Mr. Armstrong was in his usual form, speaking powerfully about the momentous events just ahead of us when Jesus Christ will return in great glory to take the helm of rulership of all nations. The sermon will be mailed out for all pastors to play in their congregations. As with the tapes mentioned in the last "Pastor General's Report," you should plan to play this one after the Feast. It would also be appropriate to use this one before the other two, even though it is a more recent message.

PASTOR GENERAL'S REPORT, SEPTEMBER 20, 1985

A s Mr. Armstrong h a s expla ined (see "Pastor Genera l ' s Report," August 17, 19841, i f a person who has a contagious i l l n e s s is anointed, he

Otherwise he could poss ib ly expose others.

God's law is a law of love. I t is based upon t r u e c o n c u f o r t h e good and well-being of o the r s . God H i m s e l f au thored t h e laws of qua ran t ine i n t h e a n c i e n t n a t i o n of Israel. Those laws are based on love f o r fellowman. A s God's s p i r i t u a l Israeli tes today, w e do n o t want t o become incons ide ra t e o r s e l f i sh by a t t e n d i n g s e r v i c e s or a c t i v i t i e s when w e have i l l n e s s e s t h a t can be spread t o o the r s .

A l s o , regarding pregnant women a t t e n d i n g t h e Feast, w e r e p r i n t t h e fol lowing e x c e r p t from a le t te r dated September 1 4 , 1962, by Mr. Herbert Armstrong.

I n past y e a r s some pregnant women have journeyed t o t h e Festi- v a l and had their baby d e l i v e r e d a t t h e F e s t i v a l . This is very DANGEROUS t o such a woman and her unborn ch i ld .

Therefore, NO WOMAN who is t o be as much a s e i g h t months along by t h e end of t h e Feast should a t t end .

Also, any woman j u s t a f e w months along i n pregnancy should be very CAUTIOUS about whether she a t t e n d s t h e Feast a t a l l ! The pe r iod from two t o f i v e months pregnancy is t h e time when most miscarriages occur. The h ighe r a l t i t u d e s and colder climate a t Squaw Valley [a Feast s i t e i n 19621 migh t be t o o much f o r some during t h i s period. Big Sandy is oppres s ive ly hot , w i t h sudden change i n temperature i f a "nor ther" should blow i n . DON'T RISK MISCARRIAGE OF A PRECIOUS LIFE! REMEMBER, God does - n o t l a y t h e same stress on a t t endance of women a s H e does men. USE W I S D O M ! Check up wi th t h e doctor who is t o d e l i v e r your baby.

On another s u b j e c t , t h e q u e s t i o n has been asked whether every church member is au tomat i ca l ly appointed as an " o f f i c i a l des igna ted r ep resen ta t ive" t o a t t e n d t h e Feast of Tabernacles. The answer is no. Hence, un le s s s p e c i f i c a l l y appointed by Headquarters, t h e l a y church members are n o t au thor ized t o deduct, on t he i r income t a x , t h e i r expenses incu r red i n a t t e n d i n g t h e Feast of Tabernacles on t h e theory of being a n o f f i c i a l l y des igna ted r e p r e s e n t a t i v e .

Mr, Frank Brown re tu rned r e c e n t l y from a t r i p t o East Africa, and reported t h a t t h e morale of God's people t h e r e remains high d e s p i t e t h e i r many problems. H e r e q u e s t s that w e a l l cont inue t o pray f o r our b re th ren i n Africa. There is a l so t h e l i ke l ihood t h a t t h e Feast s i te w i l l be commandeered by t h e m i l i t a r y f o r the i r own use. More de t a i l s of Mr. Brown's t r i p w i l l appear i n t h e next i s s u e of "The Worldwide News."

The r e c e n t coup i n Niger ia occurred without a f f e c t i n g our members there . Mr. David S t i r k , who assists Mr. Brown i n overseeing the Afr ican churches, reported: "Nigeria has been going through a pe r iod of a u s t e r i t y , which h a s brought cons ide rab le distress t o i t s i n h a b i t a n t s . This i n t u r n has s e r i o u s l y damaged t h e income of t h e work i n Nigeria . I t is hoped tha t t h i s new government w i l l ease t h e burden of i ts peoples a l i t t l e , t h u s enabl ing i ts economy t o r ev ive somewhat and w i t h it, God w i l l i n g , t h e w o r k ' s income."

W e need t o be praying for God's work i n Nigeria, as t h e f i n a n c i a l s i t u a t i o n is s t i l l bleak. HONG KONG TELEVISION RESPONSE

The f i r s t responses are now beginning t o come i n f o r The World Tomorrow program i n Hong Kong, which began a i r i n g there i n August.

The responses, f o r now anyway, must come i n a rather unusual manner. The World Tomorrow was t h e f i r s t r e l i g i o u s program t o be accepted on Hong Kong's English-language channel , TVB Pearl. But there was one catch. Hong Kong's S e c r e t a r y of t h e Te lev i s ion and Enter ta inment Licensing Authori ty , Pritam Singh, accepted t h e conten t of t h e program b u t refused permission t o offer f ree l i t e ra ture on t h e a i r . So ads were taken o u t i n t h e TV s e c t i o n of The South China Morning Pos t and i n Hong Kong's TV & Enter ta inment Times magazine. The ads s e r v e a two- f o l d purpose: 1) i n v i t e viewers t o t u n e i n t o t h e program, and 2) o f f e r f ree l i t e r a tu re related t o t h e program.
