked by two of her neighbors and they will take control of the government of Egypt and become the force against Israel through the Sinai.

Historically, the King of the South is Egypt and the king of the North was located in the Babylon area and included Syria and Lebanon in its kingdom. In the middle was Israel. It was under the rule of one or the other as a spoil of war over and over again. The wars of kings of the North and kings of the southwere most often fought in Northern Israel in what God calls the valley of decision, also called Armageddon.

    1. The South must push at the North. If a Caliphate is set up in Iraq after the US pulls out then one Muslim nation that will not want this will be Egypt. I would expect them to try and put downthis Caliphate. 2. Libya and Ethiopia must attack the government of Egypt. Egypt will be conquered. 3. The North must attack Israel. After conquering the nations that haven't willingly joined him this Caliph will then come at Israel a great force.

Also see the Gog Magog war, because it is the same war as this one.

Dan 11:44 But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many. :45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

He takes Jerusalem and will meet his end because of it.

Now at the time of this last king of the North the resurrection/rapture will take place, as we see inthe beginning verses of Chapter 12.

Dan 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even]to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. :2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame [and] everlasting contempt.

  • Chapter 12 goes on to tell the times involved, first, for the end days and second as an answer to Daniel's question concerning the taking away of the daily sacrifice until the abomination is set up in theTemple.

Dan 12:6-7 And [one] said to the man clothed in linen, which [was] upon the waters of the river, How long [shall it be to] the end of these wonders? And I heard the man clothed in linen, which [was] upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that [it shall be] for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these [things] shall be finished.

Time by the Hebrew calendar. One Hebrew year, times 3, plus a half of one year.

"time, times, and half" = 354x3=1062+177=1239 days This is the same as the 42 months spoken of in the Book of Revelation. If we use the Hebrew calendar. 42 moons is 1239 days of the end days of the Book of Revelation. In Dan 7:25 the 4th beast, which is the same empire as the last King of the North, shows this same "times, time and half time" appointed to it and is refering the the last king of the North in the end days..

Daniel's question is different than the one above and refers us back to verse 31 and the desecration of the Temple and city.

Dan 12:8-11 As for me, I heard but could not understand; so I said, “My lord, what will be the outcome of these events? ” He said, “Go your way, Daniel, for these words are concealed and sealed up until the end time. “Many will be purged, purified and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand. "Andfrom the time [that] the daily [sacrifice] shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, [there shall be] a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

Dan 12:12 Blessed [is] he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.1290 + 45 =1335

I have been asking the Lord about Antiochus IV and how he stopped the sacrifices for 2,300 morning and evening sacrifices and yet also in Dan 12:8-12 . Both of these prophecies are speaking of the time involved with Antiochus IV and how long the sacrifices were stopped, which seems to be a contradiction of times between the two prophecies.

What if God is only counting the sacrifices to Him that were NOT MADE? This does not have tomean they were consecutive days without sacrifices, but just when all the missed sacrifices were added up they amounted to 2,300 morning and evening sacrifices, or 1150 days. I think this is thekey to understanding the difference between the times given in the two prophecies.

  • From the time of the first morning or evening sacrifice that was not made until the Abomination was set up, (statue of Zeus) in the Temple, would be 1290 days. Then another 45 more days until the blessed day when the Temple would be restored and rededicated, 1335 days total. See chart below. TheJews claim that the statue was set up on Keslev (Nov-Dec) 25, 168 BC, and by the Jewish calendar (1062 days), exactly 3 years later on Keslev 25, 165 BC the Temple was cleansed. But the angel said it was true that there would be 1150 days worth of morning and evening sacrifice not made during the time of Antiochus, which is 88 more days (3 months) without a sacrifices than the Jews actually claim.

But this is my understanding; it would be 1150 days worth of morning and evening sacrifices, which were NOT made, over the whole of 1335 days (again, the 1150 days are not consecutive)

Yet 1335 days equals 2,670 mornings and evenings not 2,300 mornings and evenings. (2,670 - 2,300= 370 morning and evening sacrifices not reconciled, or a 185 day difference between the two prophecies). Refer to chart below.

