To analyze the results of the initial experience of the treatment of patients with spinal cord injury associatedwith neurogenic detrusor overactivity in Latin America.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
We completed a descriptive study of the results obtained from 98 patients diagnosed with spinal cord injuryassociated with neurogenic detrusor overactivity who were implanted with SARS combined with posteriorrhizotomy since 2009.

CONCLUSION
Six patients showed surgical wound infection which was cured with standar antibiotic treatment and the device (receiver block) was also replaced, all procedure wascompleted without any complications. Due to incontinence in six patients it was necessary to place an adjustable suburethral mesh, and in one case itwas neccesary to apply a botulinum toxin shot in the sphincter.
The results of our experience in Latin America presents excellent clinical results in patients with spinal cord injury
associated with neurogenic detrusor overactivity allowing them to have a proper bladder emptying as well as control of thebowel and erectile functions with a low rate of complications. These findings make this procedure a good alternativefor those patients who are selected appropriately and those in which previous standard treatments have failed.
