Welcome toPaso Robles'

2 THE PASO ROBLES DESTINATION GUIDE

Welcome to Paso Robles. You will find our community full of excitement and warmth. As a destination, there is so much to do. As you leaf through the pages, keep an open agenda, because it may change several times before you finish.

Along with outstanding restaurants, fabulous accommodations, comes a sense of value. Your dollar will be well spent. Visitors are always mentioning the terrific pricing for such one of a kind gifts and products at our retail stores.

Not only do we have award winning wine, but you will usually find the winemaker in the tasting room. The wine industry is everywhere in the fabric of our community.

If you hear excitement coming from the Fairgrounds, it’s due to the world famous Equestrian facilities. We are the host to some of the largest west coast events. If you are looking for a reason to wear those boots and cowboy hat, you have found the right place.

What makes our town the place to visit is the heart of it’s people. It is a very safe community, as well as a very courteous one. We welcome your visit and hope you stay longer than planned and then plan to visit us again.

Mike Gibson, President/CEO The Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce

As you read about Paso Robles and either plan a trip or stop by to visit, I hope your experience is a memorable one.

Take a stroll through our historic downtown, dine at one of the many quality restaurants, peek inside the stores, taste the extraordinary variety of wines, soak in the mineral baths, or come for a special event. Whatever you do, or wherever you go, you’ll find friendly people and a community that strongly embraces its western heritage. Some even say a visit here is like a delightful step back in time. We pride ourselves on our hospitality and love to chat with our visitors.

If you need directions, all you have to do is ask. If you need suggestions, we’ve got those, too. Paso Robles is a neighborhood of volunteers and hard working folks who know how to work and best of all, know how to play. From the “Biggest Little Fair Anywhere” to the annual “Wine Festival,” there is something for everyone.

Thank you for visiting Paso Robles. We hope you made a few discoveries of your own and will come stay with us again.

Mayor Duane Picanco

Art & Culture I Historic Paso Robles

Creators have called the town of Paso Robles home since its inception in the mid 19th century when a handful of adventurous businessmen and

farmers settled in “The Ranch de Paso Robles.” The spirit of its residents’ creativity reached new heights in the late 19th century when ranchers and farmers firmly established the value of its lands and ambitious townspeople built banks, hardware stores, saloons, and a world-class bathhouse solidify-ing Paso Robles as a bustling and beautiful town. More than a century later, residents have continued to create art, wine, agriculture, theater, and a host of other treasures that help define this special California town.

Imagine a sea of pale gray-green plants crowned with a powdery purple hue, growing on a hillside in Paso Robles. Stretching out in well-manicured rows, laven-der plants wave softly in the dry, warm breeze. Beyond them are hills covered with vineyards in some places, and oak trees in others. As you breathe in, you smell an exotic, sweet and tangy scent that lingers in the air, giving you the sensation of being in a place that is both serene and stimulating at the same time. The fra-grance of the lavender plant is treasured for its beauty. We invite you to visit and enjoy the natural splendor that surrounds the scenic Paso Robles.
