AMSTERDAM: 52_ 22' N 004_ 54' E (See Plan)OVERVIEW: Major port comprising several harbour basins accessed via locks. The port handles bulk carriers, containers, general cargo, Ro-Ro,cruise, tankers.LOCATION: On the North Sea Canal, 70 km. NE of Rotterdam.CHARTS: BA Charts No. 124 and 1631.ISPS COMPLIANCE: Port is compliant.MAX. SIZE: LOA 325 m., draft 13.7 m.DENSITY: Brackish to fresh.RESTRICTIONS: Special permission is required for vessels with followingdimensions:Beam Max Draft (SW)(m.) (m.)42.0-45.0 13.745.0 13.1APPROACHES: Vessels proceeding to Amsterdam have to pass locks at Ymuiden. The max. draft to enter Ymuiden is 17.80 m. Dimensions ofNorthern Lock (largest): length 400 m., width 50 m. and depth 15.0 m. Max. draft to use the locks is 13.7 m.PILOTAGE: Compulsory.ETD message must be sent at least 4 hours before departure to Amsterdam Pilots or via Amsterdam Port Control on VHF 14 or on VHF 68; or via IJmuiden Port Control on VHF 61.1. Pilot launches have a yellow hull, white superstructure and the word‘Pilot’ painted in black on sides. Pilot launches fly a blue flag withwhite letter ’L’ from the foremast. Pilot ladder:Pilot ladders should be rigged at a height of approximately 2.0 m. above sea level. In cases of freeboard more than 9.0 m., the ladder should be made ready in combination with the accommodation ladder.Pilot’s information and advice for ships with a length overall up to 125 m. can also be obtained by means of shore based radar, when launches arenot working outside the breakwater. TUXPAN: 20_ 57' N 097_ 24' W (See Plan)OVERVIEW: Multi-purpose port handling dry and liquid bulk, general cargo, container, perishables and cruise vessels.LOCATION: The port is situated on the east coast of Mexico, on the north bank of the Tuxpan River. Santiago de la Pena is part of Tuxpan and issituated the south bank.The entrance of the Tuxpan River is situated at Lat. 20_ 58.2’ N, Long. 97_ 18.1’ W. There are breakwaters on both sides of the river mouth.The north breakwater has a length of 1,004 m. that is visible and 130 m. that is submerged, and the south breakwater has a length of 720 m.CHARTS: BA Chart No. 373.PORT LIMITS: 6.8 nautical miles from breakwaters to Tuxpan Reef.

On the opposite side (the south bank) is situated part of Tuxpan called Santiago de la Pena.Pilotage: Compulsory. Pilot boards vessel approximately 2 – 2.5 miles east of entrance. Pilot boat: A white 20 ft. boat with white cabin and blue/white deck.Equipped with VHF Channel 16. Pilot Office open from sunrise to sunset and listening on VHF Channel 16. Call: ‘‘Tuxpan Pilot’’.The Pilot has to be ordered by Agent 24 hours in advance.Anchorage: East of breakwaters from 2 – 4 miles on a breadth of 1 mile north and 1 mile south of this line.Caution: Many submerged gas and oil-pipes in the vicinity of entrance to Rio Tuxpan.Best Anchorage: North mole head bearing 270_(T) and 2.8 miles off. Ground:Muddy sand, good holding.Tankers: Offshore there are two SBMs in position:No. 2: Lat. 21_ 02.58' N, Long. 97_ 17.43' W andNo. 1: 135_ – 1.9 miles from No. 2 SBM.
