Thank you for your partnership: Safe Management Measures (SMM) in schools We are grateful that you have worked hand in hand with us in the implementation of SMM so that our school remains a safe and conducive environment for all students. As Singapore moves into Phase 2 of re-opening and we prepare to welcome back all students in school from 29 June, we need the collective effort of all parents and students to exercise social responsibility so that schools stay safe. We would like to highlight a few key safe management measures for your cooperation: If your child is feeling unwell (e.g. sore throat, fever or cough), please see a doctor and do not come to school. If diagnosed with Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI), students 13 years and above will be prioritised for COVID-19 testing, while students 12 years and below will be assessed by the doctor as to whether a test is required. If there are any adult household members (18 years and above) unwell with flu-like symptoms, please inform the school and keep your child at home. Please ensure that the unwell adult household member seeks medical treatment promptly. For students staying at home, the school will continue to support them in their learning. Your vigilance and cooperation are important in keeping the school safe for all. 2. Weighted Assessment (WA) matters Term 3 The school has used the start of Term 3 to ease your child back to school and to address his/her social-emotional and learning needs which are better met via Face to Face platforms. We hope that your child is now accustomed to returning to school and is adapting well to some of the new norms, e.g. wearing of masks. To allow you and your child to better monitor his/her progress in learning, the school will schedule Term 3 Weighted Assessments (WA) as follows: For almost all subjects: The Term 3 Class Tests will be conducted from 27 July to 6 August 2020. This will take place after the Term 3 1 st break (18 to 26 July). The timetable and the topics/skills to be tested for the Class Tests can be downloaded from the school’s website from 13 July onwards. For selected subjects: An additional assessment will be conducted from 29 June to 17 July 2020. The topics/ skills to be tested could include those taught but not formally assessed in Term 2. The respective subject teacher will inform your child the dates and topics/skills to be tested.

19 June 2020 PRCS2020/074 Dear Parents/Guardians School Updates 2020/04 (Secondary 3NA) 1. Thank you for your partnership: Safe Management Measures (SMM) in schools

We are grateful that you have worked hand in hand with us in the implementation of SMM so that our school remains a safe and conducive environment for all students. As Singapore moves into Phase 2 of re-opening and we prepare to welcome back all students in school from 29 June, we need the collective effort of all parents and students to exercise social responsibility so that schools stay safe. We would like to highlight a few key safe management measures for your cooperation:

• If your child is feeling unwell (e.g. sore throat, fever or cough), please see a doctor and do not come to school. If diagnosed with Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI), students 13 years and above will be prioritised for COVID-19 testing, while students 12 years and below will be assessed by the doctor as to whether a test is required.

• If there are any adult household members (18 years and above) unwell with flu-like symptoms, please inform the school and keep your child at home.

To allow you and your child to better monitor his/her progress in learning, the school will schedule Term 3 Weighted Assessments (WA) as follows:

• For almost all subjects: The Term 3 Class Tests will be conducted from 27 July to 6 August 2020. This will take place after the Term 3 1st break (18 to 26 July). The timetable and the topics/skills to be tested for the Class Tests can be downloaded from the school’s website from 13 July onwards.

• For selected subjects: An additional assessment will be conducted from 29 June to 17 July 2020. The topics/ skills to be tested could include those taught but not formally assessed in Term 2. The respective subject teacher will inform your child the dates and topics/skills to be tested.

We hope that by spreading these assessments across Term 3, we can assure your child of the progress made and give him/her confidence as he/she prepares for the End of Year Examination. As class tests are part of the school’s overall assessment, the following assessment policy applies:

(a) The safety and well-being of all students and staff remains our priority. Students will be deemed to be Absent with Valid Reason if they are issued a Quarantine Order, Leave of Absence, or Approved Absence (AA).

(b) Students who are unwell will need to seek medical consultation and provide a Medical Certificate for their absence. Otherwise, the student will be considered absent without valid reason and awarded a zero mark for that particular paper. As per current SMM, students who report to school but are unwell, e.g. having temperature of 38.0 degrees Celsius and above or having flu-like symptoms, will be asked to return home and to seek medical consultation.

(c) Any student found cheating or attempting to cheat, will be given a zero mark for the subject and may be barred from other class tests. Students who commit or attempt any acts of dishonesty, support such acts of dishonesty, or communicate or attempt to communicate during any part of the class test, will fall into the same category. Further action will be taken in accordance to the Student Handbook.

(d) Students may continue to wear half-uniform to school, i.e. any school-based T-shirt on top, on days when they sit for the class tests. Students who do not observe the rules for presentable appearance (e.g. shoes, hairstyle, and fingernails) may be barred from sitting for the class test and awarded a zero mark.

(e) All students will take the class tests in their Home Classroom or the same venue as their lesson venues. Access arrangement is not available for class tests, to avoid simulating examination conditions which may create unnecessary anxiety for students.

Overall Assessment Plan Because of Full Home-Based Learning period in April and the mid-year school holidays in May, the school was unable to administer the Term 2 WA for some subjects. We have revised the school’s overall assessment plan, taking into consideration the removal of these Term 2 WA. Please refer to Annex A for details. 3. Resumption of Health Screening, Immunisation and Oral Health Programmes Post-

Circuit Breaker The Health Promotion Board (HPB) provides vaccinations, health and dental screening for students in secondary schools. These services were suspended during the Circuit Breaker period in April and May 2020. With the easing of the Circuit Breaker from 2 June 2020, HPB will resume school health services in phases. In the interim, HPB would like to request your help to monitor your child for signs and symptoms of vision problems, hearing impairment and curved spine (scoliosis). Please refer to the letter from HPB in Annex B. 4. Registration of National Registration Identity Card (NRIC) in School Under the National Registration Regulations, all Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents are required to register for their NRIC in the year the child attains the age of 15 years. To provide greater convenience to our students, the registration exercise will be conducted in school on 13 October 2020. ICA will send a Notification for Registration of NRIC to all parents whose children are due for registration. This is for parents to ensure that the registration form is completed and your child will produce the original copies of the relevant documents on the date of the registration. Payment for registration fee ($10 for Singapore Citizens / $50 for Permanent Residents) can be made through your credit card or your child's ezlink card.

• Supporting document if there is change in name: - Baptism / religion certificates (for inserting of religious name) - Deed poll (for change in name including ethnic name)

Registration of NRIC is a significant milestone for students and we look forward to your continued support in this exercise. 5.