So how can we reconcile these two prophecies to what actually took place with Antiohus IV? Antiochus ruled from 175 BC until 164 BC. During this time the Jews were in a civil war between the orthodox Jews and the Hellenization Jews. In 175 BC Antiochus installed Jason, a Hellenized High Priest, which is said of him, “The craze for Hellenism and foreign customs reached such a pitch, through the outrageous wickedness of the ungodly pseudo-high-priest Jason, that the priests no longer cared about the service of the altar. Disdaining the temple and neglecting the sacrifices” Jason evidently stopped the sacrifices for 88 days, (3 months) altogether.

“In 171, Jason sent Menelaus, the brother of Simon the Benjamite, to Antiochus IV, but Menelaus secretly betrayed him by outbidding him by 300 talents.” becoming High Priest.

Menelaus robbed the temple of the sacred vessels to pay off this debt, then continued to steal from the Temple, but kept the sacrifices for 185 days (6 months). Then in 170 BC while Antiochus was in EgyptJason was successful in defeating Menelaus and tried to take the Temple, believing that Antiochus had died. When Antiochus heard of this he regarded this move by Jason, and the Jews that backed him, as an affront upon his majesty, and, having been compelled by the Romans to leave Egypt or else, he marched against Jerusalem, massacred many inhabitants, and plundered the Temple and set up the statue of Zeus, in 168 BC, and stopped the sacrifices for another 1062 days. (88+1062=1150 days or 2300 morning and evening sacrifices. Refer to chart below.

Altogether from the first day the morning sacrifice did not take place until the statue of Zeus was set upwas 1290 days, with a 6 month break in between (88 w/o+185 with+1062 w/o= 1335), continuing as stopped, till the end of the 45 days, until the Jews defeated Antiochus' army and then rededicated the Temple. During that time the sacrifices would not take place for 1150 of the 1335 days.

  • Here is a chart showing how this works.

The three years counted by the Jews are counting from the time Antiochus set up the statue of Zeus (Abomination of Desolation), and not counting the failure of Jason to perform the sacrifices for 88 dayswhile trying to Hellenize the Jews, because the sacrifices were reinstated after that. That is why the Jews only count from Keslev 25, 165 to Keslev 25, 168 for the time that the temple was desecrated. From the A of D until the dedication of the Temple.

But we see from what is written by Paul to the Thessalonians that the A of D expected to come is a man. One that stands in the Holy Place. So when Jesus say to look back to Daniel for the answer then itis not the statue of Zeus that was the A of D but in fact the false Priest making sacrifice in the Temple for 185 days. A false High Priest not of the blood line is putting himself above all that God calls Holy. Above the law as if he were God. He is called the Lawless One. This what also happened in 70 AD.

People speak of shadows in the prophecies that can point to more than one event. I thought this was interesting concerning these years when applied to the Islamic empire. If this blessed year is June 8,1967 when the Jews captured Jerusalem and we count back 45 years it is 1922 when the Jews were given a homeland of Israel. And if we count back 1290 more years it is June 8, 632 it is the very day Mohammad died. Now I am not sure how this works but I know that the Caliph, Omar, that took overon the day of Mohamed's death conquered Jerusalem within 4 years and set up an abomination that willat some time in our future bring about the destruction. This abomination is the Al Aqsa mosque. The first one was built of wood and years later replaced with the one we see today. It is because of this falsereligion of Mohamed's that there is no sacrifices or Temple on the sanctuary fortress (Temple Mount) all these years.

This section on the identity of these kings was first written in the spring of 1991.

  • Chapter 5

The Olivet Discourse part oneTHIS TELL US THAT THE GREAT TRIBULATION BEGAN WHEN THE TEMPLE WAS DESTROYED and THE JEWS WERE TAKEN CAPTIVE INTO THE NATIONS. IT IS VERYIMPORTANT FOR US TO UNDERSTAND WHAT JESUS WAS SAYING.

These three accounts are concerning the same discourse given by Jesus spoken onthe same day and time.

Matthew, Mark and Luke were not there to hear Jesus teaching. They wrote later and accordingly to the audience that would be reading it. This is known because in the Mark account at the end of chapter 12 it tells of Jesus' teaching concerning the poor widow woman giving her last two pennies, and Luke begins with the same event about the poor widow woman.

