We began the school year embracing the Common Core State Standards in all grades. Pre-K through 8th grade instruction is Common Core with Mississippi Curriculum objectives embedded. The High School instruction focuses on literacy for Common Core with reading and writing embedded with the Subject Area Testing Program. If you want more information about Common Core and the assessments, visit www.corestandards.org and www.parcconline.org . The focus for all students is still reading and writing across the curriculum. Teachers are focusing on the Six Traits of Writing, and some students are using the “Write to Learn” software program to analyze their writing skills.
