activities and services that enrich the mind, body and spirit.

Musical Talent Show Sunday, Aug. 25th, 2-4 PM at the Senior Center

Ben Cooley, Troop #170, is doing an Eagle Scout project that would benefit seniors and the Senior Center. Donations through a musical talent show will provide funds to build a gazebo at Maple Village. In addition,

funds will be used to purchase a special listening system for the Senior Center. Save the date and help support this wonderful project!

Opioids and older adults Wednesday, September 25th at 10:30am

The opioid epidemic is an issue of growing concerning in the US. Its impact can be felt by all age groups, including older adults. Come learn

about the potential risks associated with medication overuse and mismanagement, learn tips to assist family and friends in addressing concerns about

their loved one’s opioid use, review proper disposal of opioid medications, and more!

In the morning choose between shopping at the Clinton Outlets or go to the beach. Lunch will be at Lenny & Joe’s in Westbrook. After lunch, we will all go to Hammonasset Beach. Meigs Point

has a pavilion, vending machines and restrooms. It’s great to walk on the beach or

enjoy the ocean view!

Everyone will be required to leave the bus

for the afternoon at Meigs Point. Bring a chair, hat, sunglasses etc.

Bridge (Party)—Enjoy playing bridge? Join this experienced group on Tuesday afternoons, 1-3 PM

Canasta (Modern American Style) - Instruction available for this popular card game on Tuesdays, 10-12 Noon.

Chess Club —Bring a friend and drop by to play a game of chess on Tuesdays or Thursdays, 12-3:30 PM.

Friendly Folks—This group of friendly ladies likes to get together Fridays 10-12N to chat, knit, or crochet.

Mah Jongg (American Style)—Played with 152 tiles, racks and a scoring card. Meets Wednesdays, 1-3 PM.

Mexican Train: Be the first player to lay down all of your dominoes. Easy & lots of fun! Tues. 1-3PM, Thurs. 9-12N

Movies—Flyers to be posted for the monthly movies.

Pickleball—Have fun playing Pickleball on Tuesdays 1:30-3:30 PM and /or Fridays 1:30-3:30 PM.

Ask the Physical Therapist– 4th Wednesday of the Month at 10:00am. Free! Topic posted each month. Bible Study—Non-denominational group study. Tuesdays, 10:30-11:30AM. Call for current topic. Book Discussion Group—meets 1-2:30 PM on the 3rd Thurs. of the month. Call center for book list! Current Events Discussion Group—discuss topics of interest every Wed., 12:30—2:00 pm “Salon” Discussion Group—This French word used in 1664 denotes a group that gathers together to discuss a

variety of issues ranging from politics to current events. Share your opinions at this forum every Wed., 1-3 PM.

Veteran’s Coffee Hour—4th Thursday, 10:30-11:30AM. Learn about benefits & entitlements for veteran/spouse.

Share experiences along with discussion of current and historical military events.

Exercise Programs– Minimum Enrollments Required

Beat PD (Parkinson’s Disease) - Wed. 1:30-2:30/2:30-3:30 PM. Functional Interval Training & Boxing.

Chair Yoga—Mon. 10:30-11:30AM. A gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair.

Core Strength & Balance—Mon. 1:00-2:00 PM. Exercises for all levels done standing/sitting.

Exercise with Lorie—Tues. 11:30-12:30PM. Exercises focus on activities of daily living, muscle conditioning, stretching along with breathing and relaxation techniques. Program is done seated with some standing.

Fitness Center—Open Mon-Fri, by appointment. Orientation required with trainer. See page 2 for more info & fees.

Power & Fitness—Thursdays 1:00-2:00 PM. Move to the music for a mild cardio workout. Strengthen the major muscle groups using hand weights and stretch bands. Bring your water bottle.

Qigong— Thursdays, 10:30AM-11:30 AM. Use movement to stimulate flow of chi, increase vitality and promote relaxation. Increase flow of blood to the various organs. Exercises done mainly seated.

Tai Chi for Health—Tues. 10:30—11:30 AM. Low impact exercise. Healthful & harmonious movements tone & increase muscle flexibility. Improve fitness and balance. Exercises done standing.

Zumba Gold—Fridays, 10:30-11:30 AM. Dance to Latin Music for an aerobic workout!
