The Board of County Commissioners included the structure on Palm Beach County’s Register of Historic Places in 1997. The Cabana Club Porte Cochere Historic Site Boca Raton, Florida (November 17, 1997) The Camino Real and Camino Real Bridge Historic Site Boca Raton, Florida (November 17, 1997) The Camino Real Road and Bridge Historic District is located in Boca Raton. What makes the area and these resources so important is Boca Raton did not evolve like other cities of its age but rather was born of a grand conceptual plan. This grand plan was conceived by architect Addison Mizner. When Mizner’s company went bankrupt in 1927 construction was continued under Clarence Giest’s supervision. Unfortunately, Giest did not live to see the completion of the project. The Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works finally completed the Camino Real Bridge in 1939. The Board of County Commissioners created the historic district in 1997.

The Dubois Historic District Jupiter, Florida (In Progress) The DuBois Historic District is located within the boundaries of DuBois Park in Jupiter. Located within the district are excellent examples of early Palm Beach County architecture as well as significant Native American sites. The DuBois house is located on top of one of the Native American shell middens and was built over 100 years ago, making it one of the oldest extant houses in Palm Beach County. The house is remarkable because of its design and construction as well as its placement on a Native American habitation site that was occupied for thousands of years. The Board of County Commissioners designated the district in 2006.
