Opportunities to Help Others Bio’s Brian Whitehead- In 1994 Brian Whitehead earned his B. A. degree in Education, with emphasis on Social Studies, at Mississippi State University. Upon graduation he served as assistant track and field coach at Louisiana Tech University and then in 1997 at Mississippi State University. In the fall of 1999, Brian left the college ranks for the high school level, where he taught Social Studies and Teen Leadership and coached track and field. Brian’s mission was to grow leadership skills in kids so that when they left the high school setting, they would be prepared to go out and start successful careers. As Leadership Consultant for The Flippen Group, Brian’s responsibilities include training teachers and administrators, leadership consulting, and motivational speaking. He also consults with and serves school districts in the Mississippi/Tennessee/Alabama region. Brian and his wife, the former Nanette Huggins of Corinth, MS, are the proud parents of Mary Margaret and Natalie Beth, and live in Seymour, Tennessee. Wendy Tuck is the executive director of the Mid Ohio Valley Volunteer Action Center in Parkersburg. She has previous experience as the director of a domestic violence center, an alternative school teacher, early childhood home visitor. She has extensive training and presentation experience in the areas of nonprofit organization management and volunteerism. She is actively engaged in community development and outreach, and in faith based organizations. The Third Presentation will be on community engagement in Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention. Information and activities for this session will be from the state and national Prevent Child Abuse material. Facilitation will be by a state level or local level Partners in Prevention program-affiliated staff member.
