Hillsdale’s mission today, as when it was founded in 1844, is to provide “sound learning” of the kind necessary to perpetuate “the blessings of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety.” For a long time, the College has extended this educational mission beyond the boundaries of its campus through various outreach efforts—most notably by publishing Imprimis, which now reaches over 2.8 million readers monthly. It continues to expand its outreach efforts both by instituting new programs and by widening the scope and influence of existing programs.

• Among the most recent and exciting of Hillsdale’s new programs are its online courses. Begun in 2011 with the short “Introduction to the Constitution” course, Hillsdale’s online learning program has expanded to include such courses as “Constitution 101: The Meaning and History of the Constitution,” “Constitution 201: The Progressive Rejection of the Founding and the Rise of Bureaucratic Despotism,” “Economics 101: The Principles of Free Market Economics,” “Western Heritage: From the Book of Genesis to John Locke,” “American Heritage: From Colonial Settlement to the Reagan Revolution,” and “Great Books 101: Ancient to Medieval.” New courses this fall include “The Presidency and the Constitution” and “Great Books 102: Renaissance to Modern.” Additional courses will be offered each semester, and all courses are free of charge.

• The Barney Charter School Initiative advances the establishment of classical charter schools by working with parent and citizen groups to secure charters and implement academic programs. Members of the Hillsdale faculty and staff work closely with the groups and school personnel, offering teacher training sessions, helping search for school principals, and making resources available on classical education. Each June, the Charter School Initiative also offers a three-day seminar on campus for school founders and administrators on issues related to classical education. Eight charter schools established through this initiative are currently in operation in Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas, with two more schools scheduled to open in 2015. The College aims to have 50 such schools operating by 2022.

• The annual Free Market Forum, sponsored by Hillsdale’s Center for the Study of Monetary Systems and Free Enterprise, pays all expenses for 150 professors from colleges and universities around the country to attend and learn about free-market economics. Additionally, the College makes available to all participants DVDs or downloadable PDFs of all presentations at the Forum, allowing them to share what they have learned with students and other faculty at their institutions. Recent locations have included Atlanta, Houston, and San Diego. This October, the program will be held in Indianapolis.

• For those looking for on-the-go learning, the College has created the Constitution Minute, a series of brief radio messages designed to improve listeners’ understanding of the U.S. Constitution. Each Minute, available in an online archive, addresses a key constitutional issue.

• The Center for Constructive Alternatives and National Leadership Seminar series continue to draw nearly 2,000 guests each year. In 2014-2015, the College will offer CCA seminars on World War I, Energy Policy, American Journalism, and Silent Films. Among the speakers confirmed are historians Max Hastings and Victor Davis Hanson, film director Peter Bogdanovich, and journalists Sharyl Attkisson, Richard Brookhiser, Hugh Hewitt, and Bret Stephens. National Leadership Seminars will be held next year in Naples, Florida, and Denver, Colorado, and will feature speakers including Larry Kudlow and Charles Krauthammer.

• The Hillsdale Hostel program offers adult learners a chance to “return to college the Hillsdale way.” The College offers Hostel programs on campus, at its Rockwell Lake Lodge in northern Michigan, and at the Kirby Center in Washington, D.C. The Freedom Forum program, held during college breaks in January and March, offers two-day Hostel-like seminars in select cities nationwide.

• The Kirby Center hosts the AWC Family Foundation Lecture Series during the school year and the Fusco Summer Lecture Series each summer. Both feature noted scholars, authors, or journalists on timely issues and are open to the public. The James Madison Fellows program, sponsored in conjunction with The Heritage Foundation, educates senior-level congressional staff about the application of constitutional principles to public policy.

Hillsdale’s Hometown LecturesBegun in 2011, the Hometown Lecture Series introduces Hillsdale professors to our new and longtime friends in cities other than those in which our National Leadership Seminars or College receptions take place. Current parents and grandparents are also invited to the lectures held in their areas. Each hometown event begins with a complimentary luncheon, followed by a lecture on a timely topic delivered by a Hillsdale professor. Lecturers have included Professor of History Burton Folsom, Professor of Economics Gary Wolfram, and Professor of Politics Ronald J. Pestritto. Since January of my sophomore year at the College, I have been employed by the External Affairs Office, where I have gained experience working at six Center for Constructive

