Author’s Purpose The author’s purpose is the main reason for presenting a story or selection in a certain way. An author’s purpose does two things

Can be to inform to inform, explain, to entertain, or to persuade

Affects things in the story, such as the details, descriptions, story events, and dialogue

An author can have more than on purpose for writing.
