Pant! The dating app for dogsin a modern era
by Matt Mansolino
The Problem
46% of people bring their dog to a walking trail on their first date
It is only natural for us, as humans, to want to find our soul mates. Why not the same for dogs?
The only time dogs interact with other dogs is when they are at a dog park, being walked, or their owner brings them to a house with another dog. Once they are done, the dogs go their seperate ways.
- Online Survey on Match.com
The Solution
Pant is an app where your dog can find a connection. It lets them meet on neutral terms and have casual chats with their matches. No more sniffing every dog they meet to only dislike them in the end. They will only be able to chat if there is a mutual connection.
Why
Pant?
“A factor to consider is whether or not the dogs have been spayed or neutered; if not, the meeting may be more difficult.”
“First, plan to have the dogs meet on neutral ground.”
“If one dog makes a play bow, that’s an EXCELLENT sign.”
“Choose a place where neither dog is likely to feel territorial.”

Research - User Interviews
Key Insight:Features of current dating apps create feelings of distrust, anxiety, and stress.
Insight: Dogs show their affection mainly by licking and sniffing.
Insight: Favorite activities including: going for walks, eating together, and playing with each other.
Key Insight:Don’t let the dogs meet and sniff each other at first. The reason being as two dogs approach each other the emotional intensity runs VERY high.

VALUE:
Uses your dog as an ice breaker not a dating app for dogs
Had to sign up before you could view any profiles
Does not have every breed (Spaniel/Jack Russell cross was an invalid entry)
LIMITATIONS:
App feels familiar - swipe left/right style made famous by Tinder
click an information icon to bring up the dog’s profile (their name, age, how far away they are, when they were last active, and an “About me” section)
Finding friends for your dog and meeting fellow owners are two different options advertised

Hates dating apps where you message other dogs only to never hear back from them
Likes to see active users only
Likes how apps let you swipe if you are or are not interested
