The“SmartCouple”digitalhealthtoolsaredesignedtoinform,empowerandpromote“smartclients”and“smartcouples”byreachingthemdirectlythroughmobiletechnology.

ThesescriptsarePart2ofafour-partdocument.Part1providesthebackgroundforthetools,visionandobjectives,detailsabouttheaudienceandbehavioralobjectives,andinformationaboutkeyaspectsaboutthetools.Part3containstheSmartCouplecharacters,scriptsandSMSchallenges.AndPart4providesguidelinesforadaptation.

Musaisahardworkingtailorandworksatashopintheneighborhoodwhereheandhisfamilylive.Heandhiswife,Laila,havebeenmarriedforfiveyearsandhavetwochildren,DanjumaandLami.Hecaresalotforhissister,Safiah,andworriesaboutherwell-being.Heseesthatsheisstrugglingwithmanychildrenanditmakeshimwanttomakesurehecanprovideforhisfamily,sohedoesnotwanttohaveanotherchildyet.HetalkstoLailaaboutitandtheyagreetopracticechildbirthspacing.1Theyareveryhappytogether,butrecentlyMusaseemstobehidingsomething—heoftengoesoutwithouttellingLailawhereheis.Lailathinksheishavinganaffair.Infact,hehasbeensufferingfromabadstomachpainandistryingtofindtreatmentbutdidnotwanttoworryLaila.Hefinallyseesadoctorwhoassureshimthatheneedsanoperation.

Musa’ssisterSafiahandherhusband,Mahmoud,havefivechildrenandarehavingtroublemakingendsmeet,especiallywhenoneoftheirsons,Abu,becomessick.Lailasuggeststhat,instead,theyspacethebirthsoftheirchildren.MahmoudisangrywhenhefindsoutthatLailasuggestedSafiahpracticechildbirthspacingandtellsLailaandMusatostopinterferingintheirmarriage.Safiahisinterested,though,andtalkstoLailaaboutvisitingapharmacist.TensionscalmdownwhenMusatalkswithMahmoud,andheagreestovisittheclinicwithSafiah.

DijeisLaila’syoungersisterandmovedinwithLailaaftertheirparentspassedawayinanaccident.LailaandDijehaveabrother,Bala,whobecamethefamilyhead,andheisnowveryprotectiveofDije.Dijeloveshimbutthinkshetriestocontrolhertoomuch.Dijeseesherselfasverymodernandwantstogotouniversity.Sheisinlovewithayoungman,Kabir,andtellsLailaabouthimbutisafraidtotellBala.Oneday,BalaseesDijeandKabirtogetherandisveryangry.Shortlyafter,KabirdoesnotshowupforadateandDijebecomesworried.ThereissuspicionthatBalaisinvolvedinKabir’sdisappearanceandheisarrested.However,Kabirisfoundinjured,butalive,followinganaccident,andproposestoDije.