Alternatives (CCA) seminars as a student assistant. I have sat in on many lectures waiting to assist with microphones during the Q & A session that normally follows the lectures. During those lectures, I have learned much on the subjects of the Federal Income Tax, World War II, American Foreign Policy, the Renaissance, the Dodd-Frank Act, and Romantic Comedies. I enrolled in two of those seminars for academic credit. During the program on the federal income tax, I learned more about the subject than I thought there was to learn. This past spring I had the pleasure of meeting singer and actress Mitzi Gaynor when she visited Hillsdale College to speak about her starring role in South Pacific at the seminar on romantic comedies. The College is uniquely fortunate to be able to bring in guest speakers to discuss such topics. As my college years seem to have flown by and I am now a senior, I have grown to appreciate the CCAs and all they have to offer: Interesting topics and outstanding speakers who devote their time to discuss what they know with Hillsdale students. Not only are the lectures interesting and informative—thanks to the differing views guest speakers often have—but the ensuing conversations that are sparked with other guests, students, faculty, and staff about the lectures are also exceptionally engaging. To attend the CCAs and meet such high profile individuals is a privilege for which I am most thankful.

Students at Hillsdale College further extend their liberal arts education by attending CCA seminars throughout their academic career. In a matter of four days, I can

explore subjects I haven’t had the time to pursue along with my other studies. As a freshman, I entered college understanding next to nothing about economics. A friend of mine suggested that I attend the seminar on Adam Smith, a Scottish political and economic philosopher. Academically, it was the smartest move I made my freshman year. After an accelerated track on laissez-faire capitalism, I had the upper hand in my homework readings for the core history classes. Even in my applications to internship programs, I referred back to my seminar notes to discuss the role of free markets in the American economy. Although I decided to pursue a degree in English, the various CCA seminars I attended sparked an interest in topics from economics to the role of judicial review to journalism. Taking these seminars has contributed to the depth of my liberal arts education and strengthened my mental elasticity, not only in my studies but also in my day-to-day life.

Hillsdale Dialogues The Best Hour of Radio Jay ZawatskyFather of J.P., ’16, and Nick, ’17

Bethesda, Maryland to Hillsdale, Michigan. We travel eight hours by car to visit our sons at college. Boring? Monotonous? Not by a long shot, when you have the

Hillsdale Dialogues to keep you company. What are the Hillsdale Dialogues? They are one-hour radio programs featuring talk show host and law professor Hugh Hewitt and Hillsdale President Larry Arnn. Yes, a commercial radio program with a nationwide audience that features a learned discussion between Dr. Arnn and the well-informed Hugh Hewitt. Amazing, but true. During the final hour of each Friday’s installment of the Hugh Hewitt radio program, Dr. Arnn and Professor Hewitt explore in depth a single philosophical or historical topic. The

program is best described, as stated on the Hillsdale website, as “a survey of great books, great men, and great ideas.” For extra intellectual firepower, a second Hillsdale faculty expert sometimes participates in the discussions. Many topics require several weeks to provide broadcast listeners the richest possible learning experience. The topics discussed thus far include, among others, the Iliad and the Odyssey, the Bible, Herodotus and Thucydides, Greek philosophy, and great statesmen. You might think that such discussions would be dry or “too academic.” Not so. Indeed, the conversations between Arnn and Hewitt are remarkably engaging, because the discussants are able to relate the great men of history and the greatest of ideas to events happening now, both at home and abroad. Dr. Arnn often cannot help himself from interjecting into the discussions his favorite topic, Winston Churchill. That is always fun. The best news is that every one of the Hillsdale Dialogues is archived and can be downloaded to any Internet-linked listening device. We download the shows to an iPhone and connect via Bluetooth to our car’s radio. So we get to listen, hour after hour (we just cannot get enough), to Dr. Arnn as we cruise down the Ohio Turnpike for Parents Weekends and CCAs. A real treat!

