Hello Parkman,

We have had a great summer of getting to know one another and spending time in the Word. It is great to know that no matter where you are in the world, if you run into fellow believers, you are home. You have your family around. The body of Christ is amazing and I am always thankful when I run into believers.

So was Paul. Paul loved the Lord and was commissioned by the Lord to teach the Gospel to countless people. He believed and he went. Paul showed us in Galatians how we are saved by the grace of Christ alone, (Galatians 1:6). It is the precious blood of Christ that has cleansed us. There is nothing we can do to earn our salvation, and there is nothing we can do to lose our salvation. I love that about the letters Paul wrote.

But he also pointed something else out. He pointed out that while we were saved by the grace of Christ alone, through faith, that we are called to something more. Galatians 5:13, “you, my brother’s, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, SERVE on another in love.” Obviously I capitalized the word serve. But there is a reason for that. Many people claim to be followers of Christ. Many people believe they are saved, and they very well may be, we are not called to judge salvation. But Jesus does say that you can judge a tree by its fruit, Matthew 7.

Paul points to two types of people; those of the world and those of the word. People of the world are easy to spot, they sow out of their own sinful nature; sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like – they will NOT inherit the kingdom of God. And people of the Word are easy to spot, they sow out of the fruit of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. They do it, not out of their own being, but because they have given themselves over to the Lord.

I point these two types of people out because we are called to a higher standard. For too long now Christians in America have sat in their comfy pews, they have listened to 20, 30, 40 minutes sermons, and some great songs, and then they have gone home to live life like everyone else. Yes, there are exceptions. But we are called to live differently.

Our sermon series for the Fall is going to be on Abraham. I challenge you all to go and read Genesis 12-25. We will be spending our time, as you can see here in the newsletter, only on chapters 12-22, but Abraham was a man of faith. And we see that faith is an action. It sent Abraham on a journey, it challenged Abraham, and because of his faith, many have been blessed.

We are called to go and fulfill the great commission. We are saved by grace; you can judge a tree by its fruit. Those that follow the Lord, like Abraham, are sent to bring the Good News to a lost and dying generation. That is the challenge, will you live by faith? Will you bring the Good News to those suffering? Will you live by Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and self-control? Will you live showing the love of Christ to others, just as He has shown it to you?

August 25 Administrative Council Meeting Minutes

The Administrative Council met on August 25, 2015 in the old sanctuary with the following present: Pastor Will Coley, Connie Czacherski, Eugene Mach, Jim & Denise Toth, Kathy Imhof, Kevin Phile, Dave Smith, Scott & Denise Villers, Dennis & Lilly Coz, Tom & Jan Gotham, Gail Duchscherer, and Diane Beeman

Dennis Coz called the meeting to order at 7:30 and Jim Toth opened with prayer.

Minutes from the July 28, 2015 meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer's Report - Dave Smith reported the checking account balance of $1,433.24 as of June 30, 2015 after receipts and transfers of $11,604.17 and checks and transfers in the amount of $11,159.07 leaving a balance of $1,878.34 as of July 31, 2015. The savings account had a beginning balance of $20,014.57 with a transfer to checking in the amount of $2,625.00 leaving a balance of $17,389.57 as of July 31, 2015. A six-month budget recap was also provided. A damage report in the amount of $8,231.02 for the lightning strike was submitted to Church Mutual.

Trustee Ministry - Kathy Imhof reported that the Sump Pump under the elevator has been fixed. Acquire Fire protection was done, there is one issue to be resolved. The fence and a clothes line have been installed at the parsonage. Church roof replacement has begun with completion expected in 10 business days. The clothes bin from St. Pauly Textile is to be installed on Sept 24 or 29. Work day scheduled for Sept 19.

Elder's Report – Jim Toth reported they met twice with Pastor Will discussing Pastor’s trip to the CCCC conference prompting ideas and suggestions. Continuing study of the book “Spiritual Healthy Church”

Deacon's Report – Connie Czacherski reported the Deacon’s continue their usual responsibilities. Fred continues working on the food cupboard; meals were provided to Bev Lipscomb during her surgery recovery.

Ministry Replacement – No report

Worship - Denise Toth met with Pastor Will about child care during service – averaging 8-10 kids each Sunday. Volunteers are scheduled for every Sunday through the second Sunday of October with the exception of Labor Day weekend. Cards are working well, the children are getting used to more structure. Discussed having some type of mailbox for each child.

Christian Fellowship - Denise Villers reported the Progressive Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, September 12 beginning at the home of Susan Guy at 5:30 pm for appetizers. Discussed doing a painting night in the spring closer to Mother’s Day as possibly a mother/daughter activity.

Women's Fellowship - Denise Villers reported dinner out was on Tuesday, August 11 at Vinny’s in Middlefield with approximately 24 in attendance. A good time was had by all. The next meeting will be held at Cherie Villers on September 14 and will be discussing the fall baking.

Discipleship – Gail Duchscherer mentioned that tables are missing from the downstairs classrooms and would like them returned or replaced. It was decided not to do a big Rally Day kickoff. Planning a breakfast buffet Sunday, September 13. Adult Sunday school study will be on Genesis beginning September 20 through November 22 – looking for congregation members to lead the class. There will be no Sunday school November 29, Thanksgiving week-end. There will be a short Advent series to be announced for the month of December.

Pastor's Report – Pastor Will Coley will soon start the fall sermon series on Abraham with Sunday school study to coincide. Children’s Church materials have been ordered. Progressively adding a little more structure instead of just play time. Pastor Will has been in contact with other churches discussing a co-ed softball game with another church in September, and possibly having a bowling night once a month. CCCC conference went well – was encouraged to meet with people in the congregation in addition to shut-ins and those in the hospital, to build relationships.

