I have received a letter of demand for take-down and apology fromDavinder Singh of Drew and Napier, representing Lee Hsien Loong. Theletter says that parts of my article, 'PAP mis-AIMed, faced blowback',dated 21 December 2012, are defamatory to Lee. The letter also cites21 comments from readers beneath it, which the lawyer says aredefamatory too.
I will accept that they are defamatory and will take them down asrequested, and put up a letter of apology.
This should not distract from the issue of the sale of town councilsoftware to Action Information Management Pte Ltd. From what has beendisclosed so far, reasonable people would have many questions, andwhile news of me getting a lawyer's letter might be temporarily more"newsy", it is more important for Singapore that these questions beanswered, not avoided.
