Our enrichment programme comprises of a wide range of extra-curricular activities. These include Saturday schools, sporting, arts and creative clubs, plus pre-school and post-school coursework sessions including a homework club and breakfast club where students can read and enjoy a free breakfast.

Students have the opportunity to enjoy inter-school competitions, educational outings and foreign visits for sporting tours, field trips or to develop language skills. Our students relish special theme days such as the school’s international festival, ‘Parkstock’.

Park View students know that their opinions count. With an elected school council and year councils, many students get the opportunity to participate in the development of Park View. Open to all years, our student leadership programme gives students responsibilities as translators, supervisors, and participants in staff recruitment.

Our house system encourages closer collaboration between students across the school and develops a sense of belonging. Every child and teacher is allocated to one of our four houses: Elm, Oak, Cedar and Maple.

Our vibrant curriculum – including a wide range of GCSE and BTEC courses – is designed to encourage a love of learning in every child. Teachers challenge all our students, setting personalised targets, monitoring progress and providing additional support when required. We actively promote independent learning skills so students are ready for their future.

Our Performing Arts work enables us to use drama, music and dance to build students’ confidence in a way that benefits all areas of learning. Students participate in creative workshops and productions around school and in the community, and we are proud to have achieved the prestigious Artsmark Gold award.

New technologies are used innovatively across the curriculum and our school, demonstrated by retention of the ICT Mark. We also use our managed learning environment (MLE) to promote online learning.

With a strong focus on literacy, our average class size in English is 22. Our specialist teaching staff ensure that students with English as an additional language or with special educational needs participate fully in the life of Park View and make outstanding progress.

All students are encouraged to become “Park View learners”.

We provide a safe learning environment with a firm anti-bullying culture and our staff work hard to make students feel happy, secure and empowered. In return, we demand very high standards in terms of classwork, homework, behaviour, punctuality, attendance and uniform.

Park View inculcates an ethos of respect, which results in a strong sense of community.

The school understands that students’ happiness is the key to achievement in all areas of learning.

Our students benefit from personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education that is taught in both curriculum and tutor time. By exploring topics such as relationships and personal finance, our young people develop the confidence to make positive life choices. We nurture all students with personalised support – from induction for our new year 7s right through to careers and further education guidance for year 11s. Our non-teaching Year Team Deputies are focused on pastoral support and some students have been trained as peer mentors. Students and their families have access to exceptional support services at school.

Internationalism has a strong focus and celebrates the languages spoken in the school. Ofsted 2013
