Savings stories mount with CFCU’s $100 million mission

Refinancing boosts children’s college fund and retirement savings for couple and gives another family needed peace of mind.

We’re excited to announce that Menasha Employees Credit Union has merged with Community First.

As of Nov. 30, nearly 1,500 members of the Menasha Employees Credit Union will join Community First. The MECU board of directors selected CFCU as its merger partner and all three employees – Carol Boyle, Sharyl Borucki and Carrie Waters – are now part of the CFCU team.

“We are honored that we were selected and look forward to welcoming the MECU members to the Community First family,” said President/CEO Cathie Tierney.

MECU has a long and proud history of service to its members/owners. It was founded on March 17, 1953, to provide financial services to employees and family members of the City of Menasha, Menasha School District and Menasha Electric and Water Utilities.

We look forward to helping you with all your financial needs!

Airline flight attendant Becky McDicken knows the importance of customer service. She and her husband, Andy still marvel at the reception they received at Community First this spring when they decided to explore refinancing options after being stalled by a slow response from the bank holding the mortgage on their Greenville home. “I have to compliment Community First on their service,” Becky said. “They were very prompt and efficient. We’re going to save a ton of money.”

On the verge of $100 millionAs we close in on our three-year $100 million savings mission, Becky and Andy were excited to join in on our savings mission. By refinancing a 5.625% bank mortgage to our 15-year, 2.75%mortgage, they will save nearly $99,000 in interest and cut seven years of payments. Becky said the overall impact was “amazing” for what it means for their household budget, college savings for their 12 and 14 year old children and eventual retirement. “On a whim we just went into Community First, sat down and had a chat,” Andy said. “We were just exploring and within 15 minutes we were pre-approved and we started down the road of making it real.”

Let us help during the difficult timesFor Sue Clay of Menasha, the savings with her refinancing helped her keep her home. After her husband died in 2005, Sue struggled to keep up with mortgage payments on the home they had hand-picked nearly 10 years earlier. Her financial struggle with reduced household income became more difficult since 2010 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to endure weeks of radiation plus follow-up surgeries due to complications. When other financial institutions turned her away, CFCU did not and saved her $400 a month. “Community First found a way to help me afford my mortgage and not lose my house,” Sue said. “My daughter and grandson live with me so I really didn’t want to go to some place else. Community First gets it – that a home is way more than just a house – it’s a part of you.” As we head down the final stretch toward saving our members $100 million in interest from 2011-2013, come and see what we can do for you! Don’t wait any longer to lock in your savings at Community First!!

Mission accomplished – but not over! We set out to save members $30 million ininterest this year and together with you, we’vesurpassed it! But, reaching this amazing goal, doesn’t mean we’re done, it only encourages us tokeep looking for more ways to save members moneyand help them take control of their finances!

Why? Because of the difference it makes! Each andevery month, members now have more money in theirpockets. That’s money they can use for homeimprovements, a vacation, rainy day savings, to buildtheir retirement funds and more.

It’s good for them, and it’s good for our communitiesbecause paying less for their loans means membershave more money to spend right here in our localcommunities, boosting our local economy.

Playing even a small part in these savings is awonderful feeling and it makes us happy for each andevery member! Helping members find savings is a perfect example of people helping people – andthat’s what being part of a financial cooperative is all about!

Now it’s your turn.Give us a chance to look at your car loans, homeloans and credit cards with other financials – tosee what savings we can help you find.

• If we can’t do better, we’ll tell you.

• If we can help you save on interest, pay offyour loans faster, reduce the number ofpayments to keep you on track of each month– you’ll be glad you took the time.

Members have savedover $30 Million ininterest in 2012!

I saved over$8,000 and

knocked twoyears off mymortgage!”

FOX CITIES MARATHON

SEARCH foxcitiesmarathon.org

Neenah has a new “River walk”, which is actually a short stroll. It is downtown also and is on the water. There are plans to extend so it will fit its name. It is in the same courtyard as the library, which has some nice resources. The park has a flat water fountain (one where the water comes out at ground level) that is intended to be played upon and on hot days children and adults get a little (or alot) wet to cool down.

Neenah’s FactsNeenah History Neenah was named after the Winnebago word meaning “water” or “running water.” The city is included in the Appleton-Oshkosh-Neenah metropolitan area. Neenah is a city in Winnebago County, Wisconsin, United States. It is situated on the banks of Lake Winnebago, Little Lake Butte des Morts, and the Fox River. The city is bordered by the Town of Neenah. The city of Neenah is the southwestern-most of the Fox Cities of northeast Wisconsin.
