HOUSEAn Experiment in formal and figural design techniques exploring the implications of the house.
With the primitive house shape as a constant, scale operates as a variable defining various conditions.
Through careful articulation and control of the scale, literal and phenomenal effects are achieved including transparency, legibility, and spatial hierarchy.

PARALLAXExploration through iterative physical model building informs complex spatial relationships.
Comprising of a single folded ribbon Parallax achieves form and functionality through a series of simple moves.

MOVESThe entirety of the project is produced by four moves that form the path, wall, and level change conditions.
The 6km of path that make up the 165,000sqft of the project become manageable as the path parallels itself allowing for moments of short cut and expanded floor space.

INTERIOR CITY
An investigation into interior shape, space, and form.
Early interior studies look at the performative nature of the interior section through a series of 400 drawings. Notable interiors in architectural history were turned, scaled and reappropriated to gain a new (mis)understanding of their form.
(Re)Programming
Given 1,000,000sqft of program, consisting of Cultural, Academic, and Housing, specific shapes were appropriated accordingly to configure and imagine the beginning of a building form.

INTERIOR VIEWINGAPPARATUS
As two dimensional, and historical based studies were exhausted, the IVA was conceived as a means of engaging with pure interior spaces.
Experienced through a series of wide angle peep-holes, the interior of the IVA is filled with fantastic interlocking spaces. The IVA played an important roll in the understanding of perception of space and adjacencies.
Fantastic Interiors
As the formal aspects of the project were calibrated, the building was divided into the Fantastic and the Normative. Specialized events would happen in the Fantastic spaces and the more banal activities a Normative Typical Plan.
How these two worlds relate and interact with each other introduces a third spatial type, that produces moments of unexpected delight.

A GO GO
An initial investigation into the potentials of Architectural representation, A GO GO explores the conflation of plan, section, and elevation. A building without direction and all direction, its floating cubic shape enforces its autonomy. Programmatically a series of Urban Mansions and Couch Houses, A GO GO blurs and blends concepts of Aggregation, ownership and community.

Section/Plan Drawing
An Architectural drawing of a non-Architecture. Plan, section, elevation, pattern, scale, and orientation, come together to realize new relationships and understandings.
62
63
PLAN
The final plan, section, and elevation of A GO GO are all derived from the same base drawing. Pattern and line work together to create space that is at once ambiguous as well as specific.