Hillsdale College offers its students a traditional liberal arts education that is second to none in the nation. Thanks to a growing number of online courses offered

by Hillsdale free of charge to any citizen willing to learn, it is no longer necessary to be an enrolled student to “step inside a classroom” at Hillsdale and get a taste of what happens there. In addition to courses on the U.S. Constitution, Western Heritage, American Heritage, Free Market Economics, and the Great Books (Ancient to Medieval), the College is expanding its online offerings this fall to include “The Presidency and the Constitution” and “Great Books 102: Renaissance to Modern.” Each course features lectures by Hillsdale’s outstanding professors as well as President Larry Arnn. The College has also re-structured and updated the popular online course on the U.S. Constitution: “Constitution 101: The Meaning and History of the Constitution.” All online classes are free to participants and feature readings, study guides, quizzes, and discussion groups. Since the online courses began in 2011, there have been over 890,000 total

registrations from some 550,000 individuals. Coming from all corners of the country and representing all age groups, learners revel in the chance to participate in a Hillsdale education. Pamela Miljak, a participant in the Great Books course, studied classic works of literature in the late 1960s, but returning to them with Hillsdale professors has brought greater depth to her understanding of the material. “The wonderful scholars of Hillsdale give new meaning to these great works of literature,” she says. “There is no such thing as being too old to learn. Age actually deepens and enriches the experience.” As Dave Casbon adds, participating in Hillsdale’s online courses has been “one of the most meaningful learning experiences of my life. I am grateful and will try to ‘carry the torch’ forward.” Hillsdale takes seriously its mission of educating good citizens, whether on campus or online, and looks forward to extending the dialogue that takes place in College classrooms to learners across America.

Just the Ticket by Sylvio VendittiPresident’s Club Traditional Member and Cruise Raffle Winner

My wife Mary Kay and I have been Hillsdale College contributors since 2011, President’s Club members since 2013, and have enjoyed attending various

Hillsdale events during that time. Last February, Mary Ewers enthusiastically suggested—you know how she can be—that I purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win a Hillsdale cruise. I declined because neither my wife nor I were interested in taking a cruise—even with Hillsdale. However, my wife made the case that purchasing a ticket wasn’t about us winning a trip; it was about us helping Hillsdale and its Parents Association. Furthermore, it wasn’t like we were actually going to win the raffle…so we bought a ticket. A month later the phone rang and it was Dr. Arnn informing us that we had, indeed, won the trip we thought we didn’t want to win. We just completed that cruise aboard the Regent Seven Seas Mariner! While we were fortunate to see Turkey, Greece, and Cyprus—in addition to meeting, conversing, and dining with the likes of Larry Arnn, Steve Hayes, George Gilder, Karen Elliott House, Paul Rahe, and Victor Davis Hanson—it was the other 157 cruisers that also made the trip so enjoyable and memorable for us. As with all President’s Club events, the personal stories of its members are compelling. Case in point: one evening we had dinner with a gentleman who graduated from college thinking he was going to be an aeronautical engineer. After two years on the job, he was no longer so sure. Fortunately for him, a senior executive of the company saw potential in him; with a recommendation from this executive, the young man entered law school and became a successful attorney. The young man’s mentor was Howard Hughes. Then there was the guy who went fly fishing in Chile with Vice President Dick Cheney. I’m sure there are many more such stories, and we anxiously await to hear them as our relationship with Hillsdale continues—be it on land or at sea. The stories are different, the people unique, but the common thread is the support for Hillsdale College and its mission. As such, we want to thank the Hillsdale College Parents Association for the opportunity they provided us to meet such people while cruising the Mediterranean and visiting Turkey, Greece, and Cyprus. My wife tells me there is a life lesson to be learned from this experience: Always listen to your wife, and wonderful things will happen.

The Hillsdale College Parents Association Steering Committee is sponsoring a series of fundraisers in support of the new chapel to be built on Hillsdale’s

main campus. The Rebirth of Liberty and Learning Campaign includes the chapel as a construction goal and as part of the College’s plan to provide students and guests with a much-needed place for worship, musical presentations, and academic ceremonies. Many all-college events have outgrown the nearby church in which they are currently held. Designed to be both beautiful and useful, the Hillsdale College chapel will be built near the center of the campus to provide 27,000 square feet of space and seating for up to 1,400. Additional space in the chancel will accommodate seating for orchestra and choir members during performances. The interior design is modeled after George Washington’s one-time house of worship, Christ Church in Philadelphia. Painted barrel ceilings, wooden pews, tall windows, and columns will create a stately but warm atmosphere. At the front of the nave, a cross and altar will be flanked by a pipe organ, choir seating, and a pulpit. A private chapel with seating for 45 people—suitable for smaller ceremonies and prayer groups—will be located near the chancel. A balcony will wrap around three sides of the sanctuary and house an organ and a choir loft. High, arched ceilings will

