Part 4-Christ in the Prophecies

Selected Scriptures

The entire Bible points to the glory of God and the person and work of Jesus Christ. As we enter the Christmas season we celebrate the first advent of Jesus Christ and see the fulfillment of many of the OT prophecies regarding Jesus. These fulfillments remind us that Jesus is indeed God who came and died for us and it further points us to Jesus’ 2nd advent where He returns as King over all the earth. This morning we are going to explore the wonder of Christ’s first advent.

“Now He said to them, ‘These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.’”

41 Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “Will the Christ come out of Galilee? 42 Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem, where David was?”

JESUS LIVES EXACTLY AS FORETOLD

Betrayed for 30 pieces of silver

Zechariah 11:12–13, Then I said to them, “If it is agreeable to you, give me my wages; and if not, refrain.” So they weighed out for my wages thirty pieces of silver. 13 And the LORD said to me, “Throw it to the potter”—that princely price they set on me. So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of the LORD for the potter.


Betrayed for 30 pieces of silver

Matthew 27:3–5 3 Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” And they said, “What is that to us? You see to it!” 5 Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.


Humiliated and AbusedIsaiah 50:6, I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.

Matthew 27:30, Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head.

Psalm 38:11, My loved ones and my friends stand aloof from my plague, And my relatives stand afar off.

Pierced and UnbrokenZechariah 12:10, “And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced.
