Space Coast Art Festival,

(SCAF) is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization gov-erned by an all volunteer Board of Directors. In 1963, a small group of artists and local community leaders, formed the first ‘Co-coa Beach Sidewalk Art Show’. Spon-sored by the City of Cocoa Beach and supported by the Cocoa Beach Wom-an’s Club. Today, in our 51st year, we are one of the premier art festivals in the southeastern United States and a Thanksgiving weekend tradition to thousands.


The Board of Directors and I welcome you to the 51st Annual Space Coast Art Festival at Port Canaveral. The grounds surrounding the Exploration Tower is the back drop for this year’s festival.

240 artists from around the United States will showcase their exceptional talent of paintings, woodwork, jewelry and more at our new location. Our detailed map shows you where all your favorite artists will be and many new ones. Saturday 100 or more student artists, from Brevard County schools will display their talents at the Student Art Show. This must see, one day event, is a stepping stone for these future artists.

Saturday and Sunday some of the Best of Brevard bands will be on our main stage. The Daily City Food Truck Bazaar will offer a variety of foods from 15 gourmet food trucks. Little ones can have their face painted or create a craft at the Hands-on-Art tent. Parking is plentiful with Park and Ride throughout the port, Cape Royal Building in Cocoa Beach and Craig Technologies in Cape Canaveral. Our Festival closes each day at 5:00 but the many restaurants and business in The Cove will be open for all to enjoy.

J. Craig Tompkins

is an artist and designer living and working in Santa Fe, NM, where he serves as Assistant Professor joint appointment at the Institute of American Indian Arts. As joint appointment faculty he teaches in Studio

Arts, focusing on Digital Arts, and Cinematic Arts and Technology, focusing on Animation. He received an M.F.A. in Electronic Arts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2009. Craig works primarily in the fields of 3D animation, previsualization, and scale modeling, branching out into digital fabrication and installation. Craig’s work has shown nationally and internationally from New York to Novi Sad, Serbia.

Jeffrey W. Allison

is the Paul Mellon Collec-tion Educator and Man-ager, Statewide Programs and Exhibitions at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and a professional photographer. He holds a BA in photography and film from Virginia Inter-mont College and an MFA

in photography from VCU. He has curated numerous exhibitions of photogra-phy. He currently teaches Advanced Photography and the History of Pho-tography at the VMFA and has taught for over thirty years at institutions including Virginia Inter-mont College, Virginia Commonwealth Univer-sity, East Tennessee State University, the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, and Virginia Highlands Com-munity College.

This year’s winning artist is Henry Lund, a Cocoa

Beach resident. Lund was born in Rapid City, South

Dakota in 1951 and attended DeLaura Middle School

and Satellite High. He enrolled in art classes at

Brevard Community College and later studied under

famed artist Peter Max.

The Student Art Show is held on Saturday, No-vember 29th, and features over two-hundred stu-dents from Kindergarten to High School. The Stu-dent Art Show is the step-ping stone to the future for these aspiring artists as they display their wa-tercolors, sculpture and mixed media. Discover art through the eyes of these young artists, and visit us at 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 29th to see the results of the judging.
