7/31/2019 Parish Accountability Report 11-12
1/4
The highlights of adult
formation for the parish
included education of the
new Roman missal, bible
studies, a Christmas
concert, and R.C.I.A.
We worked on the
changes to the New Ro-
man Missal in variousways: by participating in
the Why Catholic? small
faith sharing groups; by
doing Our Call to Wor-
ship multi-generational
sessions, skits, games,
and video clips. In addi-
tion, we offered two Ask
Father Paul sessions.
This past year we contin-
ued the series, The
Great Adventure Bible
Study with the book of
Revelation and also
studied A Biblical Walk
Through the Mass. In
Dec. 11 we welcomed
the Mid-Ky Chorus for
their beautiful Christ-mas concert.
The Rite of Christian
Initiation met on Sun-
days throughout the
year with five people
receiving Baptism, Holy
Eucharist and Confir-
mation at the Easter
Vigil. The highlight of
the evening was wit-
nessing a tearful Brooke
Ann Armstrong being
baptized and the warm
embrace awaiting her as
her father wrapped her in
a warm towel as she
walked out of the baptis-
mal font. The Holy Spirit
was present! Two othersreceived First Holy Eu-
charist and Confirmation
while four others remain
in the Catechumenate.
We look forward to their
receiving the sacraments
in the near future.
Blessings, Lisa Downs
Per the Archdiocese,
each parish is asked to
provide to their parish-
ioners a Parish Account-
ability Report, or recap of
each fiscal year. Thisreport includes our annu-
al income statement and
end of year balance
sheet, as well as activi-
ties, ministries and sac-
ramental information for
the 11-12 (July 1-June
30) fiscal year .
This past year we were
blessed with Fr. Paul
Beach and have recently
welcomed our new pas-
tor, Fr. Dale Cieslik, who
joins us from St. Elizabeth
Ann Seton. Before Fr.
Paul left he challenged us
to continue our capital
campaign giving untilMay 14. Even though our
five year campaign ended
June 12, at that time we
still owed approximately
$590,000 on our church
loan. Our blue envelopes
used for the capital cam-
paign giving will continue
to be mailed to parishion-
ers. (We could never have
anticipated the downturn
in the economy soon after
we took out our loan.)
Prayerfully consider your
part in helping our debt
repayment.
His peace, Helen Hagan

Lord God of
compassion and
mercy, you
opened a door in
the East for St.
Francis Xavier
when you sent
him to preach
your Gospel.
Send us in our
day over the face
of the earth, so
that the joy of
our Mother, the
Church, may be
made perfect.
Amen

St. Francis Xavier hosted a suc-
cessful Ministry Fair in February
which was a great opportunity to
meet new and existing parishion-ers and discuss the various minis-
tries, organizations and activities
this parish has to offer.
In conjunction with the Ministry
Fair, a successful silent auction
was held which included Reli-
gious Education class keepsake
art pieces, support from fellow
ministries, the community and
themed gift baskets from SFX
ministries. Folks enjoyed food
(compliments of Roosters andFamily Ministry), fun, fellowship
and a little bit of fundraising, This
event raised $5,709!
The first annual Walk with God
walk-a-thon was
held Saturday,March 31 at Bullitt
East High School.

tainment and Sub-
way for snacks.

Youth Ministry
classes hosted the annual
Thanksgiving and Valentine din-
ners for the seniors of our parish.
The children really enjoyed cook-
ing and serving the senior mem-
bers. The children have said eve-ry year that this was so much fun
and they really enjoyed the night.
Twyla Mills works with the chil-
dren in teaching them many new
skills including cooking that will
help them in their future lives.
This year we had 32 children

The Religious Education year of
2011-2012 was filled with 224
smiling faces. During the year,
the children grew in their faith
formation with the help of very
dedicated, caring Catechists thatshare their faith with the children
in their classes. We are blessed
here at St. Francis Xavier to have
such wonderful people working
with our children.

In addition to my duties as a per-

Xavier, I have been the Worship
Committee chairperson since
2005. Activities such as: liturgi-
cal planning, music ministry, art
and environment, ministry sched-
uling and training, nursing home
ministry, bereavement and funeral
planning are coordinated by the
Worship Committee.
During 2011, the Worship Com-
mittee was also responsible for
the full implementation of the new
General Instruction of the Roman
Missal (GIRM) and the introduc-
tion of the Third Edition of The
Roman Missal.
Bringing our Sunday liturgies into
full compliance with the new
GIRM was accomplished by mak-
ing some minor changes to pos-
train ministers in all areas of par-
ish activities, as well as, inform
the parish at large about the
changes that would become ef-
fective on the First
Sunday of Advent.