provide excellent acoustics that will elevate the worship or concert experience and create a more intimate feeling when many are gathered. An exterior portico will provide an elegant entrance. Duncan Stroik, a classical architect in the American style and professor of architecture at the University of Notre Dame, has designed the building to be similar in scale to Central Hall and to complement the original architectural style of the campus. Construction will begin next spring and will take approximately 30 months to complete. The cost of construction is projected at $23 million. An additional $2.5 million will comprise the chapel’s endowed operations and maintenance fund. Hillsdale College has received a generous leadership gift of $12.5 million designated toward the chapel’s construction and endowment. The College is raising matching funds in the form of cash and pledges by December 31, 2018. The Parents Association will help in this effort, and has set a fundraising goal of $2 million over the next three years. By supporting the chapel, the Parents Association will not only help Hillsdale to modernize and expand the campus, but it will also help to provide a sacred and tranquil place for generations of students, faculty, and guests who come to this campus to study, grow, and find inspiration in the long tradition of faith and learning of this unique college.

Nancy Johnson Executive Director of Institutional Advancement

The College’s Rebirth of Liberty and Learning Campaign is built around ambitious plans designed

to safeguard Hillsdale’s independence and share its message with others about the critical need to repair both education and government. In the years ahead, the campaign will enable the College to expand its liberal arts curriculum, hire new faculty to support it, and benefit citizens around the country through top-notch conferences, publications, and online learning opportunities. The endowment and capital components of our campaign will help us achieve this high purpose while addressing many of the school’s day-to-day needs. Renovation of the Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena in the sports complex is finished this fall. The Student Fitness Center is also complete and includes such features as mezzanines on the east and west sides, three renovated rooms that open up to provide a large dance studio, and a golf simulator. This much-needed renovation has been made possible thanks in large part to the support we received from our parents and grandparents. The Parents Association’s cruise raffle and other fundraising initiatives

were of tremendous help in bringing the new Student Fitness Center to fruition. While construction is progressing on the new Searle Center’s renovated auditorium and dining hall, we anticipate the start of another major construction project: a new chapel that will be built on our main campus. It will provide the campus community with a magnificent place for religious and academic services and will accommodate up to 1,400 people. We expect site work to begin in 2015 and continue for about two years. The College has received a major challenge grant toward the chapel’s $23 million construction cost and its $2.5 million endowed maintenance fund. To match the challenge, we are seeking gifts, pledges, and planned gifts to help us raise the balance of $13 million by December 31, 2018. Due to the sacred nature of the chapel, individual naming opportunities

are limited; however, all major donors to the project will be recognized in some way. We will keep our students, parents, and grandparents updated on the project once construction begins next year. Throughout the Rebirth of Liberty and Learning Campaign, we will achieve great things for our country and for the generations of Hillsdale College students yet to come. Your partnership as parents and grandparents is invaluable to our efforts, and we are deeply thankful.

Hillsdale’s premier donor society that recognizes members “for partnership in its mission, to promote

‘civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety’ through ‘sound learning,’ both in the classroom and through national outreach.” There are just over 3,180 memberships (comprised of individuals and couples) for a total of 5,205 members from across the country. Levels have recently changed for new or upgraded memberships only. Members at the Traditional level make a $15,000 gift outright (or pledge $1,500/year or $125/month for ten years). Our daughter is a politically aware, conservative-minded thinker who had the misfortune of attending school in

southern California, where education seems to tilt further left every year. She was frequently frustrated with teachers who presented a biased view of American history, or taught a political agenda rather than government. It began to look like she would

have to face the same frustration in college, until she discovered Hillsdale College. When Callie told us she was determined to attend Hillsdale, we were not certain it was the right choice. We had visions of our smart, hard-working daughter attending USC, Pepperdine, Boston University, or George Washington University. She applied to and was accepted by these and other schools, but she could not be talked out of Hillsdale College. We spent a few days at the College while our daughter got settled in her dorm. In that time, we met school officials, professors, other parents, and incoming students who impressed us greatly. Days later, Callie called to rave about her classes. Already, her voice was different. It was filled with excitement. It was her second week and she already seemed to be blossoming. We could not be happier for her.

CHARiTABLE REMAiNDER TRuSTS (CRTs)In exchange for your gift of cash, stock, real or personal property, or other assets, charitable remainder trusts can provide a fixed or variable lifetime or term of years income stream to any number of income beneficiaries along with current income and capital gains tax savings to you as the donor. At the end of the trust term, whatever remains in the trust, plus any growth and appreciation, becomes a gift to Hillsdale College and, if desired, other charitable organizations. Charitable trusts are extremely flexible planning tools and can help you achieve a number of personal tax and financial planning objectives.