Outreach – Eugene Mach reported there will be a Veterans dinner on November 8th. Veterans will be encouraged to attend and socialize but will not be permitted to “work” the dinner. Pie Brigade will be the week before Thanksgiving – pies will be baked on Saturday and the congregation will be encouraged to take a pie after church on Sunday as an outreach to take to someone that does not normally attend church. Movie nights will continue the third Friday of each month with more promotion. Discussed the addition of family game nights on the first Friday of each month.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 pm. Those in attendance circled for prayer. Pastor Will closed in prayer.

“Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as

righteousness.”

We started off our time together looking at the life of Peter and how our walks with Christ parallel Peter so well. We have our strong moments of faith, and we have our strong moments of a lack of faith. Which is why Paul’s letter this summer to the Galatians is so powerful, as is the life of Peter; we are saved by the Grace of Jesus. We did nothing to earn our salvation, and we can do nothing to lose our salvation.

But, and I will be emphasizing this often in the coming months, faith is something that gets us going.

Faith, as we see in the life of Abraham, sent him away from his family. It sent him out. We are called to do the same. Remembering that we are all a different part of the body of Christ, we have to remember that we can’t just sit still. We have to find out what God has in store for us, whether it’s full time missions, short term missions, our own work places, or even the nursery.

The question is; where is God leading you?

SEPTEMBER / OCTOBER FEATURED MISSION IS THAT OF THE LARSON’S -

WORLD IMPACT IN NEWARK, N.J.

World Impact has maintained a presence in Newark since 1976. Early emphasis was on Bible

clubs for neighborhood children. The ministry expanded over the years and currently includes

four active church plants, a Christian mission school, theological training for local leaders through the Urban Ministry Institute, a job-training program

for teens and a community thrift store.

Today, there are two church plants in Newark: World Impact Community Church serves

the English-speaking population; Shalom is our main outreach to Hispanic immigrants through cell groups and English as Second Language (ESL)

classes. Our church plants also provide Children's Bible clubs, teen groups, and a ministry to young

adults.

Newark Christian School was established in 1984 with a kindergarten and a first-grade class. Today,

dedicated teachers pour their lives into students from kindergarten through eighth grade.

Where has the summer gone? The kids are back to school and fall is right around the corner. As you know Women's Fellowship didn't meet the month of August, instead it was dinner night out for the whole church. There where 21of us, who went to Vinny's Restaurant in Middlefield and had a good dinner and a wonderful time. The trustees are busy mowing, weeding, and meeting with different businesses for inspections, and/or trying to repair problems or get things fixed from the lightning strike.

We could use some help with the fence being erected at the parsonage. Please contact David Smith if you can help.

Mark your calendars: There will be an ‘All Church Work Day’ on Saturday, September 19th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. weather permitting. Please see Kathy if you have any questions.

We are also having a shed for clothing collection put near the current sheds in September for St. Pauley, a company that redistributes the articles around the world to those in need. We will receive some monetary compensation for this. Also accepted are shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, blankets, sheets, drapes, pillowcases and stuffed animals. Please..... no furniture, electronics, books, household items, toys, garbage, pillows, rags, or fabric scraps. Everything needs to be put in plastic garbage bags.

Also, be reminded that the roof is being done (or has been done), and that the north driveway will be blocked off until they are finished. This should not interfere with the free meal or church services. Thank you for your patience, and always, your help.

NOTES FROM THE BOOKWORM ~~~~~ September 2015

It's such a joy to see all the young children that have been coming to church. They are a breathe of fresh air and a hope for the future of our church family. With that said, it means that it's a perfect time for all the young dads and moms out there to take a serious look at what it means to be godly parents.

There are many books in the library's 'Marriage and Family' section to help you. A new one, A Father's Reward, is

written by Phil Downer, a father of six with plenty of experience. He truly understands the challenge of raising godly children in an ungodly world. Using real-life examples, applicable Scriptures, and thoughtful observations, he encourages fathers to discover God's plan for families. A great encouragement to our young dads. Check it out and be blessed!

Speaking of 'truths of the Bible', Tyndale's 103 Questions Children Ask about Right from Wrong, with answers from the Bible, has just been added to our collection. Kids can (and should) ask lots of questions. As adults, we need to be prepared with simple, easy to under-stand, Biblical answers. This book (also found in Marr. & Fam.) can be a great resource.

We recently added two new books dealing with grace. Putting a Face on Grace, by Richard Blackaby, and Grace walk, by Steve McVey, both provide practical ways you can become a conduit of God's grace to those around you. It's been said that we will not truly understand grace until we give it away. We need to make it a lifestyle.

Our “Fiction” shelves have been undergoing an ongoing facelift. Between retired books being given away and new books being donated, there are many surprises waiting for you, too many to list. Enjoy a real variety of good reads. Let us know what your favorites are.

Our audio-visual sections have grown in the last few months. There is a new 3-CD set of wedding songs, as well as over a dozen other new music CDs. The new additions include everything from (#CL90) the classical odes of Solomon (the very first Christian hymns) to the very modern version in “Rock Power Praise – Vol. 1, The Hymns” (#A121). There are also new DVDs for the kids and the adult as well. Something for everyone!

P.S. Looking over the 'check-out' cards, it seems there are a lot of books, etc. that must be hiding under beds or behind the TV. Please make sure your items are returned in a timely fashion. We use an honor system and there are no late fees. So enjoy them, and then please make the effort to return them. Someone else in the church family may be looking for that very item.
