PDAC Book Study Outliers:

The Story of SuccessBy Malcolm Gladwell

Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world

of "outliers"--the best and the brightest, the most famous and

the most successful. He asks the question: what makes high-

achievers different?

His answer is that we pay too much attention to what

successful people are like, and too little attention to where they

are from: that is, their culture, their family, their generation, and

the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing.

PDAC MOVIE “SCREENAGERS”

"Sit your kids down and watch this movie. Sit on them if you have

to. It's a MUST SEE for anyone with kids in their lives!"

Martha Adams, Chief Creative Officer for Girls Rising

"I have been very concerned about this issue and as I'm a

geneticist I'm very interested in the science behind it. The film is

REMARKABLE: thoughtful, provocative and beautifully filmed and

edited." — Beth T., Geneticist at UCSF Children’s Hospital

Mental Health

Children’s mental health is as critical as their

physical health in achieving overall wellbeing.

Healthy social and emotional development is

a necessary underpinning for learning, school

success, relationship development and

positive interactions with their environment.

Children’s mental health is built on a foundation

that depends on their family, community, and

child-serving system’s ability to support

them.
