The best thing a bar can do is to put several TVs on Buzztime trivia ALL the time not just when someone asks. Also leave a few Playmakers out on the bar for new players to pick up. This draws many new players who will return to play quite often. Then offer small prizes when the bar reaches the top 20 rankings screens. The top 5 players get a free drink or $2 discount on food, etc. This keeps players around longer, trying to get a top 20 bar ranking. These 3 things are a MUST for a success-ful Buzztime setup.

Tom Fremarek, Cheeseburger in Paradise Host a QB1 Buzztime party! Set up a Buzztime section that has Buzztime prize-packs (created prior to the event), such as balloons, decorations, and Playmakers; this will get people curious as to what you are doing before the event starts! Once your set up is complete, approach everyone at the bar to explain QB1 to them, show the prizes they can possibly win and have the Playmaker in hand to set them up with a user name. During the game, randomly choose Buzztime players to pick out a number. Whichever number they choose that matches the Playmaker number at the bar wins a free prize (keychain, hat, smaller prizes). This will keep the energy up; they can win a prize at any given time! Once the game is over, explain to playing customers that Buzztime is at the location everyday! They can come in during QB1 games as well and play again.

Brian Reich, Jilly’s The ability to attract both new customers and the Buzztime trivia base is the best advantage of having Buzztime. We’ve had 15-20 new players in the past couple of weeks. People are coming in specifically just to play Buzztime. Never had that kind of influx before.

Todd Hartman, Broadway’sIt’s Buzztime Texas Hold’ Em Night at Broadway’s every week at 7:00pm. Bring in your best poker face and compete to win bar tabs! Beginners welcome! We’re using Facebook and Buzztime to increase our business. As a result, our place is building a bigger and better group of guests, and growing our business.

Ray Brooks, Picasso’s Pizza Ray Brooks owner of Picasso’s Pizza has a spinning wheel that all of his Buzztime players get to spin and see what type of prize or discount they will get off of their bill. His staff does a great job offering Buzztime to the customers. In Ray’s own words,“I know if I get them playing Buzztime I will double their check average.”

Ray Davison, Broadway Bar and Grill I hosted a Buzztime Team Trivia event using hosted trivia. The event started at 7pm and went to 9:30pm. There were 4 teams of 3 people, and 7 individuals that used a pen and a card to get their answer in. Customers had a blast with it, and even went into overtime due to a tie, which created more excitement. We promoted just within the bar and got people to come and play for 2 ½ hours. The winning team won 2 tickets to see Ozzy Osborne.

Shawn Hudson, Knuckleheads RoadhouseMy tip for creating excitement in my bar around Buzztime is to use the Competition Manager. We have even challenged other local bars to trivia competitions.

Kevin Smith, Extreme Pizza After seating the table, we help the customer sign on and offer a free dessert to the winner with the highest score at their table.

We have had Buzztime Trivia installed for almost a year. The response has been great. Buzztime has built a loyal following of mid-afternoon players which is always a slow time. We also have the NFL ticket, and Buzztime is a great match with the abundance of TVs. And, the addition of a Wednesday night trivia challenge seems to be steadily growing in popularity.

Steve Wilson, Flying Fish Saloon We created a contest through Buzztime’s manager functions, the Local Top 10. We have a leaderboard and give a prize away each month for the highest Buzztime Trivia and Countdown score.

Bill Feldgrever, Eskape Entertainment We did a promotional event to help the regulars get familiar with the system. We signed them up for Buzztime’s loyalty program, Players Plus and gave away a ton of prizes! In two months, gameplay skyrocketed, and we’re now thinking of upgrading our current package! We are currently working to host a trivia night using the freeBuzztime demo on the on-demand menu. This truly shows that if you work to make it work...it will! Eskape Entertain-ment features and reminds customers to play Buzztime on Facebook as well as email blasts. We only hope to see even better player feedback in the months to come!

Bob Demori, Demori’s Our site runs a simple competition that turns out huge for business. We run a competition where customers come in anytime throughout the day and try to be #1 in the nation. There has to be a minimum of 5 players playing, and if they get #1 in the nation, everyone receives a shot or a free drink.

Shawna Perry, Buffalo Wings & RingsBuzztime makes our location a fun atmosphere as far as people playing it and being competitive. We usually give free shots for high scores and find other incentives for Buzztime players.

Jenna, Henry Hudson’s Pub & Grill Here at Henry Hudson’s we have the best regulars in town! They love coming in to play and competing with each other on a daily basis. They all search for their names to be in 1st place. I wish there was a way we could place our wonderful Buzztime regulars’ photos on the screens! Because here at Henry Hudson’s all of our players are winners! I think it would make them stay longer just to see themselves on the big screens as if they are the star! Not only the winners but all of our fabulous players! Thank you for your time and keep on playing!

Ron Jasper, Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant Every month, we check our patrons’ Buzztime scores and each time someone hits one million points, they are presented a trophy for the million point club. If 5 or more players are at the bar playing at the same time, we offer the winner of the game an opportunity to pull a prize from our Buzztime Jar in which they can win anything from a free soft drink to a complete free dinner.