Mark 12:41-44 And He sat down opposite the treasury, and began observing how the people were putting money into the treasury; and many rich people were putting in large sums. A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins , which amount to a cent. Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the contributors to the treasury; for they all put in out of their surplus, but she, out of her poverty, put in all she owned, all she had to live on.” Mar 13:1 As He was going out of the temple, one of His disciples *said to Him, "Teacher, behold what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!"

Luke 21:2-5 And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury. And He saw a poor widow putting fnin two small copper coins. And He said, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all of them; for they all out of their fnsurplus put into the offering; but she out of her poverty put in all that she had to live on. And while some were talking about the temple, that it was adorned with beautiful stones and votive gifts, He said,

So Mark and Luke are in agreement of what event begins the Discourse given be Jesus on that day.

From the temple they then journeyed up the Mount of Olives

  • Mat 24:1 Jesus came out from the temple and was going away when His disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to Him. Mar 13:1 As He was going out of the temple, one of His disciples *said to Him, "Teacher, behold what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!" Luk 21:5 And while some were talking about the temple, that it was adorned with beautiful stones and votive gifts, He said,

Mat 24:2 And He said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down." Mar 13:2 And Jesus said to him, "Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left upon another which will not be torn down." Luk 21:6 "{As for} these things which you are looking at, the days will come in which there will not be left one stone upon another which will not be torn down."

What beautiful buildings were they speaking of to Jesus? Herod's Temple. The beautiful whitestones he used to build the temple and outer buildings. Jesus was not being shown the wallsof the Mount, only the buildings of Herod.

Jesus was being specific. Those buildings you are speaking "looking at" Not one stone will be left upon another. Not some future temple on the Mount of today that may or may not ever be built. He spoke of the great buildings of Herod!

Mat 24:3 As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things happen, and what {will be} the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?" Mar 13:3 As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew were questioning Him privately, :4 "Tell us, when will these things be, and what {will be} the sign when all these things are going to be fulfilled?" Luk 21:7 They questioned Him, saying, "Teacher, when therefore will these things happen? And what {will be} the sign when these things are about to take place?"

They asked when Herod's temple would be destroyed, and they also asked what signs to look for concerning the coming of the end of the age and the sign of His coming... believing the two events were to happen close together. Jesus began by partially answering their second question, what will be the signs of your coming.

These are signs we will look for in our generation as the end nears.

Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. Mar 13:5 And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any [man] deceive you: Luk 21:8a And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived:

Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

  • Mar 13:6 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am [Christ]; and shall deceive many. Luk 21:8b And He said, "See to it that you are not misled; for many will come in My name, saying, 'I am {He,}' and, 'The time is near.' Do not go after them.

Mat 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is not yet. Mar 13:7 And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for [such things] must needs be; but the end [shall] not [be] yet. Luk 21:9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end [is] not by and by.

Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. Mar 13:8a For nation shall rise against nation , and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: Luk 21:10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

Mat 24:8 All these [are] the beginning of sorrows. Mar 13:8b these [are] the beginnings of sorrows. Luk 21:12 But before all these,

When Luke says "But before all these" he is telling us that these things Jesus said first would not happen first, but would take place later in the time-line after the abomination of Desolation. They are the beginning of the sorrows leading to the end of the age. Luke understanding that the beginning of sorrows are the calamities that precede the final days, said "But before these".

We can see the false christs (messiahs) and the wars and rumors of wars and earthquakes and famines happening in this world now and have been increasing in intensity steadily for over a decade as we near the end of the age.

NOTE: This is what "sorrows" is referring to according to the Blue Letter Bible on line: 2) intolerable anguish, in reference to the dire calamities precede the advent of the Messiah.

So we need to mentally reinsert these birth pangs as being later in the time line, closer to Hisreturn at a place where Jesus will sow us later in the discourse.

Some believe that ALL of Matt 24 is going to take place in the last 7 years of this age, but thedestruction of the temple already happened in 70 AD exactly as Jesus described. The reason the Romans took the temple and all the buildings down stone by stone was to retrieve the gold that had melted and run into the cracks between and under the stones.

