complicated issues

  To develop and implement an effective, comprehensive, community-based mental health plan for overall youth well-being in Palo Alto.

  The plan includes education, prevention, and intervention strategies that together provide a Safety Net for youth and teens in Palo Alto, and defines our community’s teen suicide prevention efforts.

  Align PAUSD focus goals to Project Safety Net.

  Provide a senior level position in PAUSD to support the implementation of PSN strategies.

  Allocate funds up to $5000 from SERV grant for the construction of a website.

  Implement the 41 Developmental Assets and philosophy in the school district.

  Plan, coordinate, and communicate the administration of Project Cornerstone student survey.

  Communicate PAUSD and county results to the greater community.

  Begin training up to 90% of all secondary school district staff to be Gatekeepers using Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR).

  Maintain and communicate the comprehensive crisis protocol.

  Continue to fund up to $10,000 and enhance counseling opportunities through existing 3-6 Session Providers.

  PAUSD represented in 3 PSN sub-committees (Fundraising, QPR, and Developmental Assets).

  PAUSD will apply for the Extended SERV grant up to the amount of $250,000.

  Jordan, JLS, Paly staff to complete Gatekeeper Training (QPR) in 2011 (Gunn and Terman staff completed in October).

  Crisis Protocol Toolkit completed and will be included in the 2010-2011 updated PAUSD Crisis Response Manual.

  Continue to support the 3 session referrals for student mental health support.

  Coordinated the Project Cornerstone student survey for grades 5, 7, and 9-12 the first week of October.

  Outstanding site % of returned forms: *Elementary schools 93% *Middle schools 82% *High schools 73% *Average of all sites at grade levels

  District survey reports projected to be available in February 2011.

  Identify strategic opportunities through Project Cornerstone survey results.

  Report district results of the survey to the board, sites, parents, and greater community.

  Share site survey results with individual sites to inform opportunities to build assets in our students.

  Continue reference to various student surveys (PARCS, CHKS, Project Cornerstone) to measure the efforts around district focus goal of student connectedness.
