The Hart County Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for the parade, and we look forward to your participation in this year's parade. Please complete the following application and communicate all parade requirements and information to your organization and volunteers that will be participating in the parade. PARADE GUIDELINES & REGULATIONS1. Parade Formation and Line Up: The Parade begins in the old Bell's Shopping Center parking lot (at the intersection ofAthens Street and E. Howell St. and ends at Hart County High School Parking lot on Campbell Dr. Parade check in andline up BEGINS AT 3:00 pm. Please do not come before 3:00 pm unless you are a Drop-Off Zone Volunteer. TrafficIN and OUT of the parking lot will be ONE WAY ONLY. Please familiarize yourself with the traffic flow map attached in thispacket. 2. Parking & Participant Check-In: Parking is VERY LIMITED at the parade line up zone. Large Groups are stronglyencouraged to have a carpool driver and/or shuttle and use the participant drop off lane. Float and participant check-inbegins at 3:00 pm. 3. Large Groups & Youth/Student Groups: Each youth/student group shall be represented by an adult supervisor whowill be responsible for his/her group following all parade rules. Large groups (i.e. more than 10 people) will need to at least2 adult volunteers/supervisors in place at the “Participant Drop-Off Zone” to receive children and other participants andescort them to safely to the lineup area. Parents or Drivers WILL NOT be allowed to park and escort children orparticipants to the parade line up as this impedes traffic flow and presents safety issues. 3. Multiple Cars: If you have multiple cars that need to be grouped together in the parade line you MUST ARRIVE TOPARADE CHECK-IN TOGETHER. Please coordinate with your party and meet off site so that you can arrive together atthe same time. NO EXCEPTIONS. 4. Thrown Items/Hand outs: For the safety of the children, no items may be thrown from any vehicle other than candy.Candy CANNOT BE THROWN BY DRIVERS. This will be strictly enforced. Candy must be tossed, not thrownaggressively or in a targeting fashion. Candy must make it all the way to the curb for the safety of children around movingvehicles. 5. Santas: No Santas are allowed as part of your float entry. Santa will be riding on the Chamber of Commerce floatat the end of the parade. 6. Entry Fees: Entry fees are not refundable unless the Hart County Chamber of Commerce cancels the parade forweather related conditions. Once an entry has been accepted into the parade lineup, entry fees cannot be refunded. If forany reason, an entry is not accepted into the parade, fees will be returned. Unless the Hart County Chamber of Commercecancels the parade, all units will be expected to perform and no entry fees will be refunded. 7. End of Parade: The Parade route ends on E. Franklin Street at Campbell Drive. Parade participants may unloadpassengers at HCHS parking lot and are not allowed to have passengers on the float past the HCHS parking lot. 8. Licensed and Insured Drivers: Drivers of cars/trucks in the parade must be 18 years of age or older and must have avalid driver’s license and insurance which the registrant and responsible party/contact person will be responsible forchecking. 9. Alcohol: No consumption of alcohol or any controlled substance in any parade area including but not limited to pre-parade and post-parade areas and during the parade. 10. Safety: All entries must be able to maintain their speed and position throughout the parade and there will be nostopping allowed. All riders must keep hands and feet inside the trailer/float/vehicle at all times. Parade participants are notallowed to stop and leave their vehicles/floats for any reason once the parade begins. Participants are responsible formaking sure that all equipment is in proper working condition and safe for use. It is not recommended to usetrailers with open wheel wells.

PARADE GUIDELINES & REGULATIONS11. Animals: Animals must be kept under control at all times. Equestrian, canine and any other groups including animalsas part of their entry are responsible for the prevention and/or removal of animal waste along the parade route, and instaging and disbanding areas. All animals must be up to date on vaccinations, and all equestrian participants must wearwaste disposal bagging. 12. Improper Participation: Participants are only allowed to play Christmas music, and are not allowed to play any musicwith vulgar or obscene language. Please do not use vulgar or offensive language. No offensive or vulgar clothing may beworn. No “For Sale” signs may be displayed on parade entries. All participants must conduct themselves in a safe andcourteous manner during the parade. No wheelies, burnout, or revving engines for all vehicle participants. No fireworks areallowed. 13. Clean Up: For your convenience, trash cans will be available in the parking lot where line ups begin. It is theregistrants’ responsibility to ensure all litter and debris is cleaned up from registrant's line up area and group. 14. Waivers: The Responsible Party for the float must sign a release and waiver of liability form and is responsible forcollecting and keeping a release and waiver of liability form for each float participant from their party. These waivers do notneed to be turned into the Chamber, with the exception of the Responsible Party’s release and waiver of liability form.However, the Chamber DOES need a list of all participants who have signed waivers.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE TERMS/RULES MAY CAUSE DISMISSAL FROM THE PROPERTY AND EXCLUSION FROM PARTICIPATION IN FUTURE EVENTS.

I, my minor child, and/or a minor child under my legal guardianship (individually and collectively referred to as“Participants”), intend to participate in the 2019 Christmas Parade ("the Parade") which is being hosted by Hart CountyChamber of Commerce ("The Chamber”) Sunday, December 8. In consideration for participation in the Parade, theParticipants agree to the following: Assumption of Risk:Participants assume all responsibility for Participants’ own safety while participating in this event. Participantsunderstand that this event may involve participation in exercises which are physically demanding and could subjectParticipants to stress, anxiety, and possible hazards, not all of which can be foreseen. Participants further understandthat participation in this event is completely voluntary, and Participants assume the risk of any and all injuries that mayoccur to Participants or their property as a result of participation in the Program, INCLUDING INJURIES THAT MAYRESULT FROM THE CHAMBER’S OWN NEGLIGENCE. Liability and Security: Hart County Chamber of Commerce, its board of directors, the City of Hartwell, Hart County and its staff will not beresponsible for losses of any kind, whether by fire, theft, physical violence, elements of nature or any other causeswhatever their origination. Hart County Chamber of Commerce will provide minimal security during the event; howeverparade participants will be responsible for their own equipment, its protection and its insurance. Indemnification: I have read the Hart County Chamber of Commerce parade policies, procedures, rules, regulations and requirementsfor application to participate in the Hartwell Christmas Parade and agree to abide by such. I, and Participants, agree toand hereby assume any and all risks of personal injuries to myself including death and damages to my property causedby or arising from participation in this event. I agree to defend, indemnify and hold the Hart County Chamber ofCommerce and its employees, volunteers, officers, agents, and affiliates harmless from and against any claim, demand,suit, loss, causes of action, damages, liabilities, obligations, costs, expenses and judgments (including without limitation,death and damages to property), caused by my acts or omissions or failure to abide by the rules and conditionscontained therein. Hart County Chamber of Commerce, as official promoters and organizers of the event, retains thesole propriety over all aspects of the event, which includes posters, other memorabilia, parade unit selections, andreserves the right to final interpretation of all rules. Medical Treatment:Participants consent to receive emergency medical treatment in the event of illness or injury and release and foreverdischarge the Indemnities from any liability or claim whatsoever which arises or may later arise on account of anymedical services rendered in connection with an emergency during Participants’ participation in the Program. Photo and Publicity Release: Participants grant to the Chamber all right, title, and interest in any and all photographs, images, video, or audiorecordings of Participants or Participants’ likeness or voice made by the Chamber in connection with the Program.Participants understand and agree that they will not receive compensation for any use of such material.