  • Their questions were in response to Jesus' prophecy about the temple's destruction, not one stone upon another, and the apostles want to know when this destruction of the temple and buildings they had been looking at was going to happen. Since they were Jews we can only imagine how this prophecy must have affected them. Their beloved Temple was going to be utterly destroyed. Of course they are going to ask more. "Tell us of these things?"

So Jesus will lead up slowly to the answer they seek about the Temple destruction because even though the disciples believe this is all going to happen within their generation, even the end of the age, we know only the destruction of the Temple will happen in their generation.

And we know that the events of their second question, "when will be the end of the age and your coming?", won't take place for almost two thousand years. They however tie the destruction of the Temple to the end of the age and Jesus' coming as King.

The Temple being destroyed in the manner of "not one stone left upon another" took place in70 AD so Jesus starts the time-line before that time. He begins by telling the disciples what will happen to them very shortly.

(Again take note that Luke is telling of the same events in the same order as the other two writers.)

Mat 24:9 "Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by allnations because of My name. Mar 13:9 "But be on your guard; for they will deliver you to {the} courts, and you will be floggedin {the} synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony tothem. Luk 21:12 "But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for My name's sake.

Mar 13:10 "The gospel must first be preached to all the nations. Luk 21:13 "It will lead to an opportunity for your testimony.(:14) "So make up your minds not to prepare beforehand to defend yourselves; (:15) for I will give you utterance and wisdom whichnone of your opponents will be able to resist or refute. Matthew says this at the end of this section of events that take place before 70 AD.

Mat 24:10 "At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. Mar 13:12 "Brother will betray brother to death, and a father {his} child; and children will rise up against parents and have them put to death. Luk 21:16 "But you will be betrayed even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends , andthey will put {some} of you to death,

  • Mat 24:11 "Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. (:12)"Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold. (:13)"But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. Mar 13:13 "You will be hated by all because of My name, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. Luk 21:17 and you will be hated by all because of My name.(:18) "Yet not a hair of your head will perish. (:19)"By your endurance you will gain your lives.

Mat 24:14 "This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

This is the apostasy that will happen among the Jews before the abomination will stand in the Holy Place. (See also the link; 2Thes who is the restrainer?)

In the next section, we read of the Abomination of Desolation and the destruction of the Temple that Jesus told them about.

Now we are getting down to the nitty gritty. This is where the saying "rightly dividing the word" comes into play. It isn't always easy to do this, especially when the discourse is so longand one must consider three different accounts of the discourse to discover the truth of it.

But when we do it in-depth like this, then the scripture itself reveals the truth. The most important part of rightly dividing the scripture is to keep it in the context it was written in.

So, up to this point Jesus has not answered the first question that the disciples asked: Luk 21:7.."Teacher, when therefore will these things happen? But now He does.

Mat 24:15 "Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), Mar 13:14a "But when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION standing where it should not be (let the reader understand), Luk 21:20 "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then recognize that her *desolation is near.

Mat 24:16 then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains. Mar 13:14b then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains. Luk 21:21a "Then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains,

    Mat 24:17 "Whoever is on the housetop must not go down to get the things out that are in his house. (:18) "Whoever is in the field must not turn back to get his cloak. Mar 13:15 "The one who is on the housetop must not go down, or go in to get anything out of his house; (:16) and the one who is in the field must not turn back to get his coat. Luk 21:21b and those who are in the midst of the city must leave, and those who are in the country must not enter the city;

  • Luk 21:22 because these are days of vengeance, so that all things which are written will be fulfilled.

The days of the destruction of City and Temple.

    Mat 24:19 "But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! (:20) "But pray that your flight will not be in the winter, or on a Sabbath. Mar 13:17 "But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! (:18) "But pray that it may not happen in the winter. Luk 21:23a "Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days;

So far these have all been the same, so believe that Luke is speaking of the same time-line of events in these next verses also.