Two Types of Charitable Remainder Trusts The charitable remainder annuity trusts (CRATs) offer a fixed income stream based on the initial value of trust assets. Charitable remainder unitrusts (CRUTs) offer a variable income stream based on the annual value of trust assets. CRTs may be funded to produce a current income stream (intervivos trust) or may take effect upon death (testamentary) for the benefit of named income beneficiaries.

Assets Used to Fund a CRT Charitable remainder trusts (CRTs) may be funded with many different types of assets. In addition to cash, appreciated stock, and real estate (including rental properties and farmland), you may also wish to consider using assets from an S Corporation or Limited Liability Company (LLC), personal property (coins, books, gems, art, vehicles, etc.), and life insurance to fund an immediate payment trust. Additionally, stock options, savings bonds, and retirement assets may be good candidates for funding a CRT that becomes effective at your death. We would be pleased to help you understand the different tax issues that may arise with a gift of each type of asset.

Income Stream Every charitable remainder trust must include at least a five percent payout provision (the average range is 5-9 percent). This income stream can be paid for the lives of selected income beneficiaries, such as you and your family members or others. To help children or grandchildren with the cost of college in the future or to help you save additional funds for retirement, this trust can also provide a “term of years” income stream (not to exceed twenty years). Additionally, some of our donors choose to combine the lifetime income stream (for themselves) with a term of years option (for children or grandchildren). With the latter option, and to defer any possible gift taxes until your passing, you may even retain the right to revoke the other beneficiaries’ income interest at your death.

Taxation of Income Stream The income from a charitable remainder trust is taxed as 1) ordinary income; then 2) capital gain income; 3) tax-free income; and, finally, 4) distribution of principal (also tax-free). To the extent that the trust generates ordinary income (generally from interest and dividends), that must be distributed FIRST before capital gain and tax-free income are paid out. It is important to note that the nature of the income (ordinary, capital gain, tax-free, etc.) an asset generates outside of a trust is identical to the nature of the income it will generate inside the trust. Therefore, if a capital asset (real estate, stock, various types of personal property) is sold inside a CRT, it would generate lower capital gain income. Similarly, if tax-free municipal bonds are placed inside a charitable remainder annuity trust, recent rulings suggest that they would generate only tax-free income back to the beneficiaries.

Tax Savings Because you are making an irrevocable gift to Hillsdale, an immediate payment CRT provides upfront income tax savings through a current income tax deduction. For gifts of capital assets, a CRT also allows you to bypass the upfront 15 or 20 percent capital gain tax on asset appreciation (plus the new 3.8 percent “Obamacare” surtax on net investment income). Since a charitable trust is irrevocable, any assets used for funding are removed from your taxable estate and, therefore, not subject to the 40 percent estate tax at your death.

Additional Contributions Unlike other planning vehicles, a charitable remainder unitrust allows you to make additional contributions over time. You don’t need to establish a new trust each time you want to contribute assets and receive the above-mentioned income and tax benefits.

Trustee Issues Every charitable remainder trust requires a trustee to manage and administer the trust—you may act as your own trustee or appoint another individual or institution to perform these tasks. At Hillsdale College, we currently manage more than 260 charitable trusts (with a total dollar value of $97 million) and offer trust management and administrative services without an annual fee (a savings of 1-1.25 percent of annual trust value) for both new and existing charitable trusts. Additionally, through our relationship with Graystone Consulting, we are able to offer institutional investment rates (approximately 95-101 basis points annually or 0.95%-1.01% of annual trust value) for trusts under our management. If you choose Hillsdale College as the trustee, you can safely redeploy whatever asset you contribute into a blended, diversified, actively managed portfolio consisting of equities, registered hedge funds, bonds, and various exchange traded funds (ETFs). Over the years, trusts managed by the College have enjoyed equity-like returns with about half the risk associated with an all-equity portfolio. The minimum investment for a CRT with the College as the trustee is $50,000 for a charitable remainder unitrust and $25,000 for a charitable remainder annuity trust. If you have an existing CRT, it may also be possible for you to name Hillsdale College as the successor trustee and receive the above-mentioned benefits, returns, and cost savings.

