The St. James Learning Communities Initiativ e (LCI) encourages y ou to seek, ponder, andoffer acknowledgement of God's presence in our liv es. Each of us is inv ited to deepen ourspirituality , and to discern where God is leading St. James as a community offaith. Consider using one of the Adv ent calendars as part of y our "Dwelling with God"experience. Look for where God is present in y our life - at work, at play and athome. Share photos and stories by sending to [email protected] , place inthe Learning Communities Initiativ e mail box , or giv e to one of LCI facilitators.

The Clinton Area Ministerium Lenten Gatherings
The Clinton Area Ministerium inv ites all to our Ecumenical Lenten Series, which will behosted in the fellowship room at Stone Presby terian Church (use the Williams Streetentrance) in Clinton, NY on Thursday ev enings from March 14th to April 11 th, beginningwith a light soup and bread supper at 6:00pm. Then there will be a session shown fromAdam Hamilton's v ideo series, "Final Words from the Cross", followed by a discussionmoderated by one of Clinton's clergy . The program will end before 7 :30 pm. Please plan tomake this fascinating series part of y our Lenten experience.

Each church is responsible for prov iding soup and bread the T hursday thattheir leader m oderates. Fr. Gary m oderates on March 28. T here is a sign upsheet in the parish hall for prov iding soup and / or bread.
Blessing Bags Collection
The folks at St. Margaret's house are collecting items to make Blessing Bags. Considerdropped off donations either at St. Margaret's house, 47 Jordan Road, New Hartford, or inthe collection basket in the back of the church by Tuesday April 9. The zip-lock bags willbe filled with the hy giene and related items to distribute to the homeless, families liv ingbelow the pov erty lev el, senior citizens and children that are in need.

Cook-In to benefit Your Neighbors
There will be a "Cook- in" for Y our Neighbors, Inc. the weekend of March 23/24. Y ou canbring donations of cooked meats, casseroles, v egetables, desserts, potatoes, rice pasta, orany thing that can be put into a frozen meal. The food will then be apportioned into TVdinner sty le tray s to be frozen. The meals are distributed to frail, elderly , home boundclients of Y our Neighbors, Inc. We need v olunteers to cook and to assemble meals. Y oucan drop off y our cooked food donations to the St. James' kitchen refrigerator with Y ourNeighbors clearly marked on it please. We will be assembling the meals on Sunday , March24th after the coffee hour is cleaned up. All help is greatly appreciated.
Rise Against Hunger
The Outreach Committee is once again partnering with other local organizations toparticipate in the Rise Against Hunger driv e. This international hunger relief programprov ides packaged meals for those in need due to natural disasters, political unrest, andother crises. For more information, go to www.riseagainsthunger.org. Locally , our teams from area churches and groups raise funds to purchase the foodsupplies and participate in a work day to prepare the packaged meals (September 28 thisy ear; y ou will hear more about that later). Last y ear, the plate offerings, funds raised froma y outh group supper, and the Outreach Committee's contribution totaled nearly $3000. We hope to exceed that this y ear.
We hope that y ou will join us in this v ery worthwhile cause. Throughout Lent, env elopeswill be av ailable in the pews. Checks may be written to St. James' Church, with "RiseAgainst Hunger" in the memo line. The Outreach Committee has v oted to match fundscollected up to a total of $2000.
Update on the roof for St. Matthisfrom Karen Anderson
Wonderful news! Our friends in Haiti will be celebrating Easter in sty le!! The roof iscomplete and they hope to get a new coat of paint on the Church and tiles on the floor intime for Easter! It is easy to think we are just a small church, but look at what we hav ehelped make possible! This is not only their place of worship, it is also the school buildingfor the children. I (Karen) know it is Lent, but Hallelujah! Hallelujah!!

Senior Exercise Classes at the Kirkland Town Library
Ov er 65? Want to get activ e? Join us at the library on Monday s and Thursday s from 9:15 -10 a.m. from January 14 until April 11 for a series of free v ideo exercise classes. Most
exercises are performed in a chair. All equipment is prov ided. No experience is needed.Ev aluate y our results with a final surv ey . Space is limited; contact the library to sign up.
To qualify , participants must not be doing any kind of strength training. Walking, y oga andtai chi are okay .
