Parent Compass Guide

Login: Go to this address http://brunswick.vic.jdlf.com.au/login.aspx and use your username and password to login to the compass portal. Please contact the front office if you do not have these details. The parent pass word is different from the student password and must be kept private. You will then be presented with the following page Note: If you have never logged in before it will ask you to confirm that your contact details are correct then also change your password

View your students work practices and reports

Approving Absences

If your child has unapproved absences you will have an attendance alert like the one circled above.

You will then be shown this page. Approve absences by ticking the boxes next to the absences you wish to approve and clicking the “parent approve” button circled above.

This will then bring up the pop up box below and you will be able to select a reason for your child’s absence or lateness. Then click “save”

Policy for early leavers If your child is required to leave early from school they must come with a note signed from home that must then be shown to their year level coordinator. They will then sign the not giving them permission to leave the school through the front office.

Providing Consent and Payment For Excursions If your child has an excursion that has consent or payment outstanding you will have an event alert such as the one shown below.

You will then be shown a page listing the events requiring your consent and payment. We recommend that you proceed by using the “process now” button circled below, as it is the most efficient way to give consent.

You will then be shown an online consent form where you can fill in your child’s medical details and pay for the excursion with your credit card.

Viewing Work Practices and Reports To save paper all school reports are now uploaded to compass. When a new report is uploaded you will see an alert such as the one shown below.

You will then be able to select any report you wish to view and also be able to view work practices as shown below.

Viewing the News Feed The news feed is the schools most efficient way to communicate with parents. All news items that are relevant to you appear under the my news heading circled below

Booking Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences

On the front page through the “Actions” icon next to your child’s name you will be able to bring up the box circled above and click on the “Book Parent Teacher Interviews” link. You will then be shown the page below. If you click the link to the relevant event, such as the one circled below, you will be taken to your booking sheet as shown on the next page.

By clicking on any of the times on your booking sheet a drop box will appear showing the teachers available at that time. By clicking a teachers name and then “update” you will have booked to see that teacher. This is shown below. Note: Remember to leave a gap between interviews to allow for travel between the interviews.

Student Profile This is another way to access items that may have left the “my alerts” section. E.g You are only alerted to reports being available for a small time after they are uploaded, however, you can continue to access them through the student profile.

By clicking on the student profile link circled above you will be taken to the page shown below. This page allows you to use the tabs circled along the top to view your students schedule, view your child’s timetable, purchase school photos, view attendance and download reports.