Mat 24:21 "For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will. Mar 13:19 "For those days will be a {time of} tribulation such as has not occurred since the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never will. Luk 21:23b for there will be great distress upon the land and wrath to this people; (:24) and they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem will be trampled under foot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. Luke has just made it VERY clear that the time of the Jews taken into the nations begins when Jerusalem falls because that is when the Jews were carried into the nations, and also lets the reader know that this will not end until the time of the Gentile is complete! Personally I believe that this time in the nations for the Jews, where they would be in exile, came to an end in 1967 When the Jews captured and entered back into Jerusalem.

But it sounds like Luke was talking about some other time in history because he says to watch for when the city is encompassed and doesn't tell about the abomination standing where it ought not like the other two apostles did. Both happened. History tells us that the Zealots, that the Romans were chasing down, fled to Jerusalem and begged to be let in. General Vespasian was at their heels. He surrounded Jerusalem with his armies. Inside Jerusalem the Zealots took the temple and set up the abomination which was a false priest inthe temple. But then for some reason the general withdrew his armies. This gave all that would heed Jesus warning to flea out of the city. Within the month Titus arrived with his armies and destroyed not only the temple but also the Holy City and killed over a million Jewsand carried the rest of the population of Jerusalem captive into the nations. See Josephus "The Jewish Wars" for this history.

  • Mat 24:22 "Unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short. Mar 13:20 "Unless the Lord had shortened {those} days, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect, whom He chose, He shortened the days.

I believe that the discourse is speaking of the “ great distress (great tribulation) upon the land and wrath to this people;” Is what was cut short or no life (of the Jews in Jerusalem) would have been saved. Now we must go back and look at Daniel to see more about these days of vengeance Luke spoke of, and what Jesus said would happen to the Temple (not one stone left upon another)during the time of vengeance.

    Chapter 6

The Seventy Weeks of Daniel The prophecy is about the coming

Messiah, and what He will do when He arrives, and what will happen as a result of the Jewish

nations rejection of Him.All of the perimeters are set in the first verse of the this prophecy. It is 70 weeks appointed for Daniel's people only. In Daniel a "week of seven" equals 7 years. Seventy times seven equals 490 years.

Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy

They only have 70 weeks to:

  • 1. Finish the transgression

    2.Make an end of sins

    3.to atone for wickedness

    4.Bring in everlasting righteousness

5.Seal up the vision and prophecy

    6.Anoint the most Holy

In hindsight we know this means they have 70 weeks to accept their Messiah as the Son of God since these things can not be accomplished accept through Jesus.

Jesus was "cut off" during the 70th week Dan 9:25 Know therefore and understand, [that] from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince [shall be] seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times 26; And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off,

Notice that it says AFTER the 69th week. Not before, or on the last day of the 69th week, but after it is over, which puts His being "cut off" as taking place during the 70th week.

Some believe that the final 70th week is left till the end days, but Jesus already used a portion of it because He was cut off during the 70th week.

The first "seven sevens" a sabbatical week equals 49 years. This is the amount in a Jubilee year. Then 434 more years remain until Messiah comes. That is a total of 69 of the 70 weeks.

When was the Decree given? It is known that the first 7 weeks (49 years) begins with a decree to "restore and to build Jerusalem."Notice that this refers to the whole city of Jerusalem, not just the Temple, which was an earlier decree given by Cyrus the Great.

The rebuilding would include, "the street shall be built again, and the moat/wall, even in troubloustimes" and this didn't happen until the return of Ezra followed by Nehemiah who built the walls. History shows us that the decree of Cyrus did not result in the city being rebuilt. Neither did the decree of Darius, only the Temple building was completed under that first decree.

The decree of Artaxerxes in 457 BC did exactly that. (Hebrew year 3305)

  • NOTE: There is no reason to convert the 490 years to 365.25 days per year because the Jewish calendarcontains an extra month of Adar added three years, and over given period of time of 19 years the days will be the same as in the Georgian calendar. The Jewish year doesn't add up to 360 days per year because the calendar is set from new moon to new moon.

When Jesus began His ministry, the people were in expectation of the coming of the Messiah at that time.

Jesus tells us that "the time has been "fulfilled"

Mark 1:15 "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye and believe the gospel" KJV

Jesus was born approximately 4 BC.John the Baptist began his ministry in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar (Luke 3: 1-3) when Jesus had begun to be about 30 years old at His Baptism. This means it was 26/27 AD when Jesus was baptized. Tiberius Caesar reigned for two years before his formal coronation. So he began to reign in 12 AD.

