B. SULPHUR OXIDES (SOx) (After every bunkering operation)

(To be made in Oil record Book I - for all ships including tankers)

2. Position of vessel, type of fuel, A.P.I.*, density at 15°C (Kg/cm3), sulphur content

* API: American Petroleum Institute: You should get it from FO analysis data.

If not, you should get it

1) by Petroleum measurement tables or

2) by calculation.

Specific gravity = Density / 0.99997

API degree = (141.5/Specific gravity) - 131.5

Example:

Density 980kg/m3=0.980g/cm

3

Specific gravity = 0.980/0.99997 = 0.980 (approx.)

API degree = (141.5/0.98) - 131.5 = 12.89

Entries to be made after every bunkering operation

(If bunkering more than one grade of fuel, a separate entry should be made for each)

Date Code Item

no. Record of operations / signature of officer in charge

dd-MONTH-yyyy Part III-B 2 (Position: xx deg xx min N/S, xx deg xx min E/W) / (Type of oil) /

A.P.I. x.x / Density @ 15oC = x.x kg/m

Sign / Name / Rank / dd-MONTH-yyyy C/E sign

Note: All bunker data to be recorded as given in the Bunker Delivery Note (BDN).

3. While ships are within SOx emission control areas, specify which arrangement or

procedures are provided and operational:

1. That sulphur content of fuel does not exceed 1.0% m/m.

2. That an exhaust gas cleaning system is applied to keep vessel’s total emission to 6.0

SOx/kWh or less.

4. Confirmation that where tanks are fitted for low and normal sulphur content fuel oil, that

fuel oil switching arrangement or procedures are provided and operational.

5. The volume of low sulphur fuel oils in each tank as well as the date, time, and position of

the ship when any fuel oil changeover operation is completed prior to the entry into an Emission

Control Area or commenced after exit from such an area.

Entries to be made when fuel oil changeover is completed

prior to the entry into an Emission Control Area (ECA)
