Please register early!We make every effort to conduct the classes we advertise. However, in fairness to our instructors, there is a point when courses must be cancelled due to insufficient registration. With that in mind, please do not wait until the last minute to sign up for a class. You could be the one participant needed to meet the required minimum.

Accident’s InsuranceThe City of Nacogdoches does not provide individual, team, or group accident insurance for participants in Parks and Recreation programs. We recommend that you check with your personal agent to assure coverage. Please report any injuries to your program supervisor.

Refund PolicyPersons needing to cancel out of a program may apply for a refund at the Recreation Center prior to the starting date of the program. Refunds will not be issued after the first class meeting unless a written statement from a physician is received indicating illness or disability.

2013 NISD Summer Food ProgramJune 17th – August 2nd

This program offered by the Nacogdoches Independent School District and the Nacogdoches Parks and Recreation Department will provide free on-site breakfast and lunches to children under the age of 18. No applications are required to participate. Breakfast and lunch are served at the following designated times and locations Monday-Friday.

Summer Art and Crafts Instructor: Vicki BaggettAges: 6 years & upTime: Wednesdays 2:30 - 4:00 p.m.Fee: $45/session, $35 for second child, or $12/dayIn this class we will explore a variety of media and types of art such as drawing, printmaking, painting, bookmaking, eco-art, and general summer crafts. Within each project we will discuss the elements of art and history of art as well as learn about the different methods of looking at art to understand it. Emphasis will be on exploration, process, and of course, fun.

Hip Hop 1Instructor: Amy TrainerAges: 8 - 13 yearsTime: Wednesdays 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.Fee: $30/month, or $10/classThis class is a fun, energetic intro-level hip hop class. The combinations learned in this class will pull from contemporary hip hop and old school hip hop.

Classes will help improve technical elements including double and triple, pirouettes, grand jete leaps, switch leaps, fouette turns and toe touches.

High steppin’, and toe tappin’ enthusiastic adults wanted! Students will learn basic clogging steps and routines. Clogging shoes or Keds with clogging taps required. This is a great way to exercise, while having a blast!

Softball Field Reservations (Pete Smith Softball Fields)Any team or organization wishing to reserve the softball fields for a tournament or practice must make field reservations through the Recreation Center by calling 559-2960. Reservations are accepted on a first come, first serve basis. The fee structure is as follows:Practice time - $5/field/per hour without lightsIndependent Tournament- $100 refundable deposit $50 tournament fee $15/field/day $5/game without lights $10/game with lights

Gymnasium (C.L. Simon Recreation Center)Open gym time is available for pickup basketball and indoor walking. Monday and Wednesday nights are 18 and older; while Tuesday and Thursday nights are for 18 and under. Gym schedule changes often so call 936-559-2960 to check for availability. Ages: 11 years and up 11 years and under must be supervised by an adult 18 years old or olderFee: $1.00 per day or $10.00 per month

Tween, Teen and Adult Summer Reading ProgramsSummer Kick-off – June 1st – 12:00 p.m.

Summer Reading Program for Teens and Adults – Receive punch cards to takewith you to each of the library programs. These can be entered in drawings for prizes.

Drawings will be held every two weeks from June 10th to August 9th.A grand prize drawing will take place at the end of the summer.

Treasure Hunt Kick-off – This will be a Summer long event. Families and individualscan obtain the first clue to a city-wide treasure hunt that will continue all summer.

Liberty Hall/Park Pavilion Rentals

Liberty Hall RentalLiberty Hall (El Camino Real Park) is available to reserve for parties, reunions, or corporate functions. The facility has a small kitchenette and large meeting area with a maximum capacity of 75 people. Some tables and chairs are provided. Contact: C.L. Park Pavilion RentalsPark pavilions are available to reserve for get-togethers. There are 15 covered pavilions throughout the City and around Lake Nacogdoches. Contact: C.L. Lake NacogdochesLake Nacogdoches is a 2210 acre reservoir located 10 miles southwest of the City on FM 225. There are three pavilions, a swimming area, a fishing pier, and a boat ramp in the west side park. There are also tables, a swimming area, and another boat ramp on the east side of the lake.

Trail InformationLanana Creek TrailThe Lanana Creek Trail system is over 6 miles of both paved and unpaved walking and/or biking paths. The trail is equipped with water fountains and emergency phones, and patrons are encouraged to enjoy the wooded scenery safely during the daytime.

invitations and “thank you” notes as well as supply cake, punch, or any other desired food items. There is an additional fee of $5 for added children. Parties must be paid in advance, and cancellations must be requested three (3) weeks in advance. Goody bags are available for $3 each.