Quote; Luke 3:1 reads "...in year but five and tenth of the governorship of Tiberius Caesar" [emphasis added]. In the year 12 AD, Tiberius was made military governor (commander) over Caesar's vast armies and provinces by the ailing Augustus, at which time Augustus had compelled his estranged- widow Julia to marry Tiberius, thus historically qualifies as his 1st year of governorship. Ancient coins from Antioch dated AUC 765[12 AD] display the head of Tiberius with the inscription: 'Kaisar Sebastos' [Caesar Augustus]. An ancient document written by the Roman senator Dion Cassius recounts major events of 12 AD in which he noted: "Augustus, because he was growing old, wrote a letter commending Germanicus to the senate and the latter [the senate] to Tiberius" [ref. LVI.26]. No later than 13 AD, Tiberius Claudius Nero was already known to the whole of the Roman empire and its provinces as supreme military governor and co-regent with Augustus, since Tiberius was by that time Proconsular Imperium, wielding full tribunician power wholly co-extensive with that of Augustus, making Tiberius co-princeps with Augustus from 12-13 AD until Augustus' death. Thus we see, fully two years before Augustus had died, Tiberius' sole Consulship was already fully intact, and was wholly unassailable, with his *continuation*as Principate merely a foregone conclusion. Tiberius' inauguration as Imperator was little more than a formality, and Luke's reckoning for his 15th year is further confirmed by the fact that by 27 AD, a much-wearied Tiberius had retired permanently to seclusion on the island of Capri, leaving his notorious and traitorous captain of the Praetorian Guard, the prefect Sejanus, to rule in his place (but not in his stead, as the annals of history attest). End quote.-Min's Historical Calendar Of Jesus - Chapter 7 by Dr. Min

At the end of the 483 years (7 and 62 weeks) Jesus, as Messiah, the "Anointed One",

  • is baptized, and begins public ministry starting the 70th week of Daniel's prophecy.

(Please see Chart at the bottom of this page to see the exact years.)

Who are the people of the Prince that shall destroy the Temple?

    Dan 9: 26 continues:

and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof[shall be] with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

This is referring to a different prince, one that will come and destroy the city and temple because the Jews rejected Jesus as their Messiah. We know that this happened within a generation, by 70 AD at the hands of Titus and his army. The temple mount and Holy City was made totally desolate at that time.

The 70th week Dan 9 Verse 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,

    .

Is this "the antichrist" that makes a 7 year peace agreement? NO

He is the Messiah the prince.

Not Titus, the other prince in this prophecy, and not some future antichrist.

You need to ask yourself what Jesus did while He was on earth.

Did He confirm (a word that means to STRENGTHEN) His covenant? YES. During the 3 1/2 years of His ministry

During the time of Jesus on earth did He cause the Jewish sacrifices to cease? YES. Their relevance to God they are no longer accepted.

The word here in Hebrew was "shabath" the tense is (Hiphil)

    1) to cause to cease, put an end to2) to exterminate, destroy3) to cause to desist from4) to remove5) to cause to fail

He replaced them with His own blood. He became the LAST sacrifice needed for sin. Now some wouldargue that the Jewish sacrifices continued for the next 40 years until the Temple was destroyed, and so He didn't cause them to cease with His sacrifice. But in the spiritual realm, where it counts, He did.

  • God no longer recognized the blood sacrifices of the Jews from that day forth. He did truly cause the sacrifices in the Temple to fail. To loose their reason for being done.

Jesus took the place of not only the temple sacrifices but made the final sacrifice needed for all mankind. Heb 9:11 But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, [a] with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. 12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.

Jesus said that the temple would be torn down, not one stone left upon another, but that He would raise it up in 3 days. This, of course, means that at His resurrection Jesus would become the Temple of God. It didn't mater that the earthly Jewish temple of God remained standing for another 40 years. Just as it didn't mater that the sacrifices continued for that amount of time. Jesus had caused them to fail, becoming null and void in the eyes of God. Jesus had replaced them.