Kirk Johnson, BearnosBearnos has made Monday night our Buzztime Trivia Night at three of our locations in Southern Indiana. The servers wear Buzztime shirts and make an effort to offer each customer a Playmaker to play trivia. With all that goes onduring the week in our restaurant, we’ve decided that concentrating on Buzztime one night a week is best.

Mike Weyer, Buffalo Wings and Rings Bedford When the hostess is taking a customer’s information for seating, they offer the customer a Playmaker and log them in to play while waiting for a table. They also communicate that they can take it to the table with them to continue playing while they wait for their food. The Playmakers are stored at the hostess stand and we have a TV located in the entryway for customers to see the trivia questions.

Al Bickell, Billy Joes Lounge I set up weekly competitions with prizing every Friday night during Spotlight. This competition brings our individual trivia players from throughout the week together to compete.

Carrie Paprika, Pepe’s South Haven We buy small trophies for our guests that hit certain milestone points, and have them engraved with their name and PlayersPlus points earned. The customers enjoy the competition and being able to display their trophies.

Amber, Buffalo Wild Wings Broadview Hts.We’re thrilled with the Playmaker games. Our location hosts a weekly kids’ night, where all kids eat for $1.99. All our servers give each child a Playmaker and teach them how to play the Playmaker games. Shark Attack is the biggest hit! Parents love Buzztime!

Pam, Wow Zone We utilize the On Demand games in our manager functions. We host large events, where our guests come in for activities such as business meetings or family parties, and they split into groups to rotate between dinner, bowling, arcade games and trivia. We mix On Demand Trivia games for their groups. AtA one event, we had over 250 people split into large groups, rotating to each activity.

Tara Whelan, The ShannonKeeping the bar open on holidays is a great way for our customers to make friends, and Buzztime competitions help to create the friendly, competitive holiday spirit. The best thing about Buzztime is the interaction it creates between staff and customers, and amongst the custom-ers themselves.

I use Digital Signage extensively. I just upload my custom background, and set my schedules for it to run. This way I can use actual photos of bands we are bringing in, photos of our food, event photos. We’ve even worked with the local liquor and beer distributors and had them email in product photos that they have available to incorporate them into our ads. It’s really personalized our messages to our customers and they sure notice it!

Cory Watson, Sunrise Village Ram #19 Here at our location we have used Buzztime to market our beer-to-go program. We are able to sell beer by the half gallon. This has brought up our sales, and we even post when we are running specials such as half-priced fills on our half gallon jugs of beer. This has really brought up our retail sales since the guests have to buy the jug that we can fill here. This has, in turn, brought in more kegs to go, and our take-out sales have also seen a huge increase now that we are advertising our to-go program other than by word-of-mouth.

David Parsons, Ham’s of Hickory We held a Hosted Trivia Night and it was a HUGE success! We had about 8 teams on the Playmakers and it went off without a hitch. The BEST part about Buzztime’s Live Trivia that sets them apart from everyone else is that the game is set up so it doesn’t give people enough time to be able to cheat! I have been to live trivia events before where it’s done the old fashioned way with paper and pencil and then the host comes around at the end and collects the answers. There is so much time between the host asking the question and then collecting the answers a lot of people cheat and it really takes the FUN out of the game! Buzztime’s Hosted Trivia makes it fun for EVERYBODY because there’s no time for cheaters. I can’t wait to make this a weekly event in my restaurant!

Brian Dadah, Pauly’s Pizzeria and Sub Co.The ability to market on my TVs is fantastic for me. I use ads to promote our specials, which are such an easy way to reach customers.

Dennis Davis, Applebee’s Some of the most effective ways we use Buzztime Digital Signage is to showcase some of our regulars’ businesses. This not only shows them that we appreciate their business but helps them generate new clients. In addition, we use the signage to promote upcoming and ongoing promotions. It is also used to recognize outstanding team members. We are putting together a plan to combine a Facebook and Buzztime promotion. This would include putting a daily/weekly code on the screens that the guest will have to come in to the restaurant and copy then post to our Facebook page to get discounts or win prizes. This is still in the planning stage, but we feel the possibilities are great.

Rob Stevens, Hooters of Kiener PlazaTo help offset the costs of Buzztime, we sell ads to our regulars who own businesses. The cost is miniscule to them, and what businessman wouldn’t love seeing his business advertised at his favorite watering hole!

Kim O’Donnell, Kimmyz Sports Bar and Grill We’ve had success in selling Digital Signage ads. I started by creating an ad that said, “Advertise here! See bartenders for more info.” I also knowand approach customers that own their ownbusi-nesses, to see if they would be interested inadvertising at Kimmyz. I’ve been able to sell one ad so far, and continue to push to sell more. I even talk to people outside of the bar to encourage more people to advertise on the Buzztime system at Kimmyz.
