When do we use the
passive voice?1. When you do not wish to emphasizedo not wish to emphasize

(the passive keeps the managementfrom being the bad guys.)

4. Remember: a statement in the
passive is more polite than theactive voice:
A deskwas brokenyesterday.
(Here I focus on the fact that a deskwas broken, but I dont want to blameanyone).
That is why we often use passives inFORMAL style.
