Build an online community by adding interactive features to ASME.org and give engineers and others reasons to be engaged with ASME.
WHAT’S HAPPENING
Adding Community/Social Networking features and functionality that will benefit:
Individual Participants ASME Groups
Other changes:- Improvements to the Home Page and sitewide navigation- New approach to the About ASME sections of the site
A two-stage release is planned:- Private Preview – January
- By invitation only - Public Launch – February
A marketing and communications campaign will start in January and run through calendar 2013

KEY COMMUNITY FEATURES FOR PARTICIPANTS

Once users register to become ASME.org Participants, they will have the ability to showcase their experience, network with other engineers, and share their knowledge.
Feature Description
Personal Profile
• Each registered participant will be able to create a personal profile that describes their interests, experience, education and credentials
• Participants can import their data from LinkedIn or ASME account to streamline profile creation
• Privacy settings so participants can decide what information they want to share
Dashboard • Personalized activity center including ability to manage online activities, receive notices and alerts, and follow activity stream
• Can add other Participants to personal network and follow their activities• Can send messages, and share links and comments with personal network• Can see current activities and updates from Student Section and other ASME
groups to which the Participant belongs
Directory • Based on Participant profile information• Easy to browse and search based on industry, technical interest, location,
education, or professional status
Commenting • Participants will be able to comment and share insights on ASME.org articles.
KEY COMMUNITY FEATURES FOR ASME GROUPS
Groups Directory will make it easy to find ASME Groups.
Every ASME Group will have a Profile Page:•Information about the Group •Activity stream
• Announcements and alerts from leadership• What’s being shared by participants• Comments from participants
Group leaders and group administrators will be able to:•Send alerts and announcements•Share files and links•Invite participants to join their group•Stimulate interactivity and community activity
