OPTICAL ILLUSIONS
Look at the bar in the picture. It looks like at each end of the bar it’s a different color. Well that’s false! When you cover everything in the picture besides the bar you can tell the bar is only gray. It’s monochromatic. It happens because one side of the background is darker than the other, so your brain thinks the bar changes color too.*
These lines don’t look parallel right. False again! Your brain looks at the short lines that make an impression of depth. The brain also bends the lines toward and away from each other. The brain also increases the angles between the lines.1