Remember it was Daniel's people, the Jews, that were given only 70 weeks, not the whole world. For Daniel's people, accepting Jesus would put an end to national sin, atone for wickedness, bring everlasting righteousness, seal up this prophecy, and anoint the most Holy. All they had to do was accept the Anointed One. All of these things would be accomplished through the Messiah for the nation.

For any Jewish person that accepts Jesus now, they are under His grace. He has put an end to believers sins through His blood. He has atoned for their wickedness before the throne. He has for them everlasting righteousness.

What would be the result of their rejection of Him?

They rejected Him and the covenant He offered. So a prince would come and make their Holy Place and Holy City desolate.

Daniel 9 Verse 27 continues;and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make [it] desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

The Hebrew word that is translated as "overspreading" is the Hebrew word meaning "Wing' sometimestranslated as the "pinnacle of the temple" It all starts with the word wing. Which is a reference to feathers, which the Hebrews are to cut the "corners" of their robes in fringes like that of a wing. So then the word took on the meaning of a "corner" Hence the corner of the of the walls of the temple compound became known as a wing of the temple. The corners were the pinnacles, or highest places. Probably because that is where the towers were located and because they were built to the edges of the

  • mountain and so were built over the valleys. The pinnacle of the temple was the highest wall of the temple compound.

    --------------------------------------

As a side note; The word pinnacle (pterygion-Greek) also means wing. The wing or pinnacle is the highest part of the temple compound looming over the valleys below.

    "pterygion"

    1. a wing, a little wing

    2. 2) any pointed extremity

    3. a) of fins of fishes

    4. b) of part of a dress hanging down in the form of a wing

    5. c) of the top of the temple at Jerusalem

Mat 4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle (or a wing) of the temple,

    ----------------------------------------

So what this verse in Daniel is saying is that at the pinnacle of abominations, one will come and make it desolate until a complete destruction. Which is a reference to the previous verse that speaks of the complete destruction of the Temple and the Holy city at the hand of the people of the prince who wouldcome. This took place in 70 AD.

See history of these abominations and the Abomination of Desolation standing where he ought not. Astold by Josephus, a Jewish historian alive during that time in history.

After His death and resurrection the nation of Israel did not repent, and because of this their abominations reached its pinnacle, their highest point. So the Lord allowed it to be made desolate (Temple and city) using the people of the "prince that was to come", Titus and the Roman army.

Is the last half of the 70th week still left to be completed at some time in our future?

The time limit put on Israel to believe was 70 weeks and they did not believe as a nation of people by the end of said 70 weeks. The offer was withdrawn at the end and given over to the gentile nations. Israel was blinded in part because they did not partake. After His death and resurrection they did not recognize His sacrifice.

They had been the "prepared" people. The "chosen people" chosen to be the light that God used to shine the knowledge of Him out into the nations. The people who had received direct revelation and understanding of God through His prophets. The prophets that spoke the promises of God to send a Messiah that would bring salvation. They were the "first". but because they rejected their salvation by not believing and partaking, then at the end of the 70 weeks the first became last and the last (gentiles) became first. In other words the gentiles would become the chosen ones to be the light of the gospel of

    http://palehorserising.com/josephusIII.html

  • His Son to shine out to all the world the truth of God.

And those that had been first "chosen" would now walk in blindness as a nation of people (a nation not defined by the land, but defined by the old covenant of which they still clung to). That does not mean that individual Jewish people can't begin to believe at any time.

The 70 week ending with the stoning of Stephen in 34 AD.

But the nation will get a second chance in the end days. They will now be last. Last to receive and partake in the New Covenant. But they will partake. That is the promise made by God and He will fulfill all His promises made with them, not for their sake but for His own. Messiah will return and they will see Him that they pierced. He will come in a way that they won't be able to deny Him any longer. Coming in view of the whole world descending out from heaven. They will deeply morn what they had denied. And they will believe and become partakers and for the nation of Israel they will have salvation... finally.

Not within the 70 weeks, for that time ended, as the calendar was flipped to the next day. Yesterday is past and cannot be revisited. But the promise to the nation of Israel that they would receive salvation is a forever promise and will be completed on another day far in the future from that time. Because the word "last" still holds a promise, in that the last will still get to participate.