Multiple Charitable Beneficiaries Charitable remainder trusts may be established for the benefit of more than one charitable beneficiary. You don’t need a separate trust for each organization you wish to support—the remainder interest can be split among all of your favorite charities. You may also retain the right to change the ultimate charitable beneficiaries after the trust is established. If Hillsdale is selected as the trustee and at least a $50,000 beneficiary ($25,000 for annuity trusts), we are happy to offer free trust administrative services and low investment transaction fees as described above.

STuDENT FiTNESS CENTER uPDATEFollowing the completion of both the beautiful new Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center and Phase One of the Student Fitness Center, the College has made tremendous progress on Phase Two. Open for student use since last October, the indoor arena features three hardwood courts and a level of new fitness and cardio machines. This past summer, the College worked on three dance studios, a classroom, and a spinning room, six offices for coaches, three team locker rooms, a climbing wall, a smoothie bar, lockers for referees, permanent arena seating, a VIP room, and much-needed storage.

PARENTS ASSOCiATiON FuNDRAiSER—THE CHAPELThis fall, the Parents Association will begin helping the College raise funds for the construction of a new chapel on the main campus. I trust you are as excited as we are about this sacred structure and the beauty its presence will add to our campus. To help support this project, the Parents Association and

members of the Parents Association Steering Committee have set a goal of $2 million over the next few years. Gifts and resources from parents and grandparents have a profound impact on our students and their undergraduate experiences at Hillsdale. From Howard Music Hall to Grewcock Student Union, and from athletic facilities and fields to renovated dormitories, there are many facilities here that your student enjoys. Because your gifts will benefit not only current students but also those who follow, we invite you to participate in the Parents Fund today by making a gift or pledge toward the chapel. Every dollar we raise for the chapel will help the College meet a recent and generous dollar-for-dollar challenge grant.

CALLiNG ALL PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS!Join The President’s Club!We are grateful for the increasing number of current parents and grandparents who have joined The President’s Club. It is a privilege to partner with those who comprehend that the current $65,273 net cost of a Hillsdale education far outweighs the $32,866 that is charged for tuition, room, board, and fees—a cost aided by privately funded scholarships, grants, and loans. Note the chart that compares the net cost per student for 2014-2015 with the actual cost of tuition. What a blessing to be able to prepare America’s future leaders through the excellence of a Hillsdale education. The President’s Club is a way to follow in the footsteps of the parents and grandparents of past students who generously contributed so that today’s students might experience the benefit of a lower cost to attend Hillsdale. I am honored to be part of this fine group of current parents and grandparents, as well as past parents and grandparents, who exemplify the scripture, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

THANKS FOR THE SuMMER 2014 GATHERiNGS!We are grateful to the parent volunteers of incoming and current Hillsdale students who hosted 15 parties in 12 states this past summer. These were wonderful opportunities for new freshman students and their parents to meet current students and parents from their area, ask questions, and enjoy the camaraderie that comes from being part of the Hillsdale family. It is an ideal way for parents to get “plugged in” to Hillsdale College and all it has to offer them! Won’t you take a turn next summer? With your help, we can host parties all over the country. Our office coordinates these gatherings in response to the many calls we receive from freshman parents inquiring about such events. If you would like to host a summer party in your area, please go to the Hillsdale website, click on Support, and then click on Parents and then Volunteer Opportunities. The sub-committee list will appear, and you can click the e-mail address of the chair of the Freshman/Welcome Sub-Committee. Under the capable leadership of co-chairs Sheila Banovetz and Maureen Hall, you will receive direction and assistance. You may also call the Parent Relations Office.

HOLD THAT DATE!Fall Parents Weekend will be October 17-19, 2014, with Phonathon dates of Monday-Thursday, October 13-16, 2014. Spring Parents Weekend will be February 27-March 1, 2015, with the Phonathon dates of Monday-Thursday, February 23-26, 2015. Please volunteer! We look forward to hearing from you.

annual tuition increases averaged 3.5 percent from fiscal years 1996-2015.

“To recognize the Civil War honor of more than 500 Hillsdale College soldiers who dutifully answered the call of their country.”

Located on the main Hillsdale College campus as part of Liberty Walk is the Civil War Soldiers’ Monument, a bronze statue of the color-bearer holding “Old Glory.” It was dedicated on June 20, 1895, in memory of all Alpha Kappa Phi veterans. Lorado Taft (1860-1936) was the sculptor.
