National Level The framework of the Palo Alto Cybersecurity Academy is based
upon the National Institute of Standards and Technologies mission:
“The mission of NICE is to energize and promote a robust
network and an ecosystem of cybersecurity education, training,
and workforce development.”
Academy curriculumThe Cybersecurity Academy offers a comprehensive set of modularized academic
and technical courses that match the cybersecurity education and training needs of
post-secondary educational institutions. Academy curriculum is aligned with the
U.S. National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) framework for
cybersecurity work roles. These courses prepare students for various work roles,
including:
• Network Operations Specialist
• Systems Security Analyst
• Cyber Defense Analyst

Fundamentals of Information Security
Course Description: An introduction to information security
including vocabulary and terminology, ethics, the legal
environment, and risk management. Identification of exposures
and vulnerabilities and appropriate countermeasures are
addressed. The importance of appropriate planning, policies and
controls is also discussed.
