Welcome to Panda Cloud Email Protection Below are the steps to follow to activate the Panda Cloud Email Protection in-depth mail
filtering service.
1. - Factors to consider
1.- Your Panda Cloud Email Protection account must have been activated and you must
have your login credentials (login and password).
Note: Remember that your Panda Cloud Email Protection account will take 24 hours to
activate from the moment you receive your login credentials.
2.- Your MX records must have been redirected to the Panda Cloud Email Protection
infrastructure.
(If they still haven’t been redirected, click here)
3.- If you have a corporate firewall, it must be configured to accept inbound traffic
from Panda Cloud Email Protection.
(Check the recommended settings here)
Once you have checked that your MX records are correctly redirected and that you can receive
mail from Panda Cloud Email Protection, you can register your domain(s) in the Service
Administrator console.
2. - Domain registration
The first step to protect mail traffic is to add the domain(s) to protect. To do so, follow the
steps below:
1- Go to the Panda Cloud Email Protection Administrator console.
https://mep.pandasecurity.com
Enter your login credentials in the administrator access area and click “Log In”
By default, you will be taken to the Domains section to enter the domain(s) to be protected.
Click Add Domain
A template will be displayed for you to enter the data of the domain to be protected.
1. Enter the name of the domain to be protected in the *Name field
Example: sunlightclinics.com
2. - Specify the SMTP servers associated to the domain in the *Host MX field. It is important
that the SMTP servers are correct, as it could cause problems on receiving mail.
3. - In the Priority field, you must assign priorities to each MX Host. The minimum is 1.
4. - Click ADD
Once accepted, the MX host specified is established with the priority indicated, as the
domain’s SMTP host.
You must then fill in the following data:
Contact Email: this email address is the one associated to the domain and the one the
periodic service activity reports of Panda Cloud Email Protection will be sent to.
Asigned Licences: this field is for information purposes. Here you can indicate the
licenses you will assign to each domain. It makes license management easier if more
than one domain is managed from the Service Administrator console.
Language: The default domain language is defined (consoles)
Panda Cloud Email Protection lets you generate domain administrators for each domain
created. Domain administrators have their own administration console (limited to their
assigned domain), which allows them to manage mail security, user notifications, language,
users, filtering rules, etc.
Domain administrators are useful for delegating the security management of a specific domain
to a third-party.
To generate a domain administrator, click: I want this domain to have an administration
console.
Fill out the data regarding the new Domain administrator, and click SAVE
Important: the domain administrator’s credentials are not sent automatically. Consequently,
they must be provided to the new domain administrator.
Once the data is saved, you will be redirected to the initial screen where the domain
registration is confirmed and displayed in the list of protected domains.
To add more domains, repeat the procedure as many times as domains you want to protect
with Panda Cloud Email Protection.
3. - Domain administrator
Once the domain and domain administrator have been created, the latter can access the
Administrator console from http://mep.pandasecurity.com as the administrator.
The Domain Administrator panel includes the same management functionalities as the Service
Administrator panel, but limited to the associated domain. Consequently, users can be
registered, blacklists and white lists can be configured, filtering rules can be defined, etc...
4. - User registration
Users can be registered in Panda Cloud Email Protection from the Domain Administrator panel
or the Service Administrator panel. We will use the Service Administrator panel in the
example. However the process is the same in both panels and for both administrators.
Panda Cloud Email Protection has 3 ways of registering users:
Manually
SMTP
LDAP
This document describes the steps to MANUALLY register users (selected by default). For other
automatic registrations, refer to the Administrator's Guide here
Go to the USERS section in the Service Administrator console and select the domain in which
you want to generate the users from the drop-down menu.
Note* we recommend you ignore the import users option for the time being. We will explain how to do it later on.
Once the domain is validated, the following screen will be displayed:
There are two options in the Manual user registration:
Generate users through imports (txt or csv)
Generate users manually
4.1. - Generate users manually
To generate users manually, click Create User and enter the required data
Then click Save.
Panda Cloud Email Protection will confirm the operation has been correctly carried out and will
allow you to continue generating users manually.
Repeat this procedure as many times as necessary to generate all the domain users.
Important: Panda Cloud Email Protection will send an email to the user created with the
credentials to access the User panel.
If you don’t want an email to be sent to the users with the login credentials, or you want to
modify the welcome email template, configure this option in the Service Administrator
console, in:
SETTINGS/AUTOMATIC MESSAGES/Welcome Message
For further information, refer to the Service Administrator’s Guide here
4.2. - Generate users through imports
Go to the USERS section in the Service Administrator console, where you will see the
instructions to import users from a file.
Create a CSV or TXT file with the following structure/information:
First name, last name, email address.
Create a TXT with the required information (if the password is not indicated, it will be
automatically generated and sent together with the welcome email).
Once the file is ready, define the file path and select import.
IMPORTANT: the process could take several minutes. Do not refresh the window or click any
options in the console, or the process will not be completed correctly.
Once the users are imported, the system will confirm the registration by displaying the
following message:
You can now view all the users generated in the USERS section, by selecting the domain from
the drop-down menu.
5. - Alias registration Panda Cloud Email Protection lets you add unlimited domain aliases and up to 5 free user
aliases.
For the user aliases not to be counted as a Panda Managed Email Protection license, they must
be associated to an existing service user account (5 aliases maximum).
Below are the instructions to add domain and user aliases from the Panda Cloud Email
Protection Administrator console:
5.1. Domain alias
Access the Panda Managed Email Protection console http://mep.pandasecurity.com
DOMIAINS – NEW DOMAIN
Indicate the DOMAIN you want to add a domain alias to from the drop-down menu. Enter the
domain alias data (see Administrator’s Guide) and select:
Click SAVE and the domain will be registered as a domain alias in Panda Managed Email
Protection.
5.2 User alias
Access the Panda Managed Email Protection console (http://mep.pandasecurity.com) USERS
Select the domain where you wish to add the user alias from the drop-down menu.
Click Create user alias
Select the domain of the Panda Managed Email Protection user account to which the user alias
will be added, from the Domain drop-down menu.
Select the mail account where you want to add the user alias.
Finally, enter the user alias you want to add to the selected mail account.
Click SAVE
The system will confirm the operation has been correctly carried out. To check the aliases
created, go to USERS, and select the domain with the user account to which the alias has been
added.
The alias is associated to the user account.
IMPORTANT: Panda Cloud Email Protection allows you to add up to 5 free user aliases. Aliases
that are not correctly associated (domain or mail aliases) count as Panda Cloud Email
Protection licenses:
