Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to re-ceive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment re-ceive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. A Perfect Act of Contrition

Father of mercy, like the prodigal son I return to you and say:

"I have sinned against you and am no longer worthy to be

called your child." Christ Jesus, Savior of the world, I pray with

the repentant thief to whom you promised Paradise: "Lord,

remember me in your kingdom." Holy Spirit, fountain of love,

I call on you with trust: "Purify my heart, and help me to walk

Dear St. Albert Family,

We have arrived at the last Sunday of the liturgical year

2020, which we celebrate with the Feast of Christ the King. The

central feature of the Scriptures on this feast is the promise of

our shepherd God coming to rescue us and to lead us home. In

our lives of faith lived in the church, we have the blessing to

count ourselves as members of the Lord’s flock and form the

beginning of time, God has done nothing other than seek after

us. Let’s repent our sins and selfishness and “allow ourselves to

be caught” by the God who loves us as our good and gentle shep-

herd.

This Thursday is the celebration of Thanksgiving. In the

midst of many challenges in our society and world today, we still

must find the courage to be grateful to God for his many bless-

ings. I know that many of us will be celebrating Thanksgiving in

unfamiliar circumstances because of the pandemic. It might be a

great help to all of us to begin our Thanksgiving day with Mass.

We will celebrate Mass in-person on Thanksgiving day at 9:00am

and also the Mass will be live-streamed.

Next Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent and the begin-

ning of a new liturgical year 2021. May this new year of grace

(Anno Domini) bring us healing, reconciliation, and peace. In

His peace alone we will find our joy.

Because of the pandemic and the limited seating capacity

of our church, we are proposing that parishioners celebrate

“Christmas @ Home 2020“ this year. You will be receiving in the

mail and distributed at church a prayer and Christmas guide ti-

tled “Christmas @ Home 2020“. On Saturday, November 28th,

we will hold a drive-through pick up of our “Christmas Prayer

Package“ in which you will find several religious items to help

you to celebrate “Christmas @ Home 2020”.

We cannot encourage people to come to celebrate

Christmas Eve and Christmas day in person this year because of

the limited capacity. For those who would like to attempt in-

person worship on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, reservations

will be required. Information will appear in this bulletin and on

our webpage, www.saint-albert.org, as to how one can make res-

ervations for groups no larger than six household members.

Thank you for helping us spread the word of our best

attempt to celebrate Christmas here at Saint Albert the Great

parish this year.

Peace,

“Liturgy & Prayer”

ALL SOULS REMEMBRANCE

We remember, we celebrate, we believe

We remember, we celebrate, we

believe. Praying for those who

have died is an important part of

our lives. We remember those who

have loved and nurtured us, and

have shaped us. We celebrate the

precious gift of their lives as a blessing from God. We believe

and hope in the promise of eternal life.

We encourage all parishioners to use the All Souls envelope

included in your packet to write the names of your deceased

loved ones. The envelopes can be placed in the collection

basket, dropped off or mailed to the parish office. The enve-

lopes will then be included in the offering of the Eucharistic

Liturgy. You can also send a “virtual envelope” online with

names of your deceased loved ones. Just click on “All Souls

Day” link and follow the prompts.

Family Perspectives

In a golden rule, Jesus tells us we must

care for our neighbor as ourselves. To-

day this commandment is expanded:

we are to care for those in need as we

would care for the Lord himself. For

whether we are serving another or

turning our gaze and walking away, we

are comforting or rejecting the Lord.

As a family, how have you practiced

the corporal works of mercy?

Adopt a Family in Prayer

In celebration of the feast of Saint Albert the Great, we are

continuing to deepen the communion among us. We promise

to pray for one another, especially those who are preparing to

celebrate a sacrament, serving in the military, bereaved or

chronically ill, or engaged to be married.

We also pray for those discerning religious

life or those who are First-Responders.

Due to COVID and CDC guidelines, our

prayer cards for these intentions can be

requested through a link on our website,

www.saint-albert.org. Click on the link to

request one or more prayer cards. After

requesting your card(s), you will receive an

email confirming your request, giving you the first name of a

member from our parish included in your selected category.

The prayer card will be attached so you can print in the con-

venience of your home. If you do not have a computer, simp-

ly call our parish office and we will take your request by phone

and will send you the prayer card in the mail.

Please pray the prayer on the card(s) for the next 12 months

for the names(s) indicated on the card(s). Grow in your sense

of communion with one another and the Lord by connecting

through prayer. And thank you for joining in communion

with our parish community!

Campaign for Human

Development

Many American families are struggling

to make ends meet but the struggle is

even more difficult for the nearly 46.2

million Americans living in poverty.

Your donation will empower local com-

munities and strengthen families that

are on the margins. Parishes and organ-

izations in the Diocese of Cleveland are

using the funds from the CCHD cam-

paign via awarded grants to bring about

real change and sustainable processes

that help people in poverty break this

cycle. Thank you for your generous

support. Envelopes for this special ap-

peal are included with your parish enve-

lopes.

St. Albert the Great Bereavement

Support Ministry

The St. Albert the Great Bereavement Support Ministry has

been active even during these extraordinary times, and we want-

ed to share what is available to those who have lost a loved one.

We have begun posting Bereavement Support Videos on our

saint-albert.org parish website:

Click on Ministries -Bereavement Support,

https://saint-albert.org/bereavement-support

or Direct link to youtube- https://www.youtube.com/playlist?

list=PLR1bjwc1HXOaE8ZTnX7JCKuPAcQ9x8mFj

These are available for anyone to view. The videos share scrip-

tures, prayers, reflections, witness stories of individual grief jour-

neys and devotional videos to pray with us (Rosary for the de-

ceased, Stations of the Cross for the Bereaved). Some videos (6)

are posted and there will be other regular

additions to watch for. The videos discuss

a variety of topics; Handling the Holidays,

Emptiness, Tears & Sorrow, The Weight

of Grief, and specific types of loss will be

added (loss of a child- adult & young child,

loss of a spouse at a young age, repressed

grief, losing a loved one after a long illness,

…). These are sample versions of our small

group Seasons of Healing sessions without the sharing. The vid-

eos are not intended to replace the groups but to be a supple-

mental source of comfort now as well as when the groups begin

again.

We are always available for phone conversations or private so-

cially distanced sessions (3 people). Also, any of the prayers,

reflections, booklet or other materials are available upon re-

quest. Please contact Tom Sawyer (440-263-8730 / thomassaw-

yer8@gmail) or call the parish office (440-237-6770).

We encourage you to watch these videos, and they can be

viewed with your family or others who have lost a loved one,

and to share the website with people you know who might find

some support.

Our prayers are with those who have lost a loved one and for

the eternal peace of the departed.

Dear Friends,

Carmona Caravan of the International Order of the Al-

hambra is an organization of Catholic men and women

who are dedicated to assisting intellectually challenged

children and adults. Hopefully, this is a one-time plea

for help.

Once a year, Carmona Caravan collects donations from

individuals as they come out of Saturday evening and

Sunday Masses. Typically, in a year, we raise around

$15,000 at about a dozen churches. We contribute ALL

of those donations (plus interest!) to a variety of organi-

zations that directly assist intellectually disabled children

and adults. These grants are made to camping pro-

grams, educational facilities, and a group home. All of

the money stays in the Northeast Ohio area.

Because of COVID-19, attendance at Masses is substan-

tially reduced and social distancing dictates that we

should not come in direct contact with individuals. Our

ability to raise funds for people in need has come to a

complete halt. Their need has not diminished.

If you can find a way to make a donation of any amount,

your kindness would be most appreciated.

Carmona Caravan, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) corporation regis-

tered in the state of Ohio. For more information, please

visit (and Like!) our new Facebook page at

www.facebook.com/carmonacaravaninc

There are several ways to donate:

Preparing for Next Sunday’s Mass Parish LinC Letter November 29, 2020 First Sunday of Advent

Read the following Scripture passage paying attention to a word,

phrase, or idea that stands out to you:

Jesus said to his disciples: “Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come. It is like a man trav-

eling abroad. He leaves home and places his servants in charge, each with his own work, and orders the gatekeep-

er to be on the watch. Watch, therefore; you do not know when the Lord of the house is coming, whether in the

evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or in the morning. May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping.

What I say to you, I say to all: ‘Watch!”

Consider and Discuss these 3 Questions:

Considering your life today....

1. What in this reading comforted you?

2. What in this reading encouraged you?

3. What in this reading challenged you?

For further contemplation....

What conversion of mind, heart, and life is the Lord asking of me?

conclude by praying our “Parish Communion Prayer”

O Communion of Love, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, embrace us as your children in this family of

faith. Welcome us to a place at your table in the wedding feast of heaven. O Father of Mercy, forgive us as we

forgive. Reconcile us as one Body in Christ and make us instruments of your Peace. O Spirit of Fire and Light,

send us as your witnesses in daily life. Through our prayer, faith, and good works may we become welcoming

doorways, inviting others to enter and encounter your Holy Communion of Love.

We make this prayer, Father, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and through Christ our Lord. Amen

Step 3

Four steps to LinC together at home, church meeting, or anywhere!

Make Use of One of These Communion Connections:

This weekend we welcome Advent into our lives and our hearts. It is the season of waiting, and preparing with

joy-filled hope for the coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Advent is that sacred season of anticipation

and expectation in which we come to terms with the deepest yearning of our soul – a yearning fulfilled only in Je-

sus Christ. These four weeks steadily and slowly prepare us for the delicate yet powerful intimacy of God-with-us

that the Incarnation truly is. We relive this mystery throughout our Advent days, keeping our hearts focused on

this impeccable love of God. Advent brings to us the grace to make each of our ordinary human lives, with its lim-

itations and brokenness, the place where Jesus dwells. And our soul finds peace.

So let us pray together and wait for the coming of our Savior; the birth of the Divine Presence in our lives, bring-

ing a peace that is beyond all worldly peace… Stir up our hearts, O Lord, to make ready the path of your Only

Begotten Son, that, through his coming, we may be found worthy to serve you with minds made pure.

Come, Lord Jesus!

We await your coming.

Come, O Come, Emmanuel.
